OOC: now before the adventure truly begins, let’s start out slow. This is scene takes place canonically before the big explosive intro that picks up where the veteran RPers left off. It’s just to whet your whistle and get a feel for the character(s). Once I have all(or at least majority for guys who I know will be late to the party) of our players posted I will go ahead and commence with the action, a timeskip to current events. See the OOC board for more details/questions and make sure to have a character moment out of this, with filling things out. Do also try to include things like how you got there, 1st person thoughts, and even some reactions to what’s going on. Make it fun.
IC:
Approximately 25 minutes prior to the assault on Reach City’s entrance gates
Reach Island...it’s bigger than the flyers made it out to be. Whether or not you’ve been aware of it for long, the idea of it being so remote for so long was incredible. Yet here it was standing with tall, reinforced walls keeping anyone from simply walking into the city limits and banners labeled 115th anniversary. Just past them was supposedly a fully working city made from scratch. Wherever you came from or however you got there, you’re quickly fed into a small building for processing before you can gawk too much.
Up ahead was a train station set to move everyone from one side of the island to the other where the main entrances are. In fact not too far ahead you can see the batch of folks ahead of you already waiting for the tram car to arrive at the indoor station.
Closer to the waiting room you’re in was not anything to sneeze at either though. You are surrounded by all manners of creatures: humans wielding archaic weapons and futuristic looking equipment that happens to mostly be glowing, were-beasts, individuals made of fire, and all manner of non-humans surrounded you. Overall everyone was acting in...relative peace, a few shoving matches aside. Security seemed on top of things however, they seemed legitimate as all of them had an odd patch sewn on somewhere.
Still, it wasn't particularly restricting, this was a mere taste of what was promised; wonder and excitement. However before you could get there, a friendly looking man dressed in riot gear hands you a clipboard.
On it was two sheets of paper; one was a form filled with a bunch of slots for contact information they intended you to sign. It held the basics; height, weight, eye and hair color, ethnicity, and previous residence(if applicable) among others. A few interesting questions were missing, but odds were the screening would be more thorough later. There were a few things they wanted to know about you off the bat though, which was only fair, but it was also made perfectly clear nobody was going anywhere until it was all filled out. Every person entering and reentering Reach Island, unless otherwise noted, was to fill this out and you could not see a single person in the large group surrounding you who was exempt.
With everything filled out on the first paper, all that is left is to fill out the back page. Of all things, it was a questionnaire. Sort of like at the Dr.’s office, but instead of asking if you are suffering from STD’s or have had a colonoscopy done, this pertained to being a citizen/visitor of Reach city. They were very simple short-answer and multiple choice questions, some of them...interesting;
1. Do you have a superpower.
A. Yes
B. No
2. Is your superpower/any skills you possess useful in any of the following activities:(Circle all that apply)
A. Fighting
B. Destruction
C. Controlling the will of others
E. Creating things with the capabilities to do those listed above
F. Gaining knowledge at an accelerated level
3.List any and all powers, notable talents, or equipment you possess or have the potential to possess. Please be honest.

4.What is your opinion on psychics? Do you have any qualms about the idea of such powerful people that may be living in the city?(please explain in full and do not worry, such a situation is a rare occurrence)

5. Is this your first time visiting this city? (If not, we apologize in advance for the redundancy, it is in everyone's interest such precautions are made)
Y/N
6. Will you, or will you not attempt to get ahold of Reach City's pamphlet*?
Y/N
*Us here at the Gate staff recommend heavily that you do try to get the pamphlet after the Orientation if this is your first time. Ask an associate, due to the number of useful advice listed. Such as how to cooperate with the local Police and Security services, if you wish to be doing any ‘heroic’ activity.
7. You are walking down the street and minding your own business when the ground breaks apart and a vicious, horrifying monster appears. You must act quickly as everyone else is either running or standing their ground for a fight. Do you:
A. Run for your life
B. Stand and fight for survival/protection of others.
C. Try and calm everyone down before attempting to solve the situation peacefully/with words.
D. Break down crying and beg to be spared.
E. Hail the monster as your new overlord.
F. Call the cops
8. What would your honest reaction be to a loved one being hurt?
Your response?
9. What are your intentions while staying in Reach City? circle all that apply.
A. Find a new home
B. Looking for a new start or second chance?
C. Looking for excitement.
D. Vacation spot.
E. Attempt to rule this puny mound and be hailed as the new overlord.
10. Was this questionnaire helpful or informative?
Please leave any complaints or suggestions.
Y/N
When eventually finished up, it’s time to board the train...you can hear some singing coming from the first train car.
