In the late 1980s, the US government rediscovered Skull Island, a mysterious landmass inhabited by all kinds of prehistoric animals. In the 1930s, a film director and a crew of sailors brought a towering beast from Skull Island to New York City, where the creature went on a rampage. A man by the name of Doc Savage has also visited the Island multiple times, though his whereabouts are unknown. The government discovered massive nuclear readings pulsing from the island's centre. Believing that the natives were hiding weapons of mass destruction on the Island, and sent a squad of highly skilled individuals to dispose of the threat, by whatever means necessary...
Part 1: Recruitment
Jack Harkness, the immortal time agent from the 51st century, had recently made his home in London, England. He is a freelance agent of Torchwood, an anti-alien organisation formed by Queen Victoria in the late 1800s, who's primary directive is to find and imprison a man known only as 'The Doctor'...
"So, let me get this straight, you want me to go to some abandoned Island full of dinosaurs and giant gorillas with a bunch of other people in order to dispose of some nuclear threat? What makes you think I could be of assistance?" Jack Harkness asked the rather large government agent who had just entered his apartment.
"We believe that your inability to be killed will make you a valuable ally to our operations," she explained.
"Immortality isn't a gift, Waller, it's a curse. Besides, why can't you ask the Justice League or the Avengers to do this crap instead of me?" Asked Harkness.
"We cannot trust any of the superhero teams anymore. They could go rogue at any time and destroy us all. You, on the other hand, may not be able to die, but you can at least be contained should you go rogue as well. Now, I think we can cut the jibber jabber and get going, Mister Harkness,"
Amanda Waller led the way into a military helicopter. Just as Jack was about to get in as well, he was tranquillised and loaded into the chopper like a piece of cargo.
When Jack woke up, he was in a room full of armed soldiers and four other strange looking people who appeared to have also been tranquillised on the way to the top secret base. Amanda Waller then came in with a large folder full with the words 'Operation: Skull' stamped on the cover in dark red ink.
"Now, you all know what you have to do, but in case you don't, here's a quick run down. Get to the island, interrogate the natives, find the source of the nuclear readings, and I will tell you what to do after that. Alright?" Said Waller.
"Oh crap. I'm already in more than enough superhero teams," said the short hairy man in the white vest.
"You are not a superhero team!" snapped Waller, "You will complete the mission, you'll get a small reward, and that's it!"
And with that said, all five special agents were put on a plane with a destination of Skull Island. On the plane, Jack noticed that none of the other agents looked that odd. As stated before, there was a short man with a strange haircut, a bearded man with a headband on, a masked man with a target on his head, and a normal looking blonde woman. All of them were loading guns and looked ready to complete the mission and then go home.
"Ya know, I was kind of expecting all of you to be a bunch of freaks, but you all look pretty normal to me..." said Jack.
