Because you just KNOW some asshat's gonna be all "lol u idiot wrestling's not a real sport" if I post about this in the sports thread. So, Cena vs Del Rio for the WHC at Hell in a Cell. Choosing between those two is kind of like picking between getting skewered by a javelin and being bludgeoned by a sledgehammer. Just give the title back to Ziggler, dammit. Or Sheamus when he gets back. Or Christian. Or Jericho. You know, the guys with actual talent. >.> Not sure about the massive push Bryan's been getting. I've never found him particularly interesting with a mic or in the ring. Team Hell No was good and all but I don't think I could see him as the long-term face of the company. Also, I'm getting sick of this Bryan vs Orton feud already. This is, what, their third PPV match in a row? I'd take Punk as WWE Champ over either of them. Orton's been bland since he dropped his kick-in-the-head move. I miss the old Legend Killer.

I know this is an older post but I’ve been gone for a while. So with that... Trust me, I share in your “Why Cena” angst, but ths sad truth is they need some body to bring attention to the WHC, and he’s the best man for the job. For some reason Christian can’t seem to get over that hump. Sheamus has been stale for a couple of years now (yes the same applies to Cena) Ziggler is great once the bell rings, but is terrible on the mic That leaves us Jericho, and let’s face it, he’s part time, and that’s assuming that he’ll even come back at this point. And the sad truth is the WWE has been unable to make any new stars in the past 10 years. As for Super Cena, he does make the WWE money and that’s all that the McMahon is worried about. So get ready for him being the face of the PG era company a few more years. The day he breaks Ric Flair’s record (gonna happen, I’ll say 16 months at the latest) will be a dark day for wrestling

I don't think he #heels. Ziggler's one of the best mic guys they have, and he's the best seller in the business. Bar none.

John Cena looks like he needs to rest. WWE and Cena can't keep acting like he can wrestle for WWE forever. He is getting up there in age.
As far as Punk is concerned WWE gave him everything. He had one of the longest title reigns in history, wrestled Undertaker at Wrestlemania, beat Triple, fought Rock, and more. If he needed time off he should have discussed it with Vince. No excuse for walking out.
One last note I love Shield and the Wyatt Family. Many stars will come from both groups.

The fact that he keeps getting pushed down to the mid card is borderline criminal. But there’s a reason he didn’t talk when he was in The Spirit Squad. there was a reason he only said “Hi, I’m Dolph Ziggler,” forever. There is a reason when he got paired with Vickie and then AJ, they did his mic work for him. He can’t talk to a live crowd. Ziggler needs a manager to work the crowd so he can wrestle. What do you think about Ambrose’s future? It’s like he’s the bastard son of Brian Pillman and the Joker. Personally, (I hope I’m wrong) I don’t think he’s going to fit in a PG era.

LOL WWE stopped being full PG since last year. Honestly that's not even the problem anymore. Their too focused on Cena/Orton and bringing back past stars to give younger guys the big push they finally need. Yeah Bryan is getting a huge push now but lets see where he is after Mania. They have so many stars and great wrestlers they need to push it's not even. WWE could have been making higher ratings and more money already to the point they wouldn't even have to rely on past stars for Wrestlemania.
Ziggler got paired with Vickie and AJ because they refused to make him a face regardless of how over he is which by the way Ziggler is over no matter what they do to bury him. Ziggler is great on the mic. I don't where your getting he isn't good on the mic. He has so much charisma he could past it around like candy to other stars that need it.
To their credit the tag team division is great again and fun.

