"YOU'RE DOING GREAT, CHELL. IF YOU CONTINUE DOING THIS WELL YOU WILL BE GIVEN ACCESS TO THE CAKE STORAGE ROOM WHERE YOU WILL BE ALLOWED TO EAT CAKE." said GLaDOS, the murderous and psychotic artificial intelligence that controls the Aperture Science Testing Facility to a silent test subject that went by the name of Chell, who wore a full body orange jumpsuit and carried a white gun like object with three claws attached to the end of it.
Aperture Fixtures was founded by a man named Cave Johnson, who originally created his company as a means of selling shower curtains that utilise portal technology. However, Johnson realised that his company could carry out groundbreaking scientific research with the technology he had access to. And so, Aperture Science was born.
One of the most practical inventions created was the Handheld Portal Device, which could create portals on flat white surfaces that were (more of less) safe for humans to travel through. The only risk of going through a portal was that you could get trace amounts of fractal positronic antimatter on you... Which isn't good. The Handheld Portal Device was the aforementioned gun-like object that Chell carries around everywhere.
The Aperture Science Facility was a huge labyrinth built deep underground. In its heyday, Aperture Science would test their products on hapless hobos that they found on the streets on a regular basis.
While Johnson made several mistakes when marketing his company's products, his greatest mistake was when he ordered his scientists to construct an artificial intelligence that used his assistant Caroline as a base. He believed that she alone should continue running the facility after he died, and had his scientists force her to upload her brain into a Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System, or GLaDOS for short. Almost instantly after being switched on, GLaDOS tried to kill everyone in the facility, and eventually managed to by flooding the place with deadly neurotoxin on Take-Your-Daughter-To-Work Day, of all days. GLaDOS continued to run the facility long after Johnson, and most of Aperture's employees, died.
Only two known people survived the deadly neurotoxin; a scientist named Doug Rattmann, and a test subject (who may or may not have been the daughter of an Aperture Science employee) named Chell, the latter of whom completed many of GLaDOS's dangerous tests. There are also rumours of a third test subject with no known name with similar characteristics to Chell running around the facility who wields a paint gun that fires repulsion and propulsion gel, but that is unconfirmed.
Chell travelled through the facility by way of an elevator at the end of every test chamber that she completed. The only way to complete a test chamber is to find a way to unlock the the exit door so that you can go to the next one. As GLaDOS transported her to the test chamber, there was an unexpected crashing sound that shook the lift a little.
"DO NOT PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THE THING THAT WAS NOT A LOUD NOISE." said GLaDOS in her usual robotic and monotone voice.
Chell didn't really pay much attention to GLaDOS, and never spoke a word in the AI's presence as a way to spite her. Chell would never give any of the robots in the facility the satisfaction of hearing her voice. Ever.
Chell casually strolled with the Portal Device in hand into the next chamber, which was very large. She looked around. Almost the whole room was covered in portal conducting panels, and there was also a deadly pool filled with deadly pool stuff in the centre of the room that could not be crossed by conventional means. There was a door on the opposite side of the room. There was also a Discouragement Redirection Cube next to her, a giant box that can redirect lasers. A laser, or Thermal Discouragement Beam, was being continually shot out of one of the walls next to her. On the other side was a relay that would activate when a laser touches it and open the door.
Chell figured that she would be able to pass the chamber by getting over the furnace with the Portal Device, and then using the Redirection Cube to redirect the laser into the relay to open the door. Seemed simple.
But before Chell could do anything, there was another loud banging noise that actually made the ground beneath her shake. Suddenly, a portion of one of the walls broke open, revealing a horde of tiny black robots that were streaming through the hole in the wall. A man dressed in all black and a long coat entered through the hole while seemingly riding atop a tower of little black robots. The man wore what looked like a white kabuki mask, and he turned to look at Chell.
