Shang Tsung (Mortal Kombat) & Taskmaster (Marvel)
vs.
Zuko (The Last Airbender) & Static (Milestone/DC)
Location: villain's lair (self-destruct in ten minutes)
Tournament rules
The teams simply appear in their environments at 100% health and strength. They have no prep time before the battle. They know instinctively that they are to fight together against the team in front of them. The partners do know each other because the 1 on 1 rounds happened so they’ve been on the receiving end of each others’ attacks. All characters are in their regular mindset but are properly motivated to win within their moral boundaries. To win: -submission/incapacitation (unable to continue fighting for a ten second count) -knock out (again, ten second count) -out of ring (if on a rooftop, cliff or something) flight negates this avenue of victory -death

Shang Tsung has probably killed a bunch of fighters like Zuko for the hundreds or thousands of years he has been alive. Keep in mind Shang has so many abilities and fighting styles he can use from the souls he has taken. Shang beats Zuko and Taskmaster can handle Static. As awesome as Static is he is not ready for someone on Taskmaster's level of experience and fighting skilles. If Taskmaster has any problem Shang can help him put down Static. Static will be hard to take down and it will be a long fight though. Same with Zuko. Team One wins

Perhaps a more experienced Static/Zuko team could pull something off. Zuko by Legend of Korra time will be too old and won't have his vitality. Maybe at the time when Korra was a baby.
Static from that dark Justice League future in that one two-parter might have the experience.

Yup very good point. A experienced Static from later on in his career would win.