What do you think about Ambrose’s future? It’s like he’s the bastard son of Brian Pillman and the Joker. Personally, (I hope I’m wrong) I don’t think he’s going to fit in a PG era. The main reason the Big E/AJ/Ziggler team was so ridiculously over was because of how charismatic all three of them were. Every time they showed up backstage they ended up doing or saying something hilarious. As far as crowd working goes, again I disagree. His crowd segments after he turned face against Del Rio were great. He shines more in the one on one interview niche but there's no question he can do both. Don't you think it's more than a coincidence that the time he split up with Vickie and started saying more than "Hi I'm Dolph Ziggler" was around the time he became insanely over with everybody? Also, the Spirit Squad was pretty much terrible by all standards no matter how you look at it. There is a reason people don't acknowledge or talk about it. Ambrose is amazing so he definitely SHOULD have a big future ahead of him, but the WWE seem more inclined to push Reigns up into the top-level babyface picture right now. Which isn't a bad thing, really - Reigns has improved a lot in a really short amount of time, and considering the era of Orton, HHH, Taker and Cena is drawing to a definite close it's about time they started laying the foundation for their future megastars. Ziggler, Barrett, Ambrose, Rollins and Cesaro are a few of the guys they should be building up in the same way, because they all have amazing potential (Rollins, for instance, I could see being their next Jeff Hardy, and Cesaro is just... Cesaro). Sami Zayne, too, whenever he comes up from NXT. They're the kinds of guys who, along with Bryan, could take the burden from Cena/Orton's shoulders and carry the WWE main event picture in the future. EDIT: I get a real Benoit vibe from Ambrose. Which, from a kayfabe point of view, is by no means a bad thing.

Occupy Raw was hilarious, and I'm getting a real Stone Cold vs. Mr. McMahon/Bret Hart vs Mr. McMahon vibe when it comes to Bryan vs the Authority. That is, if Stone Cold had been a bit less crass and McMahon was an actual physical threat

Raw was decent. The Bryan vs Corporation (That's what it should be anyways) feud is not Stone Cold vs Vince by any means but its okay. I hope they use this Mania to put over all the young stars finally. Although its pretty obvious no matter what Batista is winning. I don't see Batista coming back to win the Rumble and lose at Mania.

I think Bryan has gotta be the most over superstar since Stone Cold, bar none. I'm still not completely marking out for him the way I do for some of the roster, but I can acknowledge that he's pretty good.
I pray for CM Punk's return every night.
Raw was pretty good, but I was disappointed none of my favorite midcarders showed up. Speaking of which, has anyone heard about Zack Ryder?
He uploaded this to his YouTube channel the other day. Looks like he's trying for another push. I dunno about the rest of you, but I'm 100% behind the guy. While I can't see him ever being WWE Champ or headlining Wrestlemania or anything, he's actually got a lot of talent both in the ring and when he's allowed to properly talk (and not just spout his silly catchphrases). I think he deserves another run as US or IC champ, because the fact that he got so ridiculously over with the fans just a few years ago and is now jobbing to Brodus Clay on Superstars and the like is just ridiculous. This guy has already proved he can make money, so why are guys like Santino and Fandango getting regular matches on Raw over him? I do think he needs to lose the glasses and headband though. Dress like he did in that video.
I have to wonder if the WWE have any actual plans for Titus or if they just turned him heel and gave him a new theme for laughs.
I think Ziggler might finally be getting a push, however minor. I heard he beat Del Rio cleanly during the Smackdown tapings, then got mic time to boot.

CM Punk likely won't return any time soon. If he does come back, he's going to do it at the most opportune time, possible Summer Slam or Survivor Series, somewhere when he can make an impact. Plus, he walked out partly due to being so damn sick all the time now at days. So he won't be back anytime soon. There's a bit of a question going around that if he returns around Royal Rumble next year and goes to Main event next year's Mania, would it make him a hypocrite, and I think no. The reason being that he's been busting his ass for years and is only taking time off for a mix of protest and recovery time. That and, despite being champion for longer than anyone in recent history, he never really got to main event, unless he was wrestling Cena (or the Rock I believe), so unlike a returning Rock or Batista he has never been to the Main event of the biggest show despite earning it time and time again.
Paul Haymen a few weeks ago was brilliant, by the way. He always is, but tying Punk's absence to the Undertaker was a work a sheer genius. I'm not big on Brock Lesnar since he returned, and think that this match is a waste of Undertaker's talent but Haymen made me look forward to it a bit more.
I for one am a HUGE Zack Ryder fan. I have been since he started the gimmick in WWECW. Back when the who "Fandangoing" craze hit - before WWE dropped the ball on that one - I was hoping for a Ryder Fandango fued, based around Fandango's rising meme status and Ryder's long standing run as the Internet champion. So I'd be all for a Ryder push. Hell, with the tag team division getting a spotlight on it, Ryder could even get a partner and have a tag run. That could get him noticed enough for an eventual singles run.
Ziggler's overdue for a push, considering he got robbed of his World Title run thanks to that concussion. Shame they just swept that under the rug. He was on fire with the crowd back then.

