Master of Evil series
Previously: The League of Native American Superheroes stumbled upon the Masters of Evil headquarters. Nuff said.
The Masters of Evil didn’t all charge into battle but most of them did.
Vicious set his sights on T. Hawk being that he was one of the larger targets. In his mind, there was no doubt that Vicious could kill
this brute. The other man had no weapon after all.
While Turrok went with the distance attack- shooting an arrow, Red Wolf came at Baron Zemo with his fists.
Zemo swatted the arrow out of the air but wasn’t fast enough to keep from being tackled by the other warrior. He couldn’t get his
sword angled to stab but he was able to roll with the tackle despite the power behind it and flip Red Wolf over. Momentum was
momentum after all.
Squaring off with Bryan Fury, Night Wolf allowed himself to focus in on his adversary as flames exploded near him. He knew that the
fire wasn’t meant for him.
Zuko had put up a flame wall to help break the other group up. Chief Thunder and Manitou Raven were separated from Puma and
Apache Chief even as they were working out their strategy.
Doomguy had a gun handy and started taking shots at Puma. Fortunately, the were-man was faster than normal and was able to
avoid the man’s fire.
While Puma was methodically closing the distance between him and Doomguy, Frost created an ice sword and went after Chief
Thunder. He was ready for her and engaged the woman. His power was above what she anticipated. She pulled back, only to now be
attacked by Apache Chief. He had grown to a little over eight feet tall.
Sadly, he was slow and Frost stabbed him in the leg. It wasn’t a debilitating wound but it hurt and opened him up for a deadlier blow.
Backing Zuko, Rain unleashed a bit of her power, creating a circle of stalactites around her. This kept Red Wolf away. She kept an
eye on her lover Baron Zemo as he dueled with Turrok. They seemed to be on equal footing for now so she settled for taking out
another foe.
There was a man sprinting across the floor. He was faster than any normal man but he was an easy target for Rain. She sent a sheet
of ice out for him to slip on, but the man jumped, probably unintentionally, over her ice slip and tackled Cinderblock.
Cinderblock was stronger, but not so much so that Thunderbird couldn’t wrestle with him. Still, he wasn’t able to vanquish the
golem-like creature and was thrown off.
Honor and determination turned out to be not enough as T. Hawk was impaled through the heart by Vicious’ sword. First blood to the
Masters of Evil.
This victory energized the others.
Unable to get a bead on his target, Doomguy suffered the ferocious attack of Puma. Tough as he was, the marine was fatally
wounded within seconds.
Having defeated his first foe, Vicious moved on to Thunderbird who was freshly thrown aside by Cinderblock. The golem and the
swordsman were charging him from different directions. Thunderbird wasn’t sure how to handle this but Monitou Raven intervened
using his magic to grow to a size big enough to tackle Cinderblock.
That left Thunderbird able to focus on Vicious. The killer was very good with his sword, but Thunderbird was so much faster and
stronger that Vicious was overpowered. A few cuts didn’t bother Thunderbird.
Monitou Raven realized that he needed to grow bigger in order to overpower Cinderblock. But there really wasn’t much more room.
The deadlier blow that Frost intended to deliver to Apache Chief was out of the question as Puma surprised her with an attack from
behind. He was going for her throat but she ducked down as soon as she felt him upon her and dug into her shoulder instead. That
was enough to lessen her threat but she wasn’t out of the fight.
The duel between Baron Zemo and Turrok was coming to an end. Although they seemed to be comparable at first, within a few
strokes, it was clear that Baron Zemo was superior by a good margin. Turrok was fierce but his tomahawk wasn’t as sophisticated a
dueling weapon as Zemo’s fencing sword and his fighting technique was repetitive and soon predictable.
Red Wolf saw what was coming and joined Turrok for a double team upon Zemo.
Although the Baron lost ground, it wasn’t certain that he would be defeated.
Prince Zuko, so far, had managed to keep everyone away from his person, but now he wanted to get on the offensive. Some sort of
firebird flew at him and Zuko successfully fire bent it off his path. Judging from the vector, the firebird came from Chief Thunder.
The big man was stalking toward him a tomahawk in each hand. Zuko snarled and ignited a flame dagger in his hand. The smaller more
nimble Zuko was able to fight Thunder but he was not going to beat him. Not this way.
As strong a Bryan Fury was, he couldn’t stand up to the variety of attacks that Nightwolf imposed upon him. The cyborg disposed of,
Nightwolf locked onto Rain.
She was already on a mission to remove the two men that were attacking her lover.
Neither Turrok nor Red Wolf were able to handle the ice power which she generated. Frozen stalagmites shot up from the ground and
impaled both men in the middle of their assault on Zemo. Even as she began asking if Zemo was unharmed, Nightwolf reached them.
