The Destroyer Starfire was in orbit over the sleepy colony world of Abner III, there wasn't much to report though renegade Sh'ra activity had been reported several sorties from other ships had pretty much routed them. For the moment all was quiet and well but as anyone who'd been in the service for longer than a week would know that could change in a matter of seconds. Though none of the crew realized it then soon they would be plunged into the thick of something.
Marine Barracks: In the common area of the marine barracks three marines were trying to enjoy themselves, a film was playing on the large screen but it wasn't particularly good, a generic horror flick about parasite controlled corpses on a mining asteroid with an overbuilt human hero with a lot of guns fighting them alongside a hot Rhysellen scientist. There was a pool and a grav-ball table, a few other marines were playing cards.
The three in question were Daedalian Larkin, Brown. PFC. Selurian Satheera, Marin. PFC and Patheurian/Selurian hybrid Dogar, Cabo Lance Corporal. Satheera was easily the smallest, her long tail wrapped around a barstool leg, she twitched her ears at the film's cheesy dialogue. "Ugh, the guy isn't eve holding his guns properly. How do humans get off on this sort of entertainment? I bet that guy wouldn't last one day back in boot, right guys?"
Bridge: At the nervecenter of operations on the ship, Captain Alice Remington had just strode on deck, there was a cry of "Captain on deck!" And the whole bridge stood to attention. Among those on the bridge was Pantheurian Felicity a tactical officer. This was the first timefor her to meet the Captain.
Messhall: Elsewhere most the crew were trying to grab a bite to eat before returning to duty, including intel officer Destiny Maccree and Security officer Stacy Lawliet. The special for the day was apparently beef burritos, tough the messhall wasn't lacking in dining options, all anner of foodstuffs were available.
Hangar: Last but not least, all six pilots of the attached fighter squadron were in the hangar inspecting their fighters, including young Ensign Deardra Sphinx a human/Pantheurian hybrid, callsign Lynx. The wide eyed young pilot smiled as he inspected his fighter, he was thinking of having some kind of noseart painted on. Alongside him was Xyl and fellow pilot Valk Kondor, callsign Book.
An engineer was on hand to answer questions about the craft Crewman first class Maharil, another Pantheurian

Marine Barracks: "Shush, come on, I never got to see these things back home," Larkin grumbled at how his old home was a bit stricter, trying to drown out Satheera and take in the cheesiness. Though now he couldn't help but notice the flick likely had no military advisor on it, to his annoyance as he snarled at the bad movie watcher. Though he really wanted to just watch the movie and get lost in it.
Bridge: Commander Alice Remington flashed a small smile at her crew before telling them to at ease. "Attentive, I like that. Let's get a little casual for now though, nothing bad's gone down yet," she said in a cheerily youthful tone despite her age and experience. she headed for the radar and tactical Officer's, wanting to check on her bearings. "At ease, just want to see how we're doing so far. Always preferred driving a ship, everything was in front of you," she said happily.
Mess Hall: Destiny stood out amongst the crew with her pink skin and reddish and black hair, even compared to what other Rhyshellen's were aboard The Starfire. Despite mingling and shooting the breeze, she was clearly a decorated Chief Warrant Officer, and held commendations to be on the ship or at least on the Commander's good side. Yet there she was, ordering the special like she always did(she thought it made the kitchen staff feel good) and she was ready to gorge on beef burritos. Destiny just needed good seating.

