Having kept his distance from Crocodile at the moment, Ace listened intently as Emerald began to explain what exactly they were up against. Ace made sure to listen up nice and good. He'd already fought a group of marines that had joined up with members of the Cult and even had someone as powerful as Rob Lucci on their payroll. Ace wasn't a fan of killing unless the situation demanded for it. But letting Lucci go would have only left a huge threat in the ranks of the Cult and Ace's mercy could have just as easily came back to bite him-literally in Lucci's case. So when he was defeated after a long drawn out battle which showed off Emerald's expertise with her blade, Ace reluctantly set the fighter ablaze. It didn't feel good but he couldn't afford to run into a re-match later on with Lucci that he could possibly end up not coming out of. He had to find Blackbeard and make Whitebeard's dream come true. Not die at the hands of some cult's strongman. According to Emerald however, there were people even stronger than Lucci. He hadn't seen the others in combat but they all seemed capable, Crocodile especially as much Ace hated to admit it. If anyone could give his brother a good fight it'd be that bastard. Still Luffy managed to come out on top and Baroque Works ended up crumbling down like it should have from the beginning. Ace's only regret was that he had been too busy following up on a lead to stick around and see it through to the end. The importance of those so-called Dragon Balls got Ace thinking about the gravity of this situation. He wasn't one to really believe in God or any kind of higher power given the tragedy that had befallen him throughout his early years of life. But if these balls really could be used to bring such a being back into existence then what else could they do? "Spent years tracking down someone who disgraced the name of Whitebeard. Tracking down these dragon balls and taking them back will seem like a cakewalk in comparison. Course that's just how I see it." At Marvelous and Kasumi's conversation, Ace couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. After encountering a pirate like Buggy, the fact that this guy proclaimed to be a pirate and a captain at that didn't really surprise him in the slightest. Things just kept getting more and more interesting. Though given how the girl who called herself Katie seemed to gush over him, one of Ace's eyebrows slowly raised. "Sounds like you got yourself an admirer, Captain."

Peter leaned against the wall after he received the return gesture from Logan. He tried to listen to all of the conversations going on but he couldn't keep focus. Something seemed...off. of course he was somewhere he's never been, surrounded by people from different universes, and there were dragons involved. He was going to make a joke to Logan about the dragons and the time they were in the Savage Land, but he held off. These dragonballs sounded pretty important. He wanted to ask more about them but hes being pretty shy right now. Spider-Man, shy? Hell, he wanted to get Logan's back and steal the cigar from Croc just to show loyalty to his friend. It wasnt time for Peter to be noticed yet.
He hoped the talk of leadership would hopefully die down from Captain Croc after people got to hear Emerald speak.
"We're here to accomplish a common goal and I'm ready to help in anyway you need me." Spider-Man stated. That vanilla statement started to get to him though. He wanted to keep his cool. His time to shine will come.

A few moments passed as people took her words in. She listened to the responses. Everyone seemed ready if nothing else. Hopefully their enthusiasm would translate. She began to speak again, but in the seconds between her words, the rest of her speech slipped her mind. While she tried to recollect her thoughts, she took time to address some of the comments - which seemed a natural enough continuation, "The Cult currently has 3 dragon balls. The two thy found on their own, and the one they took from me. Which puts us behind."
"Now, we can steal them without being caught, and by all means we should try. But there's more at stake here. If we gather the balls ourselves, they'll come for them. Even if we use them, they'll come back for them later. If we want to stop the Cult we will have to fight, we will have to take them down. If not, then they'll try again."
Emerald sighed, "I have no delusions of ever finishing this war. They will always come back. But what's starting here will build to what I believe to be the one of the most important battles existence will ever see. And all I call tell you about the enemy we face, is that the Master, whom I've had many dealings with in my life, has saw fit together dark reflections of former Universal Warriors. The only one I know by name is Dracula, the original Count Dracula - from the universe where all vampire universes spawn; other than that I only know them by rank, and a vague understanding of some of their powers."
Emerald stopped, fully ready to leave those words hang in the air. Until Sparda spoke to her mind, nudging her into telling them the one thing she had been holding back.
Emerald took a deep breath, "Also, I won't be joining you in the battles to come. Gathering you was a huge risk to me, but one I needed to take. My reason is simple, in my travels and my battles with the Master he discovered something which can be used against me. Not only could he kill me at the mere thought using this method, but he could - if he so chose - turn me, and probably Sparda, against you all."
She worried about telling them even this much, as this was all very deeply personal information. Information that she would hesitate to share with even Sparda if not for their mental link. Still, they had to know why she was sitting these fights out and had hoped this much explanation would be enough for now.

