"Heh, space-tiger." Basil snickered at Victor's comment referancing the Tertian equivalent of bigfoot, though despite his snickering Basil was growing anxious abandoned towns were what you read about in horror books and movies, it was never a good sign.
Back aways there was some whispering in the ranks as they heard the scouts reports, "Did he say the place was abandoned?" Jessica asked. Chris shook his head, "Like a ghost town." Jessica glared at him. "Did you have to use that term?"
The Lieutenant frowned at the report from John and Jose, "The town is completely abandoned? That makes no sense why would they evacuate without telling someone?" He shook his head. "Fall in, we're moving out." The detachment moved on, using a lesser known side path that took them to the south wall of Out-town. There was a hole just big enough for a man to squeeze through in the wood wall. "That's been there since the great windstorm last year. I was here helping deliver supplies." The LT explained. "We're not using the front gate, standard advance. Victor, Jessica, Jose, Persephone move forward. We'll be right behind you." He ordered drawing his pistol from it's holster, everyone else had weapons unslung and safeties off.
It had been some time since they practiced but the four would know the standard advance was for four to go in first and take firing positions and then weait for the rest of the squad to reinforce their positions, this was a defining moment, this could be the opening to a battle or.

Now that his superior officer was freaked out, Victor stopped with the joking around. He stayed upright and calm, but the fact that he was moving forward with instructions to take the utmost caution started to get the thought that there might be trouble waiting. Victor kept his gun up and he didn't have any plans to do otherwise. When it came time to pick who was scouting, he was suspiciously quiet. He'd go on orders, but he wasn't reccomending he was the first man in.
"So...how we gonna take this one?" he asks casually to break the silence.

Victor didn't have to worry about being first man in for long, this job was taken quickly by Jose. "As carefully as possible." Jose answered. He stayed close to corners of houses, ready to take cover if necessary. He did his best to look for the enemy as well as make sure the others were behind him, he figured a fight would start soon enough and although he was fine with being in one of those, he didn't like the idea of going alone.

Not being sent in with the rest, John took up post in a high tree that allowed him to see over the wall. In the distance he could see his people around the outside of the wall. Laying his cloak over a branch he readied a good perch and gun rest to allow for better precision shots. If he wasnt inside with the others he felt he had to help keep watch on the youngsters.

OOC: Sorry for my abscence got involved with a few things feel like a hypocrite nagging you for posts. But I'm here now so let's do this.
As the advanced group secured the area, the rest of the squad filed in weapons at the ready, as they scrambled for cover. Jessica kept her assault rifle trained on the windows sure ot see a muzzle flash from a gun at any moment. The others all made it through the breach except John in his tree and he could see no movement except his allies.
The only sound in the whole town was the wind blowing and the creak of a loose tin shingle, then there was a loud *SLAM!* coming from one of the houses, as if someone had dropped something heavy, Jessica gasped thinking someone had just opened fire for a split second and she nearly fired on the house.
"Secure that house!" The Lt. said.
His heart racing and not even beleiving his feet were carrying him Basil was moving toward the house, rifle at the ready. The kid was probably going to need some support though.

John heard the echo of the bang. He could see his allies pointing towards a house. John moved his scope over to the house and began scanning the windows for movement.

Victor moved to back up Basil. Sort of. He wasn't the man with the shotgun, so he would let that guy take point next to him. Instead Vic steps off to the left, as he narrows his rifle's sights through the nearest open crevice he could find, be it a window or break in the wall. Anybody who wanted to surprise him by popping through that space would be at great risk of taking a 7.62 slug to the face.
"Well...you heard the man, go in" Victor teases, though he was likewise freaked out.

Dalton took it upon himself to be the one to actualy breach the house as Basil and Victor positioned themselves by the windows and next to the door, Kimie one of the support fire followed behind him. Dalton kicked the door off the hinges, shouting "Militia!" As he entered the house Kimie followed.
There was nothing in the bottom floor which consisted of a living room and a small kitchen, a set of narrow stairs lead up to the second floor. "Clear!" Dalton called signaling Victor and Basil to follow them inside. With shaking hands Basil moved in and fixed his bayonet. Just in case, just then there was another *Slam!* from upstairs. "Upstairs let's move!" Kimie shouted, Dalton moved forward shotgun at the ready.
Meanwhile The rest of the group remained where they were waiting to make sure the house was secured. From his position Jose and Cory could make out a distinct shape behind some sand bags atop one of the town walls, a rifle barrel. It wasn't quite aimed at them it looked more like someone was resting it against the bags.
As John surveyed the scene unfolding in the town he'd hear a distinctive sound coming from the woods behind him, (Click-click-click-click)

