Terranova being a girl reminds me that I've never noticed the gender indicator at the bottom of the profile icon until just this moment. And does anyone have a link to the chat? My old shortcut just gives me a connection failed error. You're welcome >:DD I think I'm gonna own this role. Since I'm the only woman here.

I remember the webmaster FoxFingers talk about the uber creepy stalker shenanigans on the old site... *shudders*.

I only know about the Shellbut incident. Were there more? With Shellbut's, I think the guy took off as soon as soon as he saw Shellbut was weirded out.
Do the links in the Chat thread still work? I haven't been there in quite some time, so I wouldn't know. Jesus posted ones to CBUB's and UWT's there, though. The thread's in the "Faq" section. I'd just post the links, but I can't copy and paste on this thing..

#UWT seems fine, but #CBUB no longer appears to exist.. Was someone required to keep it activated somehow, but let it die due to no activity?
Edit: Nevermind. It's still there, you just have to enter it manually for some reason.

Very late, I know, heh, but I'm going to address some things here. I have a serious reason why this new site attracts less people. The general aesthetic design of this new site, compared to the old Electric Ferret, is somewhat generic and not all that special. I understand that effort was put into it, but the weird 'Marvel DC United' thing in the background looks a bit tacky in my opinion and doesn't really tell anyone what this site is actually about. Let's face it, there are probably hundreds of other sites with basically the exact same theme as this one that are more renowned and popular. I do agree the background design could use some switching up, and now that greenlighting has come up with some new good-looking and diverse designs, we can look into adding them here. I'd like to see more opinions on the design before we move on it, though, from both the regular members and the staff. Same goes for g4hardcore's suggestions about a new F.P.A. system. As mentioned previously, it's hard to get a reading on what the community wants when only a scant few make and comment on proposals for the forum. On average anywhere from 12-20 members log in at MagneticFox regularly. Surely it would be reasonable to expect at least a good 9-10 of these regulars to have their say-so on these matters, right? The reason why quite a fair number of them are like that? Because the websites have something unique going for them, just like the Electric Ferret. It had a ginormous database of fictional characters (which is here also, but is less easy to navigate by comparison) and of course, a unique way of creating the official matches. Magnetic Fox to the average browser, on the other hand, appears to be a generic looking Marvel/DC fan forum with only a few active members. By comparison, sites such as Wikipedia and Comic Vine actually have databases with many more characters than either here or on the electricferret, but yeah, EF's was still pretty impressive and diverse. Unfortunately, there's probably not much we can do to improve on the technical side of things currently. Unlike EF, which serge privately owned and ran, MagneticFox is just a small part of the ProBoards online service. We don't have a skilled programmer to create something like a character or match creator. As for the search function, if something that exists here doesn't show in searches, we have to go to ProBoards Support and ask one of the site admins to reindex the forum to correct that, and sometimes even that doesn't always work. There's also the fact that we may take battles between fictional characters a little too seriously at times. Compared to the old Electric Ferret, there aren't that many silly or funny battles between unlikely rivals anymore. Not that there weren't the generic Deathstroke vs Deadpool or Superman vs Goku fights on the Electric Ferret, but there were also far more unique and weird battles as well. That added to the appeal of CBUB; there was always something for serious fans who wanted to have proper debates, and there was always something for less serious fans who just wanted to talk about how an unlikely meeting between their favourite idols would work out and make jokes. Nowadays, we always seem to limit ourselves to only ever making battles between comic book and fighting game characters with the very occasional fight between characters from other media (I myself am guilty of this). Whenever weirder and less serious rumbles or matches are made, they usually get almost completely ignored. By doing this, we are limiting the potential appeal of the Magnetic Fox. Basically, I'm saying that we could try to make rumbles and matches not only more frequently, but with more variety so as to do what the original CBUB was built for; to attract fans of all different franchises and media and unite fandoms. Heh, you know, you're sounding like more than a few of the vets back on the old EF. Some were basically saying the same things on EF, that there were too many matches that were straight fights and not more diverse match ideas. From what I see, we're really making "Let's fight" match-ups at about the same rate on MagneticFox. It just seems like there's less diversity because there are so many fewer matches regularly than back on EF. And to be honest, matches overall haven't really been commented on so much, not just the non-fights. If more people would comment on the matches as well as make them, the increase in participation overall would go very far in keeping others interested and attracting new members.

Since you guys are already on the topic of new members and recruiting on this thread, I figured I would join in... I know I'm pretty new, but I can really see how passionate you all are about keeping this place running and expanding. I've been thinking of suggestions and the biggest one I have is an "Introduction Page" of sorts. Not any huge thread, but something that explains "Hey! This is why we're here!", "This is what we do!", "Goals!", etc. It's essentially the page that we can link to possible recruits to get them interested. Then it could be followed by a list/tour of the cool things that we have here, such as the Character of the Month, opportunities to post Fanfiction, rumbles, friendly tournaments/competitions, role-playing, well-informed debates, and an ever-expanding database! (Plus explanations of some of the things that were introduced in the old site, but are still relevant here, like the INC, UWT, the difference between rumbles and official matches, etc.)As a new member, someone who has NO past experience with forums, AND wasn't a member of the old site, I'm at a HUGE disadvantage. Lol. It took me a while to sift through the forums and learn my way around. (I still don't know much about anything, really...)Sure, looking around, I could probably find everything I need to know... eventually. Anyway, my point is, I feel like a page spelling all this out right off the bat would be helpful for any new additions and even people like me that still don't know what other things this site really has to offer... Very good suggestions here. I discussed this with the staff a while back, and we pretty much agreed that, instead of creating an entire Intro page (which would likely mean creating a entire new forum for that purpose), what would be most ideal is if we make threads for each section in the FAQ board and possibly moving that board at or near the top of the MagnenticFox home page so members new and old can view them more easily.

And just as a thought, I'd like to thank the admins and staff here on MagneticFox for all their hard work and time they put into this site. No matter if we have a lot of activity on the site or none, they are always here adding more characters for us to use. They could be doing so much more with their time and I just want y'all to know your efforts are appreciated.

You know, a background that would be cool is different characters facing off against each other on either sides of the screen. The thing that would make it work, however, would be for the images to constantly switch every time someone reloads the page. That might be a bit more advanced than what the forum software allows for though.

The characters should be from universes commonly used and seen on this forum, if that's what we're going to do (please say we are, because that's a great idea, Ruinus). Characters from the world's of DC, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Marvel, RWBY and that Mistborn thing everyone constantly talks about could maybe be included. Oh, and the INC characters could be in the background too.

Yeah, that's what I imagined. So for instance, Spiderman on the left of the screen, a Power Ranger on the right. Then, when you click onto the next page in a thread, or switch to another thread or forum or whatever, it's now Godzilla on the left and Mario on the right. So on and so forth.
Ideally they'd be user submitted images of the characters (and, it'd be really cool if they were drawn by the users). That way everyone actually feels like they've got a hand in the design.
Like I said though, I'm not sure this website's forum allows that.