That could get him noticed enough for an eventual singles run. Ziggler's overdue for a push, considering he got robbed of his World Title run thanks to that concussion. Shame they just swept that under the rug. He was on fire with the crowd back then. Yeah, I at least partly understood his reasons for walking out. I mean, for year after year Punk's work record was practically spotless - he even showed up and wrestled for Smackdown (which is almost as irrelevant as JTG's employment status these days) almost every week, yet he never got a really big Cena or Orton-level push. Even while he had the belt he kinda just wore it as an ornament while Cena and the Rock went at it. Another of his points was that the WWE seem to have been big on bringing back talent from the past as of late, what with the Rock, Lesnar and now Batista coming back as part timers and getting really big pushes, while full time guys like him were sort of just put on the backburner. Punk's always been my favorite "top guy" in WWE - partly due to the fact that back when he first showed up on WWECW was more or less around the time I got hooked on wrestling, so I've been following his career there through the years - so I'd be really sad to see him go. His contract is up in July, so we'll just have to wait and see if he re-signs. Paul Heyman must be the best crowd worker in existence. I was really really really really annoyed initially when they had Punk's theme hit only for the Paulrus to waddle his way out, but that promo was so good I literally cooled down about two minutes later. I've always really liked Lesnar, I think he's got talent on the mic and in the ring, but if I'm not mistaken he hasn't really wrestled a proper match since returning so yeah, not exactly impressive. We got more-or-less cheated out of one with Big Show (no real loss considering they've fought a million times and it's stale at this point, but still) and that aside I think he's just beaten the shit out of Mark Henry, like, three or four times. Speaking of which, I understand that they need to build Lesnar's credibility going into Mania by having him take out tough SOBs, but they're reeeeeeally making Henry look weak by having him repeatedly swagger out to challenge Brock just to get his ass beat in two seconds. They should have Lesnar rip apart Khali or Big E or someone while they're waiting for April. They definitely had lightning in a bottle with Ryder back in 2011. I mean, how many guys manage to get THEMSELVES over with literally no help from the execs? It's a real shame they wasted it. The pop when Ziggler's music dropped and he cashed in on Del Rio last year is still one of the best things I've ever heard. And this was when Del Rio was face and Ziggler was heel, too. I know the WWE are still ticked off with him because of some backstage remarks he made at Summerslam, but they really need to get over it and push him back to the top again. That's where he thrives. Midcard really doesn't do him justice. On another note, I'm looking forward to Jericho and RVD coming back, assuming they do at this point. WWE need to spice up their main event picture and since they apparently aren't willing to use the guys they already have, those two should shake things up a bit.

Great discussion here. CM Punk's feud with Raven is one of my favorite because both cut some awesome promos. We don't know why Punk left but its wrong to just walk out when you were under contract. If he was sick he could have asked for time off and he definitely would have gotten it. Now if he walked out because of backstage politics and bullshit then that's different.
I feel bad for Batista but WWE and Batista with his big ego should have known better. Batista was never on Rock's level and even wasn't on Cena's level. Yea he was a top star but not actually Cena or Rock's level where WWE thought he could come back and immediately be over as hell. Batista though was right below that level.CM Punk on the other hand was on Cena's level.
I think if WWE doesn't push any younger talent at this Mania there gone be in big trouble with the audience. Bray Wyatt, Bryan, Reigns, and more all need to shine. For once Cena, Orton, and more need to step back for others to shine. I hope Sting shows up at Mania or the Raw after because that would be huge.
I love Lesnar because he is a monster and is great to see in action. However him and Taker had a great feud already in the past. This feud won't be on that level or close so what's the point.
