Battle Nexus series
Previously: The Jade Warlord hired Ratar-O and Zeltrax to kidnap the Damiyo’s son (The Ultimate Ninja). Upon bringing the prince,
The Ultimate Ninja made an alliance with The Jade Warlord- The immortal would be given the warstaff with tamed the magic of the
Battle Nexus and the prince would gain control of the Battle Nexus itself.
The Damiyo sent Spiral, Merrik and Miyamoto Usagi to retrieve his son.
The Ultimate Ninja’s cooperation was going to make the rest of his plan a lot easier. The Jade Warlord now had access to the Damiyo
like he never thought. The prince could simply walk into the Damiyo’s room and take what he wanted. No one would even blink an eye
at him.
Still, they needed to tie up loose ends. The mercenaries, Ratar-O and Zeltrax, the immortal had hoped would be captured or killed but
they remained alive and in a position to thwart his scheme in more ways than one.
Ratar-O seemed ambitious and intelligent enough to attempt to take the coveted warstaff for himself. They could point out the Jade
Warlord’s treachery. The only way to ensure their silence was to kill them. Since the Damiyo’s champions were too weak to succeed,
the immortal would have to see to it with his resources.
It was time for a conference with his allies. He had been given an item that would allow him to communicate with those he worked
with. It was powered by his magic and he had been told that it could not be traced or intercepted.
The others frowned upon the warlord initiating contact because he always seemed to interrupt their activities. The others treated him
like a junior ally. He had only gained membership into the Alliance of Evil because of his promise to acquire the Warstaff.
An illusion appeared above the communication device. The masked face of Lord Zedd stared out at him and the Warlord instinctively
straightened, displaying his best, most confident posture.
Zedd was a conqueror of worlds and realms that the immortal had never heard of. The self-proclaimed ‘lord of evil’ was credited with
initiating the alliance and his power was reputed to be incredible.
“I hope you are calling with a report of success.” Zedd growled. He explained before The Jade Warlord could respond. “Krang and his
work have been compromised.”
“He’s been captured?” the immortal guessed.
“I believe so, yes.” Said Zedd. “The transmats that he provided will be unreliable. Enemies will be able to track their activities. I hope
that you are bringing the Warstaff as an alternative mode of transportation.”
“I will have it shortly,” The Jade Warlord tried not to let his voice stammer. “Actually acquiring the Warstaff will be easier now
because of a new development, but there are loose ends to tie up.”
Suddenly a second face appeared beside Zedd’s. Emperor Shao Khan was the first person whom Zedd had approached about working
together.
Frustrated at the restriction handed down to him by the elder gods, Shao Khan was looking for a way to bypass Mortal Kombat and
move freely throughout the realms for conquest.
“You call with requests but never with any success.” Shao Khan chided the immortal.
“As I said,” the Jade Warlord said apologetically, “The Warstaff will be ours soon. It is these loose ends that bother me. I’ve hired
mercenaries but they live on and now they can be a threat.”
“Pay them if they have served you well. We have plenty of enemies to unleash them on.” Said Shao Khan. His advice continued. “Kill
them if they are of no further use to you.”
“That is the thing.” Said the Jade Warlord. “They are particularly powerful and I would have to send trusted warriors against them. If
they survive and realize that I have turned on them...”
“Then use my warriors.” Shao Khan volunteered. “They will be sent to you promptly.”
Apparently satisfied with Shao Khan’s solution, both the Emperor and the Lord of Evil ended their connections and left an insulted
immortal simmering.
Still, he could smile a bit. He had plans of his own. Plans that would earn their respect, and perhaps even draw their reverence.
For now though, the business at hand.
The prince Damiyo met him in a large gathering hall. They were the only two, but this is where the Jade Warlord liked to plan his
activities.
“The Damiyo is no fool.” Jade Warlord began. “If you return with no story of your escape and then go take the Warstaff he will
suspect treachery.”
“My father is blind to my ambitions.” The Ultimate Ninja sneered. “All he sees, in everyone, is pathetic honor. It’s a wonder he hasn’t
been stripped of his title long ago. I know what to do. Just leave me to it.”

Shao Khan’s warriors arrived soon, as promised. There were three of them. Motaro, Reptile and Chameleon.
Jade Warlord hoped that they would be enough. Powerful as Shao Khan was, his warriors did loose to Earthrealm.
The warriors were all business and embarked on their mission as soon as the Jade Warlord showed them an image of their targets.
He was tempted to go with them- access their abilities should they ever be sent against him.
But no, he had other things to accomplish.

Being a rat meant that Rator-O didn’t like the term ‘I smell a rat’. But this situation brought that very thought to his head.
The Damiyo’s warriors had found them too easily. It was fortunate the he and Zeltrax were too powerful for them but The Jade
Warlord had not set up any post mission security for them.
If fact, after delivering the young Damiyo to the immortal, and the unexpected alliance that the two quickly formed, The Jade Warlord
didn’t seem to have any use for his hired help.
Ratar-O didn’t know Zeltrax very well. They had only met once before the job came up. Hopefully, the cyborg would understand the
situation and realize that each other was all that they had.
After explaining the situation, Zeltrax nodded his understanding.
“So you think we should kill the Jade Warlord?”
“No,” Ratar-O said thoughtfully. “I’ve witnessed him counseling with others who seem to be superior to his position. I think we should
make our abilities visible to those individuals.”
“How?”
Ratar-O’s gaze shifted to the left as if spotting something in his peripheral vision. “I think we are about to dive a demonstration.”
He drew his twin daggers which inspired Zeltrax to pull out his sword.
The attack, Ratar-O was certain, would be quick, powerful and deadly.
