"Do you think you can hide from me you scoundrel? I know your every move, your every thought. There is no escape" The man who spoke crept along the flooring in darkness, his heart kicked at his chest with each movement.
Suddenly, his back was assaulted with a flurry of punches. The man tried his best to fight back but his attacker was too swift and agile. Right before the final blow was struck light exploded into the room followed by an amused chuckle.
"Are you two done? Dinners ready.
In the middle of the now lit room was a tall black haired man lying on his stomach as a small boy with curly black hair attacked him "Coming mom." replied the little boy as he ran towards the kitchen.
"Wash your hands first J.R!" beckoned the defeated man as he stood up and walked over to the amber haired woman who stood next to the light-switch "You look tired Mrs.Tate."
"That's because I've been doing errands all day. On my vacation no less." she pecked his cheek "How was your day Joel?"
"Boring. Paper work and meetings. Mr.Endberg is running me ragged. It's almost audit season." he smiled and looked into his wife's eyes "But he promised me the week off next week for J.R's birthday."
"He does have a heart after all!" exclaimed Mrs.Tate in artificial surprise "So; Disney world Japan?"
"I've bought the tickets." replied Joel with a smile. The sound of small foot steps interrupt the conversation as J.R pulls his parents into the kitchen.
"Come, on! I'm hungry."
"So, J.R; what do you want for your birthday?"
The young boy sipped on his juice and shot out a jubilant response "Well dad.....I want to go fishing."
Joel almost chocked on his food when he heard the answer. He gazed into his sons eyes with confusion. The confusion lingered in the air until he managed to make out a question "Why fishing son?" he turned to his wife who looked just as confused as he was.
"Well dad.....I was watching this old show; and the star of the show took his son out fishing once a month. I though that would be cool to do that with you." J.R continued eating his spaghetti which had started to coat his mouth with tomato sauce.
"Well! That settles it then. You two are going fishing."
Joel's head snapped in his wife's direction instantly "But Sharon."
"No buts. You are taking your son fishing."
Before Joel could reply the shrill ring of the door bell sliced through the air.