Hanger: Book looked over his fighter. The exterior looked nice, he had to admit. It had an engaging sleek design that reminded him of the same fighters he used in practice runs in the academy, which made him feel a bit nostalgic.
He stood their eyeing the craft for the longest time until he realized he could get a better idea of what the ship could do from the inside. At the very least, he'd be able to tell how comfortable the seats were.
Book climbed in, and began a systems check.
Mess hall: Stacy took her time picking out her lunch. Usually she'd go for the burritos, but she couldn't shake the feeling that today was more of a sandwich kind of day. She poked around until coming across some fried foods that caught her eye and ended up on her plate. She added a side of salad and made her way to the seating area. The place was a bit crowded but no more than usual. That still meant she needed a spot and it would take a minute to find one she liked. She noticed a Rhyshellen officer doing the same and considered offering to find a seat with her. Before walking over though, she hesitated. She didn't want to impose on her in case Stacy was reading the situation wrong. Perhaps she was simply waiting on a friend.
Stacy instead found an empty seat at the end of a nearby table and proceeded to eat her meal.

She recognized a few faces, but the Rhyshellen was the daring type and her daring eyes caught something they liked in Stacy. Pretending like she had no clue, she playfully strolled over to the table Stacy was eating at before nudging herself off to her side. "Mm, oh scuse me. Mind if I take a seat near you? Dont think we've met before, but this seemed most convenient and ya know...might be fun," she said, silently cursing herself for that last part of the greeting. She loved people, she just never could get a first impression down.

"I try not to think too hard about films. It destroys my enjoyment," Dogar replied to Satheera shortly. Truth be told, he rather liked bad movies, though they didn't receive nearly the recognition for fighting the odds to become infamous that major motion pictures received for flopping. He also liked movies of most calibers because he had never had the chance to view a lot of them.
Unfortunately, whenever someone referenced a "classic," it just left Dogar lost and confused.

Barracks: Satheera sighed clearly in the minority, "Ugh, you guys get testy quick." She mumbled. She tried to watch the movie a bit more but buried her head in annoyance as the hero tossed out a bad pun. "Really?" She muttered her tail constricting around the stool.
Bridge: As the Captain made her rounds a comm officer suddeny frowned and adjusted his headset and started jotting something down.
Hangar: Book would find all systems checked out, and the seats were comfy. Lynx was doing the same thing in the fighter next to him. "The Alliance sure knows how to make a ship." He said. The flight lead an older human Brit called Excalibur surveyed his pilots. "Right, get used to those cock pits. You'll be spending a lot of time in them."
Messhall: Destiny and Stacy were free to chat or not

Felicity panicked slightly, but did her best to keep cool. "Umm... hey ma'am... captain... ma'am? Umm..." She started before shaking her head around, and looking back to the machines and determining the bearings of the ships and explaining where they were to the commander.

"Another Panthurian? What's that suppose to mean?" Talking to herself she blows her bangs out of the way with a heavy sigh. 'The greeting officer could have gave a better introduction, but he's probably swamped with looads of paperwork. So I won't hold it against him, maybe if I talk to him more...' --She sees the prodigy fighter pilot out of the corner of her eye and blurts out:
"Lynx! Derdra. 'LYNX.' SPHINX. Boi, that's tounge twister, did you chose that yourself?" She asks walking up politely.

"It seems more to me that you are the one becoming... testy." Dogar shrugged. "Just an observation, though."

Barracks: Satheera took the opportunity to groan again. "Fine, I'll leave." She said with a hurt tone she stood to leave but her tail was still wrapped around the barstool and she pulled it down to the floor with a loud bang. "Ah, no I didn't." She looked around at everyone staring at her and scampered away embarrassed.
Bridge: As felicity showed her captain what she was doing the comm. officer was furiously writing something down, he mouthed: "Holy, shit." As he finished his decryption. "Ma'am!" He suddenly shouted.
Hangar: Lynx looked down at the Pantheurian, "No one really chooses their callsign, it just sort of happens. My dad's was Riddler because of the last name bing Sphinx." He smiled a bit, "What was your name again?" Book would notice the rest of his wingmen, the rest were humans of various types and one other Pantheurian. Immediately to his left was an Asian woman with a serious look on her face. To his left was Lynx who was chatting with the mechanic. Theflight leader stood to the side watching everything it seemed.