Katie applied some brass to Soothe Emerald in order to make her more relaxed and more trusting and open. She couldn't do too much, the subtle approach was better with the emotion metals. "We want to help you in any way we can, but you've got to be completely straight with us. Like I said before, maybe we can do something about the Master's ace in the hole."

If I'm going to do something bad, I would prefer it's of my own accord."

OOC: If Tom's fine with it, I'm acting as though Wolverine and Spider-Man exist in their media forms on Dean's Earth-- pretty sure they were mentioned at some point in a comic shop or something in the show. Let me know if it's otherwise. Dean had had enough experiences with dragons in his own universe that he was still weary of them-- even with Sparda being such a helpful companion. He eyed them for a moment, trying to decide if they were going to become a threat. It was a definite possibility that with the close bonds the Marek sisters and their dragons exhibited that some scumbag could manipulate them into misinterpreting reality. It'd happened too many times to Dean, and he was sick of it. From War to Leviathan and everything in between, he was especially conscious of it. Not so much because of his own life, but because he could see that at least parts of this group were, while not necessarily weak links, definitely a bit too attached to other members. " Maybe you can save the excited fan bit for later?" he muttered disdainfully at Katie's marvelous outburst, trying to find something else to look at. What he found was the "peace offering" between the Wolverine and Croc. The cigar was exchanged after a moment of nearly visible tension. Dean still couldn't believe Wolverine actually existed somewhere. He hadn't grown up reading comics or anything, but who could deny the simple joy of watching the X-Men trilogy at some point, right? Then there was Spider-Man-- someone who was undeniably essential pop culture on Earth, but not someone Dean had ever admired for his character. He had enough witty one-liners to fill a sitcom with between himself and Crowley alone. He was seemingly sulking, leaning on the wall alone simply watching the conversations take place. Emerald spoke and Dean turned his head to listen. She'd begun commanding his respect after what happened with the Demon. Listening to her words, he nodded. At the mention of besting them and the dragons, Dean's expression remained unchanged. These dragons were the most physically powerful thing he'd seen in a long time, and he'd seen every single archangel and Leviathan (that mattered) in action. She'd already told him a small amount of info about the Dragon Balls, but nothing of how they worked other than when you gathered all seven you could make a wish. He didn't know if there was more to it, some ritual that had to be completed or what, but he didn't like these wishes-without-a-catch deals, because they always had strings attached. For the second time his gaze rested on Edward, impassive but calculating in its nature, analyzing a potential threat to be. Then, a thought occurred to Dean. For the first time since Lisa and Ben, he wasn't taking care of Sam. Sam was safe for now, and the only person Dean needed to watch out for was himself. Maybe he'd even come to be as protective of them as someone like Cass. It was strange that he might have an entire team backing him, regardless of their dependability. He'd had a little bit of experience in that regard with Samuel and his cousins, but that was hardly lasting. " You have any more info on these generals? I know we met one, but he wasn't exactly the talkative type. Do you have titles for the others, something that might tell us where they came from so that we can find out how to kill them?" He paused. " They do have to die, right? This isn't a 'they're members of the old team, they can still be saved' sort of thing, is it? That would make this mission about fifty times harder than it has to be." Logan's mention of alcohol made Dean realized-- it had been days since his last drink. It had also been years since he was last truly drunk, but that wasn't why he drank.

