Some final thoughts on the Database structure?

I'm all for keeping the categories as simple as possible. I agree with ruins thoughts from the pm message.

I think the only logical approach would be the "good enough" one. We can be literal and critical about it by creating a plethora of ultra specified genres and categories for each medium... or, for simplicity's sake, we can use just a handful of generally all encompassing categories and stuff the genres where they fit best.

It seems like a lot of thought went into this, and rightfully so! I can understand the roadblock that exists, however too much of anything can be overwhelming. Personally, I like the idea of having different profiles for comic Avengers and the MCU Avengers. They are different enough to justify it, in my humble opinion. However, we could go by that same thought process and end up dissecting everything until our brains are numb and our fingers are bleeding--and for what? What, I say!?

Anyway, whatever particular thoughts you might have, feel free to post, and I'll surely share my thoughts as well.

I think the categories are fine as is, some might fall in more than one category but it's up to those making the database on whether they work better in one or another.

To add to this, part of the motivation behind possibly changing things up also seemed to be to make things simpler, or at least more clear and appealing, so that any user can add their own character profiles, and not just the staff. 

Do all of the character profiles have to look the same (as in, do you have to have the same format in every one?)

With regard to the anime/manga section we could possibly change it to a "Foreign Category" or "International" that way anything not from the U.S could be put in there.

As for real life figures, those should have a category on their own. That seems simple to me.

That seems unnecessary to me if someone wanted to use a character they've modified I think a simple authors note before the story would take care of that.
