Can't wait to see Avengers 2: Age of Ultron even though it's gonna be a while. Can't wait to see Ultron on the big screen. Also, wonder how and by who Ultron will be created since Hank Pym isn't involved in the movie

I don't think they've said anything about Hank Pym being or not being in it. They're coming out with a solo Ant Man movie so it might be explained in that too.

Seen Man of Steel today..... It was a basic superman/hero story. It also seems as if Zach Snyder kinda went OD on the action scenes. But all in all, the fights were good but it was a good movie

Okay. So, Thor 2 was... all right. Nothing terrible, nothing spectacular. Pretty much exactly like the first one. It was a bit of a let down compared to the awesomeness that was Iron Man 3 and the Avengers, but it'll do. Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Eccleston and Idris Elba all put in great performances. Three of the above mentioned are British, one is Australian. Hint hint, Americans. But damn, that 3-minute-long Captain America 2 trailer was the best part of the movie. It literally looks jaw-droppingly amazing. The first Cap was my favorite of the individual build-up-to-the-Avengers movies (followed by Iron Man 3 (yes I know that wasn't part of the buildup), Iron Man 1, Thor, Incredible Hulk then Iron Man 2), so I'm pumped. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLWsK1ZFunA

Hey now. The best cast person in the Avengers franchise(RDJ) is American!

Ok, I just watched Pacific Rim. Awesome Movie. I loved all the fights, wished there was more... But it left me with a few questions...
1) Why would they think a Wall would work in the first place....
2) Even if they thought that they were just mindless beasts at first. Why wouldn't they put Defensive installations along the wall anyway... Like Batteries of those Plasma Cannons that Gypsy Danger had.
3) Even if they had the wall, why discontinue the Jaeger Program if they've had a Decent track record so far (Aside from the recent string of losses) They could use the Jaegers to augment the wall, and contain inevitable breaches. Because only complete idiots would think that a breach could never happen. Then again the same kind of idiot was probably in charge of White Star Lines, when they were building the Titanic...
4) Why didn't they equip Jaegers with Melee weapons in the First place... Sure a Plasma Cannon, or a Rack of Oversized missiles is decent at range... but I had the impression that Jaegers were meant to engage the Kaiju in Hand to Hand combat. Essentially I saw them going in Bare Handed, except for the Tanker, and eventually the Sword and Fist Blades... The Chinese however had those Buzz Saws... that's a start I guess?
5) If all the Kaiju emerge from the singular Rift. A Known location in the Pacific... why not mass Jaegers there to guard it, build a Substantial Defensive Installation around it, and Blow the Beasts to pieces the moment they emerge... I'm sure it would have cost Trillions of Dollars Less then a Wall spanning the whole rim of the Pacific Ocean...