Emerald didn't want to reveal her weakness, or even what it was. Too many people knew it already and that was uncomfortable enough. This wasn't a matter of trust for her, just deeply personal information. Even Katie pushing on her emotions didn't help her to want to share the knowledge. She knew how she felt, and the fact that something else was happening made her more uncomfortable.
Sparda sensed this with her, and got a glimpse of what Katie was thinking. The purple dragon breathed a small, angry flame, and spoke sternly in everyone's mind, <If there was chance it could affect any of you Emerald would tell you. It's insulting that you think otherwise. She has gathered this team and is giving you everything she can. Let her have this secret for now.>
Hearing her friend stick up for her helped to calm her down. "What the Master has isn't a weapon. It can't be used on any of you, and it only comes from the years of battling against him. I may not look it, but I am over a hundred years old and I've spent most of my life battling the Master. He's a genius who was able to learn from every encounter, and now he knows the one thing that can beat me - me specifically - faster than anything else." Emerald took a moment, allowing her thoughts to settle. Whatever this was, the mere idea of it had Emerald physically shaking.
Dean asked about the generals, and Emerald took a deep breath. She ran a hand through her hair, and did her best to answer, "Their titles are based on classifications from the old teams, which the Master came up with himself. Some are a bit of a stretch, but they are; The Vampire - Dracula, The Demon, The Dragon, The Apprentice, The Revolutionary, The Alien, The Ranger, The Knight, The Elemental, The Arachnid, The Hunter, The Royal, The Ninja, and the Twins."
<This isn't kill or be killed,> Sparda stepped in for the second part of his question. <But, they've recruited some of the most evil, vile, forces every spawned from any reality. The multiverse will be much better off if they're killed.> Despite what his appearance would indicate, Sparda wasn't a fan of unnecessary killing. He understood Dean's feelings on the matter, and wanted to assure him that they didn't have to save anyone. Still, after hearing stories of some of the Universal Warriors and what their path to heroism was, he felt the need to add, <However, some of them are not beyond saving. Use your judgement when dealing with the Generals, but don't hesitate to kill if you need to.>

"For the record, I'd just like to say I'm with Dean on the whole killing thing. Not the biggest fan of it. Unless it's do or die, my life or the other guy's. Feel like everybody's got a chance to live. Even the scummiest of the scum, right? It's all up until the wrong buttons get pushed and sparing's no longer an option or all your mercy will get you is a nice stab in the back. Usually it's the latter with most pirates I've encountered. Turns out sinking their ships while they're docked doesn't win you too many friends." Ace commented because despite Whitebeard's fearsome reputation, the old guy was a softy deep down. He didn't kill unless his opponent had done something astronomically stupid to incur his wrath. Like killing one of his crew mates who he saw as his family. Ace being ranked highly among them due to his unique upbringing and just his volatile nature after initially joining the crew with attempting to kill Whitebeard too many times to count.
Yet there were times that the people who did deserve his wrath got away scot-free with what they did. Like Blackbeard for example, he killed Third Division Commander, Thatch just because he possessed the devil fruit that Teach had been looking for. Yet what happened after that? Blackbeard fled during the night off and started up his own crew without any reaction from Whitebeard other than anger and disappointment. Which left Ace in a precarious situation, he had no idea how adjusted Teach had gotten to his Devil Fruit over the years, having only stories and rumors of the Blackbeard Pirates to work off as he traveled along the sea on his one-man boat. But if Whitebeard wouldn't bring Teach to justice for the sins he had committed than Ace would see to it that justice was handed out as it should have been on the night of Thatch's murder.
"That said, I'm not above putting a mad dog out of it's misery. The generals that are beyond any kind of help from us? I'll send them on their way where they won't have to carry such a burden anymore." It didn't sound as cut-and-dry when Ace said it aloud but it seemed pretty simple in his head. Those who simply wouldn't change their ways whether it was their own fault or not were better off being helped to move on. So not did they avoid hurting anyone else but avoid the pain they'd endure if they continued on their path. He'd then listen up as Sparda went about listing the titles that each of the generals used. He didn't have much of an idea of who this Dracula guy was but sounded like bad news all the same. The one that caught his attention the most however was 'The Hunter.' "One of them's called the hunter, eh? Guess we'll have to beat them at their own game then. Sounds like it'll be quite the exercise for us and maybe even for them." He could have even gone as far and say it might actually be fun.

