Unicron Saga
Previously: Unicron raveges through the Milky Way galaxy stirring panic everywhere. Commander Shepard comes across an alien
distress call. He and the crew of the Normandy out fight The FireFly crew only to have the aliens attack them.
The battle wasn’t going well, but Commander Shepard and his crew held their own.
It wasn’t exactly a stalemate, but now things were level and in order to win, one side or the other would have to come up with a new
strategy.
Through their internal communications, the Shi’ar heard the cry to stop.
The Darkhawks obeyed and Deathbird snarled.
“What are you whining about, Lilandra? We were going to finish them!”
“This misunderstanding has gone on long enough!”
The words came through the communicators but they also were heard in the open air. Lilandra came out of the ship. She had two
guards with her but they had their weapons pointed upward non-threateningly.
One Darkhawk also flew to her protection.
From Shepard’s point of view, this second alien female looked less fierce than the first one. She was obviously injured as well.
“I am Lilandra Neramani, princess of the Shi’ar Empire.”
Understanding her caused the Normandy crew to cease hostilities.
First contacts was not a favorite of Shepard’s but he had gone through the course. He contacted the Normandy and had the
communications officer request that Starfleet send a proper representative to negotiate with these ‘Shi’ar’.
But there was still the here and now. These beings had attacked him and his crew and now were seeking to talk. Shepard would have
to secure this ceasefire.
He showed himself and made sure that the aliens saw his weapon. The ones who had done the fighting looked eager to continue,
especially the fierce-looking female. But they all stayed their hands.
Once he was appropriately close enough to the peacemaking female he opened the dialogue.
“My name is Commander Shepard.”
“Greetings commander. As I said, I am Princess Lilandra. We are Shi’ar. An empire in another galaxy.”
Shepard decided to be up front. “Your people attacked us unprovoked.”
“I apologize, Commander.” Lilandra said stiffly. “My sister acted rashly but you must understand that we are on a mission of sever
importance.”
“May I ask what your mission is?”
Lilandra pointed at River Tam. “The girl there seems to know.”
Everyone looked at River who had conveniently calmed down. Even more, she had gone timid and wouldn’t look at anyone.
“As you can see, these people are under arrest.” Shepard gestured to the Serenity crew as a whole. Frankly, I believe they came
here to take advantage of your tragedy.”
“You see?” Deathbird growled. “They came for the crystal!”
“What crystal?” Shepard wondered at her.
Lilandra lasered a sharp look at her sister. Quickly, she went over her options in her head. They were all that was left of their battle
fleet. They were now stranded on this planet. They were a long long long ways from home or any support from the empire. If these
people betrayed her, then their mission would be no more lost than it was right now. The best chance they had now was to ask for
help.
“It is the final hope of our mission. Our empire suffered a crushing attack by a sort of monster planet. It ravaged the galaxy, seeming
to consume whole worlds. No opposition stood a change against it. Our brother, the Emperor, ordered one of the most powerful battle
groups our fleets could assemble and charged myself and my sister to find this monster planet and destroy it. We tracked our target
here to the Milky Way galaxy but then our battle group was attacked by an unknown enemy. We few escaped and crashed here.”
“But most importantly, the Emperor also authorized us to take an item so powerful that it has never been used as a sure way to
accomplish our mission. Aboard that very ship lays the M’Kran Crystal.”
Commander Shepard breathed heavily and nodded.
“This monster planet sounds very familiar. There are reports of something like that destroying planets all over the place here. I think
we can help each other.”

Brainiac had been intercepting transmissions about a mysterious monster planet that had been ravaging the Milky Way galaxy.
The Federation talked about it. As did the Citadel. The Vorlons. And everyone else in the galaxy.
Oddly, no one knew exactly what it was.
Brainiac was intrigued. Compiling all of the information, he had surmised that the monster planet had minions. Mighty beings sometimes
heralded the monster planet’s arrival. They sometimes softened up resistance or wiped out all opposition completely. Occasionally, the
beings worked together in one location but most reported them acting individually for the good of their master.
Logically, capturing one for interrogation would provide the purest information. So that is what Brainiac set out to do.
Finding one was difficult. The monster planet didn’t follow any pattern. It would ravage one planet on the edge of galaxy and then
minutes later a report of it attacking a moon closer to the center. Then It would gobbled another planet right back in the previous
solar system. After that, it would not be heard from for a month anywhere. And then neighboring solar systems would be attacked
back to back.
His quest was infuriating, but at last Brainiac’s resolve was rewarded. A distress call for help came from a nearby solar system. They
were one of the informed civilizations, a part of the Romulan Star Empire. They said that they were mounting a defensive strike and
the Romulans themselves were sending ships. Brainiac knew that none of it would do any good. Plus he would get there sooner than
any Romulan ship could hope to.
Even with the space fold technology of his ship, Braininac reached the victim planet only in time to witness the last few seconds of
the monster planet’s assault.
It was bigger than even the most exuberant reports indicated. Only a little smaller than the ring world Saturn. Monster planet was an
appropriate name for the world as it sported a sickly ring that reminded him of the Forerunner’s HALO supported by spokes sprouting
from the planet. There were two horns that jetted out of one end of the world. In-between those horns seemed to be a mouth. The
horns actually drew the dwarfen moon into the mouth like mandibles. It seemed to be eating the moon.
His cosmic awareness barely noticed Brainiac, they way a hiker would subconsciously notice a leaf falling from a distant tree. But for
Unicron he actually knew. He knew who Brainiac was. He knew what Brainiac was doing.
Insignificant as he was, the possible futures showed that Brainiac’s observation could lead to Unicron’s demise. Better to extinguish
him. But why trouble himself with such a menial task. That is what servants were for.
A simple two word command went to his minions.
“Destroy him.”
The monster planet almost immediately disappeared in sophisticated hyperspace fold once it was finished with the moon. But the
minions were left behind.
One was a gigantic monster that cocooned itself in a crystalline shell just like the ones that grew from its back. The other was a
humanoid that his scanners indicated was made of light. They both approached Brainiac’s ship and the Brainiac braced for combat.
Fight Parameters:
Space Godzilla and Starhawk are out to destroy Brainiac completely.
Brainiac would like to capture one of them, but he will kill them if he has to (and if he can).
Brainiac is in his ship amid the ‘crumbs’ of the planet that Unicron just destroyed.
