Unicron Saga
Previously: The Serenity crew came upon a downed alien ship. Soon after their arrival at the crash site, the Normandy showed up
and a battle ensued.
The crew and passengers of the Serenity were all lined up, on their knees with some of the marines that served on the Normandy
working as guards covering them.
For all their effort in putting up a fight, Mel Reynolds and his crew were no match for their assumed competition. These guys weren’t
Federation authorities and they didn’t fight or act like pirates.
Mel whispered to Inara. “Why don’t you work some of your magic? See if you can get us out of this.”
She scoffed at him. “Half of these beings are aliens. They’re not client material.”
Mel pressed, “That guy over there looks pretty lonely. I’m sure he could use a ‘companion’.
Inara rolled her eyes. “Let’s just see what they’re planning to do with us.”
River seemed to be in distress and it was intensifying.
“What’s wrong with her?” one of the guards asked.
“I don’t know.” Mel answered honestly. “She gets like that sometimes.
“She’s my sister.” Simon Tam announced. “I’m a doctor. Let me tend to her.”
The guard wouldn’t have it. “Stay where you are.” He knelt closer to hear what she was rambling about.
“The Chaos Bringer.” Was something he understood although he didn’t know what it meant. “M’Kran.”
*
Commander Shepard was quite a distance away, his back to them. He was peering in the direction of the downed space ship. It was
rather large. Not quite as big as the Normandy, but too big for an escape pod or even a shuttle.
Its design was foreign, but that wasn’t strange, there were still many unencountered civilizations out there. This would be his first
‘first encounter’ and to be honest, he was a little excited.
“Keep weapons down.” he told the others. “And stay back. I don’t want to spook them.”
The ship wasn’t much smaller than the Normandy but it looked to be in bad shape. Survivors would be impressive.
The ship opened and two individuals emerged. They were humanoid, wearing formal looking armor. Soldiers obviously. They carried
rifles which covered their line of vision.
Commander Shepard held his hands up. “I mean you no harm.” He looked at them carefully to see if the universal translator worked
on them.
No telling until they responded. The pair looked at each other, and then glared at Shepard puzzled.
The Commander’s heart sank. They couldn’t understand him.
Suddenly, River began shouting. The aliens perked as if they understood her.
The language she spoke apparently was the words of these aliens.
Those inside the ship heard her too.
“She babbles, but she’s mentioning the M’kran crystal. She must know we have it.”
“How could she, Deathbird? How could these beings even know about it?”
“This is a mission secret, Lilandra. No one knows that we have the M’Kran crystal with us. If she has identified it then these beings
must be after it.”
“We don’t know that. We can’t even communicate yet.”
“We were obviously attacked because we have the crystal! We can’t be too careful. The M’kran crystal is the last weapon that we
can use against the monster planet. I will take the darkhawks and secure our position. The rest of you, stay with Lilandra and guard
the crystal!”
Outside, a pair of Normandy crewmen tried to restrain River as she babbled on in the strange language.
The two Shi’ar soldiers stayed their post. Even they couldn’t understand what exactly she was talking about.
Then the door of the ship opened. Shepard and the others watched intently, unsure if this was a good thing or a bad thing. The new
event seemed to excite River even more. She shouted at whoever was inside the ship.
“Quiet her down!” Commander Shepard ordered.
The Normandy guards considering stunning her, but it took them a moment to agree on it. When they finally did, River went down
hard and her brother, as well as the rest of the Serenity crew, went into a frenzy. Still cuffed and on their knees, the group was no
real threat, but then figures began to emerge from the alien ship.
They didn’t walk out however. Instead that soared out on under armed wings. Their faces were helmeted with visors and sharp
aerodynamic designs. There were five of them, and then a sixed one came out. It was female and non-armored. But she was vicious
looking and she didn’t hesitate to order the others to attack.
Fight Parameters:
Commander Shepard and the crew of the Normandy defend themselves against the Shi’ar.
Deathbird leads five darkhawks against them. They will kill everyone, and if someone happens to survive, then that’s fine, they can
find some way to question them.
The Normandy crew will kill but will try to keep one alive for questioning.
Note: None of the five Darkhawks are Chris Powell. They are all Shi’ar commandos or whatever.
