Mina Murray (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (comic book))
Bio: The formerly happily married wife of Jonathan Harker, music teacher Mina Murray became embittered after her encounters with a certain Transylvanian nobleman with a moustache and found herself in the employ of the British government. She was appointed leader of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and even though she was far from the strongest member, her greater wits and intellect was what made her valuable. While the League officially disbanded following their first mission against the Martian invaders, Mina and some of her comrades had numerous adventures in their world of eccentricity throughout the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. She kept her youth and gained eternal life with the Pool of Immortality which she used alongside her lover, Allan Quartermain. She also once went undercover to get information from James Bond while using the fake identity of Oodles O'Quim.
Powers, Abilities and Personality: Mina could be very empathetic even towards the most monstrous of monsters such as Dracula and Edward Hyde, and felt great guilt for the death of Dracula over half a century after his death. Mina had strong feelings of self-loathing due to Dracula's bite marks in her neck having festered into large scars which she covered with a neck scarf. Over the centuries, Mina grew quite vocally cynical and bitter about how the culture of the 19th century was gradually replaced with pop culture that she viewed as inferior. She is completely immortal and forever youthful but not invincible.
vs.
Niles Caulder, aka the Chief (DC, New Earth)
Bio: The disabled but intellectually brilliant leader of the Doom Patrol, Niles Caulder founded the superhero team to protect the innocent and fight crime. Caulder believed that superhero work would help the world see some of the stranger superheroes as more than freaks. He funded the team's creation through the wealth he earned as an inventor. Indeed, a number of his teammates gained their powers because of Caulder's technological skills or because of his manipulation of events. Caulder was nowhere near the selfless humanist he made himself out to be, which was most prominently showcased when he murdered and destroyed the laboratory of the scientist who would become the Brain out of jealousy. Caulder also worked for the Justice League at one point to build a new training room for them.
Powers, Abilities and Personality: The Chief was a genius in numerous fields of scientific study and engineering, specialising in chemistry and robotics. He was a remorseless and talented schemer who caused many Doom Patrol members to become "freaks" in the first place, and mutilated numerous other innocent people too during his experiments. In many ways the Chief was no better than the overt villains that he sent his team to face. Caulder was also a chocoholic, and would become very irritable when deprived of his chocolate. Being a paraplegic confined to a wheelchair, his mobility is restricted.
The contest: a simple game of chess. Who would win?