Try to turn as slow as possible John turned to see what he already kbew was making the noise. Judging from the noise the thing wasnt too far behind.
Getting on his comms device, he radioed his Lt, "LT, I think we have a problem. I saw movement in the house and it didnt look human. Now I have one of what I think I saw close to me."
As he finished he was fully turned and could see the source of the noise. John raised his rifle slowly, trying not to prematurely set into motion the events about to unfold.

Jose moved closer, staying away from the aim of the barrel. His goal was to attempt to secure the target without killing. They could question them later.

"Aww hell..." Victor mumbles aloud. Being volunteered was never a fun job and this one was no different. The first loud noise nearly got him to discharge is gun, but some trigger discpline saves him the earful he would've gotten. As Dalton lead the way, he gets behind Kimmie, rifle pointed at the top of the staircase in case someone showed their head.
"Ladies first" he grunts, trying to lighten the mood.

John: He still didn't have a visual on the threat some shrubs obscured it from view but he could still here it, (Click-click-click) The Lieutenant was responding to him, "What? What are you talking about?" He then seemed to figure out what John meant, "Don't engage unless you have to, try and make your way back towards us." As he spoke the clicking of the thing faded and there was the slightest of shuffles as it seemed to lose interest and move on. Jose: The owner of the rifle didn't seem to see Jose as he crep closer it stayed where it was, if he moved quickly he could use a crate as a stoll and make it to the top of the wall. Jose hadn't communicated with the others about his intentions, but Jessica glanced over to see him moving towards the wall and then she saw the rifle barrel. "Aw, shit!" She cursed bringing her own weapon up and training it on the spot. This caused the others to look and see and then every gun was trained on the lone rifleman. "Hands up!" Persephone shouted but there was no response, it seemed Jose was in the best position to go over the wall and confront whoever had the rifle. Victor: There was no response from Kimie as they made it up the stairs, there was no movement in the upper levels then they quickly found the source of the noise, a door slammed and then opened as the wid blew through the house which had every window open for some reason. "You got to be kidding me." Dalton muttered at the loose door opening and closing. "That's almost a cliche." Kimie said. Dalton found a book and used it to prop the door open so it'd stop slamming. Basil meanwhile was poking around upstairs, he looked in the room that the door was slamming and shook his head, "This is creepy." He muttered the room appeared to be a child's bedroom and the kid seemed to like drawing on the walls as all kinds of weird stick figures adorned the wall: This just seemed to make things even more disturbing, suddenly Basil gasped and ran to the opposite side of the room rifle up at the ready. "Halt!" He shouted trying to sound authoritive.

John began climbing down the tree while being as quiet and cautious as possible. As he made it to the ground, he crept through the overgrowth. Squeezing through a small hole in the wall he came up adjacent to the rest of the group. "LT. I'm in position to provide support fire. Let me know when your ready to make your move. If they are what I think they are, we are going to need all the firepower we can muster."

Victor waited outside of the room in the doorway, making double sure that no horror movie type stuff happens.
"How bad's it look?" Victor asks. Despite his earlier attitude it was less funny and more worried for the rest of the squad. When Basil yelled halt, Victor lost it. In the direction Basil pointed, he points his rifle in that direction and hoped someone shined a light in that direction. "What is it man?!" Victor shouts, making it clear he's not in on what's going on.

As John rejoined the group he was quickly shushed by the LT. as he gestured to Jose moving in on a rifle barrel. As Jose made it up the wall he found himself faced with... a discarded rifle. There were a few spent casings on the ground and a few dried bloodstains. He signaled the group that everything was clear as he came down with the weapon, but he was clearly shaken up about something.
In the house Basil was looking around, "I..I saw something!" He declared in response to Victor. Dalton looked around the room too, "I don't see anything."
"I'm telling you I saw something!" Basil shouted.
"Easy kid!" Dalton said.
Kimie shook her head, "Let's head back down this place creeps me out."