Rain put up an ice shield to block his advance and give Zemo some breathing room.
“The battle isn’t going well.” Rain confessed. “I don’t think our team is going to be able to kill these people.”
“I will not be denied.” Zemo seethed.
“What do we do?” Rain asked him.
“Collect those that are still useful. Leave the dead and kill those that are too wounded bring with us. We cannot allow them to be
interrogated.”
With cold understanding, the woman known as Rain, executed his orders. She assisted Vicious first. Thunderbird had him vanquished
but the fool wasn’t finishing him off. Standing over the killer, the Apache breathed heavily. It seemed like he was deciding if he
needed to pound the man some more.
Rain came up behind him with her sickle and slashed his back hard. Thunderbird’s skin was tougher than normal but he was still
wounded by the strike.
Vicious, seeing an opening, reached for his sword and stabbed Thunderbird through the heart. He had to put all his strength into it
and it was only because he kept his blade extra sharp that it penetrated. Tensing, Thunderbird pulled away, the sword still stuck in
his chest.
“Come on!” Rain said to Vicious who was about to retrieve his weapon. “We’re regrouping.”
They watched Cinderblock struggling with Monitou Raven. The Native American had grown to a size larger than his opponent, but
Cinderblock was still stronger. If there had been enough space, Monitou could have grown to a size suitable to overpower the golem
but he already had to duck down a bit to keep from hitting his head on the ceiling.
Because of this, his maneuverability was hampered. Cinderblock took advantage of it and socked his opponent right in the face.
Before he could press the advantage, Rain called out to Cinderblock to come along.
The last one to gather was Frost. She was being quite annoying to Apachie Chief. Her ice attacks weren’t fatal to him yet but he
knew that if he didn’t keep assaulting her, she would be able to muster up something that would hurt him.
A mighty fist finally collided with her body but it was slowed by an ice wall therefore it wasn’t enough force to knock her out.
She was still stunned. Puma and Nightwolf ran in to cover her.
A new decision came from Rain. Zemo had said to leave the dead and to kill those who were no longer useful. Frost was going to be
captured. Rain never did like the Lin Kuei renegade. She could not be trusted. So she sent out an icicle at high speed that impaled the
ninja in the back of the head.
The League of Native Americans stared with disappointment as Frost expired.
The Masters of Evil regrouped, Baron Zemo, Rain, Vicious, Cinderblock and Zuko.
The League of Native Americans hadn’t quite gathered themselves for the chance in tactics, but they were already spread out
enough to keep the bad guys from escaping.
Then Zemo surprised everyone- friend and foe- by pulling out a small object from his belt pouch and raising it over his head. The
surviving Masters of Evil disappeared, teleported away.
*
Nightwolf and Manitou Raven were unable to track their escape by mystical means, so they called for the authorities to clean up the
mess, knowing that The Avengers would be interested in hearing about Baron Zemo forming a new team.
Because it was an international incident, The United Nations super hero team- Stormwatch came to investigate.
The Super Hero Registration Act was actually a symbol of America’s falling behind on the world stage. Many countries had been
drafting their meta humans for decades. Even the United Nations got in on the act, forming Stormwatch- a group of international
super heroes that operated under UN authority.
No one would ever admit it, but it was quite understood that Stormwatch and teams like it were ‘just in case’ answers to the Justice
League and Avengers. Both those prominent and well honored super hero teams had too close of ties to America for the international
community’s taste.
Team leader Battalion questioned, Apache Chief who acted as spokesman for the League of Native American Superheroes. The search
for the remaining Masters of Evil was intense but fruitless.
*****
The superhero community was so large that they, many times, overlapped in emergency responses. Team-ups were commonplace and
inter-team friendships formed and strengthened over the years.
Even before America’s Superhuman Registration Act, many of the super teams began sharing information, such as villain dossiers and
incident reports. After costumed adventurers were reigned in by the government, the practice became standardized.
As a dark answer to this, villains and ‘enemy’ organizations produced their own network. Naturally, everyone was in the business for
themselves so no one could trust anyone else, but a network was set up so that low tier muscle could post their services and
megalomaniacs could post jobs and hire workers.
The Secret Society became a brand that Super Hero groups and law and peacekeeping organizations monitored constantly. But they
could never uncover who funded and managed the society. There were natural candidates of course, but nothing could be proven
legally.
Baron Zemo was a member of this Secret Society.
As a higher level initiate, ie, someone who financially supported the network, Zemo was privileged with added perks. He had access to
secret hideouts and technology.
The teleporter was preset to transport his person to a hideout in case of emergency extraction. Evidently, it could carry several
people in its field.