Honestly - the movie actually requires suspension of disbelief. That was its intention I supposed, especially when the film's more geared towards introducing the genre of mechas and kaijus to kids more so than adults (though it's still enjoyable for adults ^^)
They were desperate. People do desperate things I suppose, even if it doesn't always succeed.
Actually I had the exact same question - why not mount batteries of those on the frickin' wall even right? Or even support craft outside the wall in the waters. Maybe something like Battleships/Destroyers designed for shallow waters armed with plasma cannons/rail guns (since the shallow waters would force bigger Kaijus to above its surface and hence free potshots!) That would ensure its well being and keep Kaijus at bay so Jaegers could arrive there. Might not have even been necessary for Jaegers unless were it like 3 kaijus at once. Also another issue I had was: Why not use railguns? We're already experimenting with railguns and lasers currently - first attack came through in 2013. >.> Why not speed up production of those alongside the Jaegers. Might have been used if they needed a cheaper alternative to plasma cannons (probably a lot easier and faster to construct). Or even missile pods holding the missiles the Mark 5 Jaeger Striker Eureka has mounted within its chest. I understand the issue with the Kaiju Blue but missiles were used in killing Kaijus (plasma was utilized to reduce the spread of Kaiju Blue - missiles don't do that and a rail gun round to the skull might even produce less than friggin' missiles >.>)
They discontinued it for exactly that reason: the string of losses. It wasn't recent, it was over the years and they were losing more and more frequently. More Kaijus came in faster and more frequently and they lost Jaegers faster than they could build them. Desperation rears its ugly face again here.
Actually they kinda did. Cherno Alpha, the Mark 1 Jaeger of the Russians', had a unique melee system - it used hand to hand, aye, but it had what was called "Roll of Nickels" within it's hands that boosted its striking force exponentially, pistons in its arms to further supplement, and a taser-like mechanism to once more further supplement its blows. As Stacker Pentecoast said... it's a brutal war machine. Otachi was at Cherno Alpha's mercy until it pulled the acid move before Leatherback made its entry into the foray. Thing was a beast and the Russian Coastline was never breached for what... six years... Striker Eureka also kind of renders melee weapons unnecessary to a degree since it was the most advanced Jaeger of its time - it was so fast and its pilots fought dirty that they were able to typically render a Kaiju incapacitated/immobilized before finishing it off with the aforementioned missiles. The only time it pulled out it's blades was against Slattern, a Class 5, and it actually held its own. Also Jaegers weren't entirely meant for hand to hand: I refer to Stacker's old Jaeger, the Mark 1 Tango Coyote. It was primarily ranged. Crimson Typhoon was said to be effective, with its three arms. I kinda fail to see the efficiency when three of its pilots can't be bothered to notice the grappling appendage that resulted in their deaths. >.>
Because Jaegers weren't typically designed for underwater combat. The likes of the Mark 1 Jaeger Romeo Blue (The blue Jaeger that's seen three times, first whilst being constructed (its leg, to be specific), the second after a victory over a Kaiju and a parade, and the third its destruction in Seattle if I recall correctly) and such might have been. But their performance is still inferior to the likes of the newer Marks (3 and up, exceptions notwithstanding). Before a rebuttal comes through, imho, I don't think the series at the time when the Breach first opened up were modified for running underseas. The Jaegers they had left were retrofitted for the suicide mission Stacker had in mind, hence all the upgrades and such for Gypsy Danger imho. It would also be kinda difficult to build something similar to the Shatterdome around its immediate proximity and construct for what would take months to likely a year whilst Kaiju attacks are coming through - the next attack came in 6 months if I recall correctly. The next was 4 months, so you get my point. Plus the Kaijus were far more effective underwater than they were out of water - even in deep waters off the mainland, Gypsy Danger and Crimson Typhoon/Cherno Alpha got wrecked, so earlier series might have gotten destroyed even faster then. Constant surveillance was possible though, as seen in Hong Kong's Shatterdome, so anti-kaiju weapons ready at all times would surely have been plausible though.
Believe me, I've spent a lot of time analyzing this movie cuz it was great and it's fun to do so. Also why I spend time analyzing the introduction/interaction of Toho Kaijus into Pacific Rim (it wouldn't end well for Pacific Rim at all)

Actually I think Cherno Alpha might have suffered seriously underwater, performance-wise - it was the heaviest Jaeger around and the slowest plodding one at that. :/

Jesus Christ man. You have a lot to say about this movie that doesn't have to do with Idris Elba.

IF IT WAS ONLY ABOUT IDRIS ELBA, IT WOULDN'T BE THAT GREAT HONESTLY.
LIKE SAY... PROMETHEUS? HUH? HUH? Exactly.
Edit: Seriously though, Idris Elba has pretty much all my favorite quotes from the film.
"Do you wanna die on the wall! OR IN A JAEGER?!"
"Today, we're halting the apocalypse!"
"One: never touch me. Two: never touch me."
"YOU - SHUT UP. And you - keep going."
Etc, etc. Simple lines, the man makes them gold.

I... I don't get it. Prometheus was a good movie, there was nothing inherently wrong with it and his role was fantastic.
