As some of you may or may not know, I had comp issues for much of April. In getting those issues fixed, I ended up losing some links to sites I frequented, and while I was scrambling to try to recover them, I stumbled across some of the original electricferret's stats. Through this, we may now have an idea of exactly how much longer EF will stay up. Here's a link: domainsigma.com/whois/electricferret.com Believe or not, these stats aren't terribly hard to find. I've also found them on several similar sites. Just scroll down or Ctrl + F to where it says "Whois Information". I'm guessing those dates are roughly when EF started, as well as roughly when it might end. IIRC, serge said that he has a lease on its server that will run out in some months. If the stats in that link are right, this means, unfortunately, unless serge miraculously changes his mind, EF will only be up for about five more months. So, if there's anything we want to recover from EF, any matches, links, character profile info, or hell, any past thread convos you all might use to troll, heh, we may have about five months to do so.

I'm a little surprised the page page rank was only a 4.
It got a 10 out of 10 from me.

Mm.. that bites. I'd maybe go and try to find my old matches, if the "Search" thing still worked... Oh, well. I'd just lose them, again, probably, anyways. I've switched computers 3 times, since I joined EF. And have wiped the memory from them, more times than I can count. :/
Offtopic, do I need to go find a new avatar? I'm seeing a broken image, on my computer screen, for only mine.

No way we can save all of the matches and character profiles on the CBUB side. Personally, I really wish there were a way to preserve the Back Issues and their comments. Those were probably the real selling point of EF to casual lurkers. Aw, well, I might at least cop the various "vs." icons to use in matches here. Offtopic, do I need to go find a new avatar? I'm seeing a broken image, on my computer screen, for only mine. If you're talking about your avatar here, I don't know about anyone else, but I can see it just fine.

If memory serves, you can use Internet Explorer, and the "access offline" function, making sure you include sub-pages as well, to essentially download the entire website.
It might be a few gigs(like 30-50), but if you want the information on that page, to be available to you, then that's a method you can use.

Hmm.. interesting. Mine's the only one that I can't see, for whatever reason. And the image URL seems to be dead, on my end, as well.

You might want to check on ProBoard's Support Forum about this. The mod team there is very helpful, as they fixed our search engine for us when we asked about it. support.proboards.com/board/80/help-guideIf memory serves, you can use Internet Explorer, and the "access offline" function, making sure you include sub-pages as well, to essentially download the entire website. I've seen you around of late, but were you also a member of the old electricferret site? Just curious. That might actually be a good way to save some aspects of EF, but I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable do so without first asking permission from serge, the old site's webmaster. Asking him might be tricky, though. We might be able to try using the old site's e-mail to contact serge, but it's entirely possible that he's shut down that function by now as well.

It was definitely weird.. The fact that the image URL seemed to be dead, though, means they might not have been able to help. I just uploaded the same image, from another source, and that's one working. So, hopefully, it stays that way. If not, I'll try to contact them, the next time. Thanks, for the tip. (:

At least, we'll always have our memories. And this place. :/ I thought he was going to use the site, for his own thing or something, though? Wouldn't letting it go, forfeit that?

I didn't notice this topic until now.
But I've got all the non-admin/moderator boards downloaded up until the around the 28th of august 2013, which was fairly close to when it was shut down for users to post.
So even after the site goes down, if anybody has something they want to use from the site, just give me a shout with where to find it, and I'll send it to you, insofar as I'm capable of doing so anyways.

I had hope that FoxFingers would come back and put the site back online. But sadly, it don’t look like it’s going to happen.

Huh, some interesting news on this. If you look at that link now, it seems that someone just bought a five-year lease on EF. We can't be sure what this means yet, though.