As the Masters of Evil went about receiving medical treatment from a robotic doctor furnished in all of the secret hideouts, Baron
Zemo found some privacy so that he could consider his next move.
They had suffered sever losses but nothing a recruitment drive couldn’t fix. The survivors, after all, were the most useful. His
embarrassing near defeat by Creed Diskenth was compounded by their discovery by the Native American super heroes. No doubt the
others were questioning his leadership.
They needed a victory. Or at least some kind of rewarding undertaking to keep them on his side.
Via the communication satellites that the Secret Society had put in orbit, Zemo was pleased to see a call coming in from Gauran.
He had taken Obadiah Stane to retrieve the Iron Monger armor from The Penguin. Gauron had promised another asset that he
guaranteed would be beneficial. This was obviously a status report, and also a sign of loyalty. Garuon could go places under Zemo’s
guidance.
“We’ve got some competition out there.” Was the first thing Garuon said when Baron Zemo answered.
“What do you mean?” asked Zemo fully curious.
“Some guy, named Khan. He came looking to get the Iron Monger armor. The Punisher showed up too but Khan’s boy took him on
while we pulled out. Stane was hit and didn’t make it though. And the Punisher threw a grenade inside the Iron Monger armor to keep
us from taking it.”
“You are reporting a long stream of failures and disappointments…” Zemo’s voice simmered with frustration.
“I can make up for it. I did get two assets that I’ll be bringing back to base. And there’s one other thing that I think will be a game
changer for us.”
“The base has been compromised.” Zemo informed him. “I will send someone to meet you and bring you to us.”
Reunited, Gauron introduced his wards.
“This is Xai Yu Fan and Xai Yu Lan. I’ve trained these girls since they could walk. They’re totally loyal to me.”
The Baron examined each girl individually.
“I loose, half of my forces and you try to replace them with young girls?”
“They’ll surprise you.” Gauron said with a certainty that stifled Zemo’s misgivings. “Plus, there’s one other asset that I can get that
will be a game changer for us.”

Arm Slaves were lower class mecha. They didn’t measure up to the Robotech machines or its largest competitor, the Gundams. They
were expensive in the way of training and upkeep. Excessive and impractical in most engagements, they were cumbersome,
tantalizing targets. And the collateral damage they caused was staggering. Yet in the right campaigns, Arm Slaves or AS, for short,
were dominating.
To pilot one of these mecha, special kind of people were required and they had to have special kinds of training. Gauron was one of
the few people in the world not loyal to any government who could pilot an AS. Furthermore he was certified on the most elite of Arm
Slaves models- the Venom.
This Arm Slave was equipped with a Lambda Driver, a super science that even Tony Stark couldn’t duplicate. In his defense, Stark
Tech had never gotten into the mech business, so they never tried.
The Lambda Driver, officially titled ‘false axis repulsive field generator system’ exerted mechanical force against space with no
observable physical interaction. A less mind-stretching explanation is that the Lambda Driver could manifest emotional thought
patterns into raw and devastating physical power. Something like psychokinetic bursts.
The effects usually exhibited as force fields and crushing fields capable of destroying an Arm Slave.
Gauron had been part of a terrorist organization called Amalagam. The group was taken down by the international peacekeeping army
Mithril. The Venom AS that Gauron had piloted had been destroyed and the man himself was captured.
Mithril wasn’t in the business of holding prisoners so they transferred him to the American’s.
They jailed Gauron in a supervillain level prison because of his ability to pilot arm slaves and that is why he was present in the
breakout and joined up with Baron Zemo.
The Venom AS that Gauron piloted wasn’t the only one. Amalagam had made a few others but the group was defeated and their
equipment was confiscated.
When Gauron escaped, the United States decided to set a trap for him. They leaked the location of the Venom-class arm slaves
knowing that he would come for them.
Being an American operation, they had their resident super hero team Youngblood lying in wait.
Fight Parameters:
-There are five Venom Arm Slaves stored plus other equipment with regular security outside of Youngblood.
-The Masters of Evil are expecting security but not Youngblood.
-Youngblood is expecting Gauron to have some help, but not the Masters of Evil.
-The Masters of Evil for this mission include: Cinderblock, Vicious, Gauron, Xai Yu Lan, Xai Yu Fan.
-The Youngblood roaster includes: Shaft, Die Hard, Vogue, Badrock and Chapel.
-The Masters of Evil’s objective is to get Gauron and hopefully Xai Yu Lan and Xai Yu Fan into the arm slaves. The Venom arm slaves
have some reserve power but they are unarmed and will have to make a quick getaway if they can be activated.
-Vote for the Masters of Evil if they are able to get at least on Arm Slave and escape.
-Vote for Youngblood if they capture the Masters of Evil.
