TUCHANKA
21:00 HOURS

TUCHANKA
21:00 HOURS
The Normandy landed on the once-barren Krogan homeworld as the sun set. On a normal day they would have taken at least a moment to admire the beauty, but this was not a day for sightseeing. They had come to find and destroy the second fragment of the Marker that destroyed Nos Astra two days prior and save the Krogans from another genocide.
Urdnot Wrex was in no mood for chatter either. The the approximate location of the Marker was 3 kilometers away from the Krogan capital, where Wrex's family resided. "So, Clarke. You comfortable in that thing?" Isaac was dressed in his old engineering suit. It had been retrofitted and reinforced with personal shields and stronger material supplied by the Normandy's crew. "Yeah, it was always a bit tight but after a while you get used to it. But what about you, Walking around with bony plates on your skin all the time?" Wrex chuckled and thumped his chest. "Growing up on a planet as harsh as Tuchanka? You had to be tough in every sense, or you'd probably just end up as food."
Isaac pointed out at the world around them. "How bad was it?" Wrex leaned back, reminiscing about the days before the Reaper War and reconstruction. "Oh, hurricane force winds. Massive deserts. Thresher Maws all over the place." Amused by Isaac's confused expression he added, "Think a giant bony worm with big antennae." The shuttle jolted and they heard Joker's voice over the intercom. "Okay, you've reached the Marker's coordinates. Be careful, we don't know what you're gonna find down there." Isaac rolled his eyes. "Yeah, right. We know exactly what. Right, Shepard?" At the other end of the shuttle Shepard sat silently. Her demeanor had been icy ever since they reached Tuchanka, and Wrex felt sorry for any Necromorph that came across her.
The shuttle doors opened and the Wrex walked out with Isaac, Shepard, and six marines in tow. Shepard touched her earpiece. "Joker, fly to the nearest Krogan base and have them send as many solders as possible." The Normandy flew towards the capital in the East. The group then met up with two dozen soldiers and proceeded into an ancient temple. "This Krogan warlord, Wrex. They said the name was Gatatog Kronos." Wrex snorted in derision as they ascended the temple's steps. "Gatatog? Wasn't that the clan of that one krogan who tried you kill you and Grunt a while back?" Shepard shrugged. "Yeah, he was the clan leader. I guess they still haven't forgotten."
*****
In a chamber deep inside the temple, Clan Gatatog stood around the Marker in awe. A thousand warriors and their families. Kronos had known from the moment he set his eyes on it that his clan had been chosen as the new leaders of the Krogan race. The power emanating from the Marker was filling him even now, and the young female he had sacrificed served a purpose greater than she could ever imagine. Her body had lain still on the altar for nearly half an hour, but now she was beginning to stir. "Show us your wisdom. Give us the power to overthrow Clan Urdnot and avenge my father.
Make us whole!"
