The FPL TV Tropes page still exists, though it still says that FPL is still going... Which it isn't. It also mentions nothing about this site's FPL equivalent. This stuff must be changed!

Where else is everybody in their respective lives anyway? My name is Sid (for those who have forgotten) and I'm a current sophomore at the University of Chicago, studying Economics. I'm in a fraternity (SAE), play baseball, and do waaaayyyy too much homework every day. Ah, glad to finally have a chance to catch up to you force. Forgot you mentioned on EF you were going to be attending college in my neck of the woods. Well, I think college helped me mature a lot, and I'd like to think that I'm a better person than I was back then, and I'm prepared to contribute to this new/old community in a more positive way, if you guys'll have me of course. Eh, I think most of us have learned some things since those days. One thing I'm learning since EF shut down is something I was probably a bit lacking in from those days (especially with this forum, lol) is patience. As to how you can contribute? I guess for now the best thing would be is to simply participate overall, whether it's in the Match Boards, in the Imagine Nation Chronicles (this place's version of the old FPL), in the RP Community, in the Other MagneticFox Fiction section, or even to make suggestions about how things can be improved, etc. here. Anyways, enjoy your stay here, force.

General question for you Foxferrets....what's our view on introducing new people to the site? I know we are a bit of a tight bunch from the old days of cbub but the site isn't as active as it used to be. Maybe new blood wouldn't hurt? Idk....it's always been something that I felt was a bit taboo to me...

Thing is, to even try to do this, more of the regulars already here have to show more interest in MagneticFox than they have so far. You know, contribute, whether it's by participating in the activities as they are or making good suggestions on how we can make things more interesting here. Yes, I know you've been making pretty good effort at it, Russ, along with some others. But more of you guys could be stepping up a little. LEGACY has started Character of the Month and is trying to help get a new writing tournament off the ground. treacherous helped create the INC for fans of the old FPL. Still, there hasn't been a lot of participation in any of these things. Yes, brand new members would be very nice, but to get them to come and stick around, we have to present something that would make them want to do so. A good start to this would be for the regulars to participate more, as new members aren't going to want to stick around on a forum where few people show up anyway.

Maybe we need to prove how undeniably HIP and KEWL we are by rewriting all of the INC characters into gun-toting, cigar-smoking, beer-drinking, mullet-rocking hardcases with names like 'Bloody Blood Man' and 'Time Continuum Skull Slasher'. That'll attract scores of people to the site.

I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't very into INC or FPL. Even though I've been interested in it, the database and lore already made for it is too daunting for me. I stick to what I know, that being rumbles, official matches, RPs, and general discussions. But I try to do more. I know I've been a bit inactive as of late, happens to all of us. But my devotion to this site does not waver. I will do my best to keep new members interested.

Man, I remember I started going to this website in high school. Now I'm in college applying for a teacher's clearance credential for next quarter.
But I've still got no girlfriend. So some things never change.

22 years old? Niiiiice. Congrats on all your accomplishments. I'm almost 23 now... but thanks Hugo. I've accomplished a few more things since I made that post. Maybe it will become a yearly thing I can look back on and think about how far I've come since then. That's a nice thought

I have a serious reason why this new site attracts less people. The general aesthetic design of this new site, compared to the old Electric Ferret, is somewhat generic and not all that special. I understand that effort was put into it, but the weird 'Marvel DC United' thing in the background looks a bit tacky in my opinion and doesn't really tell anyone what this site is actually about. Let's face it, there are probably hundreds of other sites with basically the exact same theme as this one that are more renowned and popular. The reason why quite a fair number of them are like that? Because the websites have something unique going for them, just like the Electric Ferret. It had a ginormous database of fictional characters (which is here also, but is less easy to navigate by comparison) and of course, a unique way of creating the official matches. Magnetic Fox to the average browser, on the other hand, appears to be a generic looking Marvel/DC fan forum with only a few active members.
There's also the fact that we may take battles between fictional characters a little too seriously at times. Compared to the old Electric Ferret, there aren't that many silly or funny battles between unlikely rivals anymore. Not that there weren't the generic Deathstroke vs Deadpool or Superman vs Goku fights on the Electric Ferret, but there were also far more unique and weird battles as well. That added to the appeal of CBUB; there was always something for serious fans who wanted to have proper debates, and there was always something for less serious fans who just wanted to talk about how an unlikely meeting between their favourite idols would work out and make jokes. Nowadays, we always seem to limit ourselves to only ever making battles between comic book and fighting game characters with the very occasional fight between characters from other media (I myself am guilty of this). Whenever weirder and less serious rumbles or matches are made, they usually get almost completely ignored. By doing this, we are limiting the potential appeal of the Magnetic Fox.
Basically, I'm saying that we could try to make rumbles and matches not only more frequently, but with more variety so as to do what the original CBUB was built for; to attract fans of all different franchises and media and unite fandoms.

I will agree that this site isn't the most appealing site I've ever seen. But we did what we could to keep the community together and do it quickly. Maybe now is the time to focus more on how the site looks and feels so we can bring in new members and keep them around.
