Illya looked up at the night sky and could see multiple taxis making circles around Apollo's Palace. It was no secret that he was throwing one of his elaborate parties and that his guests were from all over Taris. She hailed one. After a few seconds, a taxi came and Illya was taken to her destination: Vik Duresso's house. The ride to Vik's place would remind her that Vik really did live in the better part of Taris. Seeing the transition from Apollo's Palace to the Senate Building was really eye opening. The taxi would drop her off to the building just next to the Senate Building. The building that housed Vik Duresso.

Odae gave the Zygerrian a blank, unamused stare as she sipped her drink. "You're late," she'd retort. "And once again I have no idea what you are talking about. I haven't done anything," Odae would say, a hint of frustration in her voice. Adriav took a large gulp of his drink. He looked at Odae with narrow eyes, "So, you have no idea what that meeting was all about? Nothing at all? Nothing about how I got roped into an insane Apollo scheme where I and a dozen others have to compete in a winner takes all chariot race for all our assets, including our families?" He drained his glass and ordered another while he waited for her response. Odae wasn't stupid, she was a professional, she had to know something. But he'd never be able to read her face, he never could. Her deep brown eyes, cold and piercing, only revealed what she allowed.

It dropped her on the pad right next to Vik's Tarisian Sky-Wing, which she eyed jealously before paying her fare. It was late. Not late enough for Vik to be asleep. Unless, of course, he had an early day at work tomorrow. She hoped he had an early day. It was still late enough for him to ask questions. And questions were the last thing she wanted to deal with. She wiggled her fingers around inside of her handbag to retrieve the key card Vik had lent her and would proceed inside.

Illya would be able to hear the holo-screen in the room and could tell that Vik was most likely watching it. Once in the room, Vik would notice that she'd arrive. He'd immediately stand to welcome her to his place, with a smile.

"Well if you're going to be like that then no more drinks for you, dude. And I did tell you about the meeting. It was my job to get you there and you know good-and-damn-well I don't fuck up a job."

"Of course, you told me about the meeting, but you failed to mention the race I'd be strong-armed into participating in." He stated, still not looking in her direction. "He may have hurt my mother and brother. And he's trying to mess with my family's status and assets on Zygerria, and I've killed people for less."

"I'm sure you have," Odae said. "And I'm sure your family is fine. Apollo isn't the type to just hurt someone's family. He already has you by the balls so there isn't much of a reason to do that. All you can do is just play this by ear and win the damn race. Can't be that hard."

It was luxurious and reminded her of diamonds. Illya smiled back, but cut into the kitchen for a drink. Anything that would mask the smell of alcohol on her breath. Vik had something fruity sitting out, so she helped herself to that. "When did you get back, Mr. Guard Captain?" she teased. Casually, she set her handbag down behind the bar's centerpiece. Out of sight, out of mind, she figured. Then she would come out the other side of the bar and meet him in the living room.

Vik would walk over and put a hand on hers as causal as he would if they had actually been dating. He'd smile and sit on the stool across from her, grab some the same drink that Illya had and asked, "How was your night? You look like you've been somewhere fancy."

Illya didn't pull away from his hand. She liked the attention. It was something she had lacked since Nar Shaddaa. "Not too fancy. I stopped by an auction in the Mid-City." She shrugged. "They didn't have anything I wanted." As an afterthought, she tacked on, "Oh, do you have a comm-console here? I wanted to check in on my father at some point and going back to my ship seemed like a hassle..." She gave him the subtle pout that she knew he always fell for.

It's in the back room down the hall. Most of the apartments in this building have at them now cause of our close proximity to the Senate building. I haven't used it yet so feel free to break her in," Vik would say as he finished his glass. Vik would then walk her down the hall to show her the comms-room. "Here she is. One of the new ones too," Vik gloated as if he'd just bought a new speeder or something. He always would try to impress her.

Illya made sure to grab her handbag before she left the room and followed Vik to the comms-room. It was nestled next to the base of the staircase at the end of the corridor. And the room looked untouched-- like Vik hadn't stepped foot in there since he had moved in. She soaked in the gorgeous communication terminal and all of its shiny displays and state of the art hologram projector. She walked a circle around it, whistling in awe. "Very nice," she breathed. The room had the potential to be a great office, but she didn't dare say that out loud and give Vik more ideas. Illya didn't know if she wanted to break in the terminal now or wait until tomorrow when Vik was at work. She didn't want him to overhear anything questionable, but she also needed to know if her father was okay. If he knew the mines were being watched. If they were compromised. She decided to let Vik be the deciding factor. "Do you have any plans for us tonight?" she asked him, sweetness lacing her tone, "I don't know how long I'll be. I can just wait until tomorrow if you wanted to get dinner or..." She trailed off.

"Oh no it's okay, go ahead," Vik insisted. "I'm a bit tired. And honestly, I wasn't sure if you were okay with doing anything with me, like you know, like we use too. So I didn't book anything. But I'm totally yours tomorrow. I can finally give you that tour of the Senate building that I promised," he'd say as he headed to the door. "I'll be just in here, Ill. Come and join me when your done. You can tell me about your day or something," Vik said honestly then went to close the door.