Katrina listened as Marvelous introduced himself to the group after her. His flamboyant clothing led her to believe he was some type of noble when she first saw him, and his proclamation of being a captain used to leading only confirmed that suspicion. Then, oddly enough, he essentially put to rest the idea that he might still crave that previous power, by paying Emerald a great deal of respectful acknowledgment. Katrina smiled subtly; he must have been a good leader where he was from.
Apparently, her sister Katie picked up on the same vibes and began gushing utterly over Marvelous. She literally ran circles around the man, spouting information that, for some reason, Katrina felt guilty for having no clue what she was talking about. Katrina's smirk became one of bemusement as she watched her kin squeal and sing an unknown song. She didn't exactly have the voice of an elf, but she missed the sound of it. It was a much better alternative to the silence of death that filled her ears for centuries.
Katrina and Vanilor both felt the brush of Emerald's consciousness. It was a friendly touch, but a curious one as well. Katrina resisted the urge to recoil from a mind that wasn't Vanilor, though the dragon seemed to unwelcome the touch, which Emerald would be able to pick up on, most likely.
Crocodile's next words would stir feelings inside that Katrina had nearly forgotten she was capable of feeling. He mentioned--with pride, a past that included the murder of Sith, Mistborn, and even dragons. Katrina managed to maintain her composure, despite his offensive words. Vanilor however, was less inclined to keep his calm. The silver-scaled dragon loosed at Sir Crocodile a snarl; a low grumble in his throat like oncoming thunder. The dragon sent a powerful thought outward, though directed mainly into Crocodile's mind.
<Remember your place, and speak softly, little man. There are always bigger fish.>
All in all, Katrina was glad he didn't say anything worse, but she sincerely hoped he didn't stir things up with his mental comment. She couldn't help but notice Katie finally spotting her sibling and giving her a warm smile. It was like a knife to the heart in all honesty. All the built up nostalgia hit her like a wall, and Katrina couldn't help but drop any defense she might have. She didn't want to put herself on display, but she didn't let that stop her from giving her sister a tight hug for a few moments.
"I have lost my family many lifetimes ago. Seeing you again is like a dream within a dream, Katie."
Katrina was faintly aware of Kasumi, Portgas and Spider-Man all voicing their readiness for what was to come. Were it not for her specialized ears, she might have missed Emerald's explanation. She wasn't aware of any Dracula, but the name sent a shiver down her spine. An evil vampire? It wasn't anything new, but this one just felt different. Someone able to take something valuable from Emerald and live surely had to be a threat, if nothing else. When Emerald brought up why she wouldn't be fighting, the shiver magnified. Was Emerald trembling? She shared a glance with Vanilor; they both had the same suspicion. If they were right, Emerald should definitely stay behind, but at the same time, if they were right... Katrina made a mental note to speak to Emerald in relative privacy later.

I meant no harm. I do want to help you Emerald, I know hat it's like ti devote your all to a war. I wish tere was something we could do to get rid of the Master's leverage over you.. Since that doesn't seem to be an option we'll just have to kick the cult's ass, with special attention given to him."

We'll have to talk in private when we get the chance" Katie was still blushing madly from the surprise hug, and her heart was beating a mile a minute. She really hoped Katrina or Vanilor couldn't pick up her thoughts right now as they were rather... unsisterly in nature.

The dragon sent a powerful thought outward, though directed mainly into Crocodile's mind. <Remember your place, and speak softly, little man. There are always bigger fish.>Crocodile wasn't very taken aback by the dragon's message. At this point in his life he wasn't afraid of stepping on others' toes, human or otherwise. "Trust me dragon," Croc answered with his thoughts, "I'm nothing like the other fish."Emerald took a deep breath, "Also, I won't be joining you in the battles to come. Gathering you was a huge risk to me, but one I needed to take. My reason is simple, in my travels and my battles with the Master he discovered something which can be used against me. Not only could he kill me at the mere thought using this method, but he could - if he so chose - turn me, and probably Sparda, against you all." It wasn't until Crocodile finished his cigar that he responded to what Emerald said, "Tch, some leader you all chose. Not only is she keeping something from us but she isn't willing to put her life on the line either. Not while she has us to do it." Croc didn't plan on trying to turn the group against Emerald. After all, she was the one who found him and got him involved with this quest in the first place. He only wanted what he thought was best for him and the people that fought with him. As far as he saw it, they were doing the hard work from here on out, so they deserved best. Croc scanned the group as he spoke, letting them all know he was addressing them. "Do we really want a leader like that? A leader who chooses to let evil walk away to fight again? I don't do house calls, Emerald. If we fight, we fight to win and fight to end them. I won't allow he Cult the satisfaction of ever having another chance at victory. Am I clear on that? If so, then let us not waste time.. The Cult isn't going to wait for us to get friendly with one another..."

