Here's something that is quite rare on this site: James Bond themed rumbles! This isn't really in celebration of any kind of milestone or anything like that, but this is a tournament starring Bond's supporting cast and enemies. Official film versions of characters only.
Miles Messervy, aka M (Dr. No, 1962 film)
Bio: Vice Admiral Miles Messervy was the head of MI7, and James Bond's commander. M respected Bond and trusted him almost unhesitatingly, but asserted his authority over the at times unruly agent. He could be congratulatory and affable to his most skilled agent at times, and is said to have had some wild undisclosed experiences with Bond and some women in Tokyo.
Powers, Abilities and Personality: Implied to be a heavily experienced military man, M wasn't prone to putting up with any nonsense but kept his professional demeanour up at all times. Presumably, he was quite a skilled fighter for his age given his experience.
vs.
R (The World is Not Enough, 1999 film)
Bio: The bumbling and comical assistant of Desmond Llewelyn's Q, R was employed at Q Branch not to think, but just to do whatever Q told him to do. At some point, R was promoted to being the new Q. R adopted a more serious attitude with the new position and gave James Bond his gadgets on his missions from that point on.
Powers, Abilities and Personality: As R he was rather incompetent, and his establishing moment involved his lab coat get stuck in the door of a BMW and he made numerous blunders since. However, as Q he was less humorous and adopted his predecessor's aversion to joking around in the workplace. This Q was less fond of James Bond than any other holder of the mantle, and often traded his sharp wit with that of the equally sharp Bond. Q was a good shot with a gun and was good at handling his dangerous gadgets, but only after he was appointed to be Q.
