Rand al'Thor
Rand al'Thor, also known as the Dragon Reborn, is the fictional protagonist of The Wheel of Time, a series of fantasy novels by Robert Jordan. Within the novels, he is the prophesied savior of the world who will save it from the Dark One, and break it in the process. To the Aiel he is the Car'a'carn, or He Who Comes with the Dawn. To the Atha'an Miere he is the Coramoor. Other names include Shadowkiller, Lord of the Morning, Prince of the Dawn, and True Defender of the Light.
Rand is depicted as being handsome and having gray or blue (interchanging) eyes and reddish hair. He is about 6'5" or 6'6" (196–197 cm) (as described by Robert Jordan) with a physique said to be typical of the Aiel. As a result of events at the end of the Knife of Dreams, Rand has lost his left hand just below the wrist. In his side he has two wounds that will not heal; a round wound from Ishamael received in the sky over Toman Head, with a slash overtop it from Padan Fain's tainted dagger received in the foothills of the Spine of the World near Cairhien.
Rand al'Thor is potentially the most powerful channeler ever to be born in the Wheel of Time novels. He has shown without much training that he could hold Egwene al'Vere and Elayne Trakand, two of the most powerful female channelers, captive in shields while weaving over a dozen other flows, without breathing hard. It is also hinted that he is particularly strong in both Fire and Spirit, because he can force his dreams on others, which requires strength in Spirit, and he can create weaves of Fire without much trouble at all.