That hadn't bothered him of course... he liked other species well enough. But nothing would be as satisfying as flying with a crew of Xyl by his side. Not because of pride, but because it was familiar to him and simply felt natural. Book hoped that with time, he'd feel the same with this crew as well. Book finished what he was doing in his cockpit then exited the fighter. "Mm, oh scuse me. Mind if I take a seat near you? Dont think we've met before, but this seemed most convenient and ya know...might be fun," she said, silently cursing herself for that last part of the greeting. She loved people, she just never could get a first impression down. "Oh, Sure," Stacy replied, a bit surprised by the Rhyshellen's arrival. "I noticed you were looking for a place to sit anyway so I was going to ask you instead but I wasn't sure, cause you know, you could have been looking for one of your friends or something I don't know," Stacy stopped herself the second she realized she was rambling. She didn't need to blurt out her every thought all at once. "Anyway... I'm Stacy," she said with a smile.

Barracks: "H-hey Satheera, I didn't mean for you to leave," Larkin whined aloud as he hopped off the couch, messing everyone's view as he gave chase. He hoped that the Selurian wasn't faster than him on account of wanting to finish off at least part of the movie.
Bridge: "Right come with me, hold that thought," Alice commented, grabbing Felicity by the hand and using some impressive strength to drag her over to the comms officer. "You seem panicked Officer, should I be?" she asked in a stern voice, trying to not look worried herself.
Mess Hall: "Destiny, good to see new faces. Always nice to see new faces," she smiled wide, her grin looking quite huge this up close. "So, why haven't I seen more of your pretty face?" she chuckled. In her head she hoped that didn't kill the conversation dead. Like usual.
OOC thought I did this. No excuse.

Felicity was... surprised by this development to say the least. She didn't really have much say in the matter though and walked behind Alice, she was also fairly curious, but to be fair whatever it was, she could react better in her seat. She considered whether to return to her seat to be ready to respond to whatever was going on, or to stay and not piss off her boss. She decided her job was pretty important and stayed.

Dogar's tail flicked from side to side, watching Larkin and Satheera as they exited into the corridor. Wasn't really his business. The timid and easily offended would remain that way if they ever were.
His golden eyes returned to the movie playing. Now that the Selurian had pointed out how exaggerated everything in the movie was, it was difficult to ignore. He exhaled deeply, gave another attempt at watching the film, snorted, then left to do something else somewhere else. There had to be something to occupy his time.

IMPORTANT: On the bridge the comms officer gave his report, a neighboring colony was under attack. A raid being carried out by the Rose merchants guild a nasty organization of slavers. It didn't take long for general quarters to sound in mere minutes all crew dropped what they were doing and manned their battlestations. It took even less time for the Starfire to arrive at it's location.
A freighter that had been converted into something of a warship was attempting to flee, most likely with a cargo full of captured colonists.
Pilots: Book, Lynx: "Let's disable that ships engines!" Flightleader Excalibur ordered. Book would hear the annoying beeping of a missile lock warning went off. Two older fighter/bombers were flying escort for the slaver ship and they wanted to dogfight it seemed.
Landing party: While the ship and fighters dealt with the ship, a small contingent of marines and crewmen had landed just outside one of the villages on the colony. The planet itself was unremarkable mostly plains of blue grass. Larkin, Satheera and Dogar were on point with the rest of the marines. Satheera had her blaster carbine at the ready, Larkin had a squad support weapon. Dogar had a slugthrowing assault rifle. The rest of the marines had a combination of blaster rifles and slugthrowers.
In addition to the marines was tactician Felicity, engineer Maharil and Security officer Stacy who had brought along a squad of security crewmen to bolster the marines. Last but not least was Destiny who insisted on being present, slavers were a sore spot with her.
Stacy held the highest rank therefore she was in overall command. Gunshots were echoing ahead of them. Apparetly there were slavers on the planet still and they were having a shootout with the locals.
Bridge: Alice found herself with a heavily armed freighter trying to escape and a skirmish on the ground how things went was up to her.