It wasn't until Crocodile finished his cigar that he responded to what Emerald said, "Tch, some leader you all chose. The Cult isn't going to wait for us to get friendly with one another..." Emerald gave Crocodile his time to talk, uninterrupted. He raised some fair points about needing to get a move on. But, the question of leadership still seemed unclear, so to end this get together Emerald decided to do something about that. She had hoped he wouldn't cause a problem for the team, at least not one she'd need to address yet. But now he forced her hand, and her actions wouldn't drive any more a wedge between him and the team than he already has. First came the look. Emerald stared through Crocodile. Her entire face tensed as her eyes seemed to shoot daggers through him. Her breath was measured; calm and deliberate. Her voice deepened as it turned angry and cold, "What will you have us do, Crocodile? What worlds shall we journey to specifically? What's the most effective way to divide our team and attack our enemies? What powers do they possess? What is the order in which we should fight them? What do YOU know about the Cult? What do you KNOW about any thing?" Emerald paused for a moment, to let him try and come up with an answer. Slowly, she took a few steps forward, until the slender Persian woman was face to chest with him. And although she had to look up, her presence made her seem nine stories tall. "You think I won't put my life on the line? You think this secret wasn't hanging over my head while I was putting this team together? You know nothing. You're here by mistake, because I thought you may prove to have something to offer this team. But if you're just as selfish and heartless as the monsters we face, then I have no issue sending you to your death in this war." Emerald turned her back to him, and did nothing for a moment. A clear display of her power and confidence; you never turn your back on someone you fear. As she walked back to her position, she spoke two words loudly and clearly, "Adurna Moi." From the water skin at her side, a stream of water began to flow. It ran down behind her as she walked and pooled at Crocodile's feet. Emerald turned back to the group. She smiled, and her voice changed to it's usual more upbeat volume, "But he's right about one thing, we need to get a move on. We will in moment, just as long as everyone is prepared and there are no further questions." The water finally stopped as she smiled at her team.

Dean was less than thrilled at Croc's points, which, granted, had some merit, but in his eyes, Emerald was hardly in the wrong. If your greatest enemy had a gun that was loaded with your Kryptonite bullet, you'd hardly want to charge in headfirst. He was about to step in against the big man with a vouch for Emerald when the pure fire in the words she spoke halted him in his tracks. He blinked at the ferocity she showed, steel in her voice and ice in her eyes. His eyes were glued to Croc's face, gauging his reaction with a learned knowledge of reading people's expressions. An unfortunate side effect of exemplary attention to detail was something called "resting bitch-face syndrome." Assuming no one else spoke after Emerald finished, Dean's next move was to try to diffuse the massive amount of tension in the room. He clapped his hands and warmly said, " Well, how's about we get this show on the road then?" He eyed the puddle around Croc's feet. " That have anything to do with getting out there, Emerald?"

But if you're just as selfish and heartless as the monsters we face, then I have no issue sending you to your death in this war." "Bout time she showed her true face..."
In truth, Crocodile was both impressed and shocked by Emerald's outburst at him. He was beginning to wonder what her breaking point was. Now that he was getting to her, some of her true nature came out. Crocodile liked what he saw. Could have done without the puddle of water at his feet, course. But at least now he was sure he could believe her. After a few seconds silence and letting Dean ask his questions, Crocodile rebutted. "Don't think just because you brought me in, doesn't mean I haven't come up with a strategy of my own. Someone has to have a backup in case yours fails." Sir Crocodile took the cigar Logan gave him and lit it up before continuing... "Whether you regret bringing me here or not is none of my concern. You made your choice, Emerald. You told me about the Dragon Balls and agreed to give me the wish. I have no issues with you or this team you've built. I only wish to use it effectively. That includes your knowledge of the balls and our experience with the multiverse. Two things this team cannot do without. Now..."
Crocodile delayed as he turned his eyes to the rest of the group. "...assuming that Fire bender girl we ran into is a general, she should still have our dragon balls. And if she doesn't, then she knows who does. Regardless, her and her army are fire benders. I can only assume that we will find answers in their universe. So unless you have more to say Emerald, we should start there."