"PAY NO ATTENTION TO THAT MAN. HE IS NOT A PART OF THIS TESTS. JUST IGNORE HIM AND HE WILL LEAVE."
The man in the kabuki mask raised his arm, and then a pillar of mini robots shot straight towards Chell. Chell rolled out of the way to avoid it, and the robots ended up hitting a wall instead. The man in the kabuki mask then did the same again, but this time Chell anticipated the attack and fired a portal onto a white panel that the robots were just about the strike. She then fired another portal behind the kabuki man on the opposite side of the test chamber.
When the microbots tried to hit Chell, they all streamed through the portal by accident and ended up hitting the man in the kabuki mask, Yokai, in the back. The fight was on! Can Chell use portal logic to defeat Callaghan AKA Yokai?

The outcome...
Chell placed a blue portal over the acid pit and then another on the wall behind her. Yokai threw another tonne of microbots at Chell, and yet again, the microbots just went through the portal as Chell evaded the attack. The microbots kept their momentum while going through the portal and ended up disintegrating into the deadly pools.
Yokai didn't let this bother him. Yokai sneakily sent a small pool of microbots to slither along the floor like water itself. Chell noticed this, so she ran over to the Redirection Cube and used her portal gun to pick it up like it was nothing. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that the portal gun can pick up things telekinetically like the Gravity Gun from Half-Life? Well... It can. Just roll with it.
She used the cube to redirect the discouragement beam towards the microbots, which blew them up one by one. Chell burned them like a child would burn ants with a magnifying glass. The fire spread in what looked like a chain reaction, causing several microbots to burn. Yokai quickly separated the burning microbots from the majority of microbots so that not all of them would be destroyed.
Yokai grew visibly angry even though his face was concealed and he never spoke a word, and one could tell from his body language that he wanted to end the fight as quickly as possible.
From that point onward Yokai did not move, making his attacks impossible to preempt. A vine of microbots grabbed the Redirection Cube and then threw it into the pit, disintegrating it. Then, a huge swarm of microbots rose into the air and all headed straight towards Chell at once. The attack was impossible to evade. Chell ended up getting smacked against one of the walls. The massive blockade of microbots then separated into four smaller swarms of microbots that grabbed hold of Chell's limbs, immobilising her. The microbots held Chell in place as Yokai headed towards her while still standing on a tower of moving microbots.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE, ANYWAY? WHAT COULD YOU HOPE TO ACHIEVE BY KILLING MY ONLY LIVING TEST SUBJECT, MASKED MAN?" asked GLaDOS.
Yokai didn't seem to pay any attention to the voice. He continued to move towards an immobile Chell, and once she was within reach, his armed rushed forwards with alarming speed and his hand grabbed her head. He then lifted her up with one arm. Yokai dragged her over the the deadly pool and held her over it.
"YOU ARE PROFESSOR ROBERT CALLAGHAN. YOUR DAUGHTER, ABIGAIL CALLAGHAN, WAS SENT THROUGH A TELEPORTATION DEVICE AND PRESUMABLY KILLED. YOU BLAME APERTURE FOR BEING INVOLVED IN THE EXPERIMENT. WE WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR DAUGHTER'S DEATH. KREI TECH WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT. FIGHT THEM INSTEAD." implored GLaDOS. There was a hint of genuine pity for Callaghan's situation in the AI's otherwise completely monotonous voice.
Callaghan moved his mask up his head slightly so that his face was entirely visible. Chell looked visibly terrified. Her then whispered "Liars." right in the test subject's ear, before letting go of her head. Callaghan didn't even look over into the pit to see if she was dead. The light sizzling noise already told him that.
"DO YOU THINK I AM SCARED OF YOUR TINY LITTLE ROBOTS, CALLAGHAN? THIS ENTIRE FACILITY IS RIGGED WITH DELIVERY TUBES FOR DEADLY NEUROTOXIN. A DISRUPTION OF A TEST ON THIS SCALE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED."
