The article from that site is based on a fan message board called AvatarSpirit.net, where a user claimed to have behind the scenes knowledge about Shyamalan’s film. That's a horrible source. All I am saying is me personally I cannot say Evolution was treated better as a film then Last Airbender. People tend to let there bias because of their love for a material being adapted that was done horribly and get it confused with the overall film product. Last Airbender was given a superhero sized budget to work with which allowed it to have better production and more in the film making process. That's all I am saying. Of course Last Airbender had horrible acting, bad casting, the script was fucked up, and so much more. But it had beautiful scenes at certain points in the film like this one below that blows away anything done in Dragonball Evolution. That's how bad Evolution was as a film. They treated Evolution like some horrible direct to dvd film you buy for 5 bucks at Walmart and Dragonball is one of the most popular manga that rivals DC as well as Marvel in popularity.

If you think DB is dumb going in the movie's only going to be dumb. I'm working up the nerve to buy both these terrible movies from my local dumb dvd store and watch them back to back to see how terrible they are. I'll stand by my statements on what DBE does do right. Not in their choices on how they were executed at times (could have gotten an actual male actor to play Goku) but at least they "kinda" showed creative thinking or at least attempts to make a movie. Last Airbender....Well....there's a reason I'm buying it from a crappy second hand store. *draws katana* and I might even film it. This is true. But I don't know if she'd like Avatar any better; she doesn't watch much cartoons of any sort. But she liked the Avatar, Astro Boy, and Speed Racer movies(and possibly others I'm forgetting), despite that. Being a DragonBall fanboy, I will probably have the same opinion as BBJ, but we shall see. You're going to buy it just to destroy it?! o.O I could never do that. I'm way too cheap to waste money like that. Hell, I even still have my copy of DB: Evolution, even though I'll likely never watch it again. :/ At least it gave me a fun PSP game, I guess. Enjoyed it way more than the movie.

I just want to add they gave Last Airbender the visual effects supervisor for Industrial Light and Magic who worked on Star Wars Episode 2 at the time along with James Newton Howard who did the music. One of the producers Frank Marshall had a hell of a resume that is very good. Honestly if they had a different Director who also had someone else write the script and the studio had not fucked around with it the film would have been great overall then what it turned out to be.
I already said myself I don't know how Night keeps getting work in Hollywood. It must be the fact Hollywood doesn't have a lot of Directors they can rely on at the moment. The real good Directors take time with there films and don't put out a whole bunch in a short amount of time which is good.

I'm going to rewatch Dragonball Evolution right now, I remember enjoying it when I first saw it.
EDIT: A few minutes in, I remember that this Goku is a bit more of an actual person than the comic version, since at least initially he feels isolation by being different, frustration at the world and feels attraction to girls. Unlike the cartoon version, who cares about fighting and food.
Oh sweet Jesus, I remember loving Goku's daydream while in class and I loved it on a second viewing.

Also, the shipping of Goku and Bulma is actually possible in the Evolution setting, which is what I thought would happen when I was a little kid watching Dragonball for the first time. Seriously, look at that Bulma

As attractive as she looks in those pics, they really did her a disservice in that movie, holy shit.. And when people start talking about DB: Evolution's good points, that's when Prof. Farnsworth says he doesn't want to live on this planet anymore.

When it's compared to the absolute shiteating trainwreck that was The Last Airbender, I find highlighting its good points acceptable.

You realize I'm going to have to watch both of these back to back, now, don't you? To confirm which one is actually worse. And at the end of this 3 hour session of torture, I'm almost sure I'll be asking myself, "Why am I still a member of this forum?" :/

It was a little weird that the Emily Rossum Bulma only had streaks of blue hair, since punk is a real life hairstyle, it would have been completely believable for her to have full blue hair. She was already dressed in that sort of clothing that could easily explain the hair color as dye, so it made no sense to give make her a brunette. Similarly, she's a bit more altruistic in this version than in the cartoon, since if I recall her cartoon wish was for a perfect boyfriend. Here, her wish is for unlimited energy for all mankind. That's a wish that is much more beneficial to the world than wishing Roshi back to life.
Also, the idea to revive Roshi is odd, since wouldn't have Goku wanted to wish for his grandpa back?
