Location: Arkham Island, Gotham City (Arkhamverse)
Professor Hugo Strange strolled through the halls of Arkham Asylum, observing every patient there. Famous cases like Edward Nigma, Jervis Tetch, Julian Gregory Day, and then several dozen ordinary people that "wouldn't be missed" driven to lunacy by Strange's own experiments. Strange smiled smugly. With his new plans for Arkham City in development, and with Warden Sharp being very nearly under his thumb, soon every psycho, criminal and opponent to Strange would be at the mercies his the TYGER guards.
One case that somewhat fascinated Strange was that of Victor Fries. Among the many former scientists and doctors in Gotham that had turned to criminality and driven mad by the whispers hidden in the asylum's walls, Fries was one of the most brilliant, and certainly the most tragic. However, Strange also couldn't help but be frustrated with Mr. Freeze's wasted potential and utter lack of ability to take responsibility for any of his personal failures and misfortunes. Nothing could ever be Victor's fault. It was one of the core, principle flaws of Victor's character that could never be truly shaken.
Strange silently walked past Fries's refrigerated cell. Strange looked at Fries through the frozen glass, and Fries looked right back.
Victor had a very linear mind. If he was not thinking about his beloved, cryogenically preserved wife and hopes to find a cure for her condition, then he was thinking about his enemies, the people to blame for everything that has ever gone wrong in his life, those being Ferris Boyle and Batman. He was never affected by the other goings on in the asylum, and understandably never had any contact with other patients thanks to his own debilitating condition. He rarely even noticed anything going on outside of his cell.
However, on that day, Victor did take notice of something. Having seen that insufferable psychologist, Hugo Strange, walk by his icy cell, he somehow saw him walk past in the same direction, less than 20 seconds later, and without having seen him go backwards beforehand. Victor almost immediately knew what was going on. Basil Karlo, aka Clayface, was back at it again with his usual tricks.
Freeze opened the slit to his cell door. The hot rush of air took Fries aback for a second, but he then spoke up to get Clayface's attention.
"Hey! Karlo!" Fries said in a half-whisper, half-shout.
Karlo, still disguised as Strange, turned around. "What is it, Victor?" he asked.
"I need to get out of here! I need to get back to my Nora!" explained Fries.
"I suppose you think I'm looking for a good old-fashioned villain team-up? Well, you are correct. But wouldn't you burn up out here, Fries?"
"Well, I need my suit. It's confiscated in the intensive care facility. Could you get it for me, please?" asked Victor politely. "But hang on, why would you want to form an alliance with anybody here? Are you not supposed to be easily the most powerful and dangerous criminal kept here?"
"Variety is the spice of life, Victor. I don't have to disguise myself as Strange," said Basil, before quickly merging forms, "or Batman, or Gordon, or Cash. I was born to be an actor, and that is what I do."
And with that said, Clayface disguised as Aaron Cash strolled out of Victor's view and went on his way to the intensive care facility. Fries was quite humbled to speak to a complete scientific and logical anomaly as Karlo. The mystery of just how Karlo's body really worked, and how he could apparently change his physical mass at will were thoughts that had somehow never crossed Victor's mind before. He and Karlo weren't that different, as both of them had encounters with chemicals that did unforeseeable and seemingly impossible things to their bodies, and both had penchants for enacting revenge.
He was intrigued, a feeling he had not truly felt in a while, yet the looming shadow that Nora cast crossed his mind once again and drowned out his formerly scientific and rational mind. With ice being Karlo's main weakness, if the shapeshifting monster were to try any funny stuff, then Fries would freeze him solid for good.
Encasing the suit within his clay form, Karlo brought it back to Fries, and the two broke out of the asylum. Mr. Freeze created a bridge of ice with his gun between Arkham Island and the rest of Gotham.
"So, how about we rob some banks?" proposed Clayface.
"I like that idea, but what would you need the money for?" asked Mr. Freeze.
"Nothing, really. I just do this for fun." replied Clayface.
"Perhaps you could use it to pay for cleaning fluids for me. You got bits of clay stuck all round my suit." said Mr. Freeze seriously. Clayface took it as a joke, and laughed.
Location: Owlman's Laboratory, Gotham City (Crisis on Two Earths' Crime Syndicate Universe)
Owlman was busy working in his lab, researching into his one hypothesis about Earth Prime, as he called it. He believed that all other universes sprung from that first universe, due to human choices constantly creating new worlds. Owlman, being the ultimate nihilist, created a plan to destroy Earth Prime, and see if that destroyed every other Earth in the multiverse.
Owlman was testing his dimensional transportation technology that he created with his genius intellect, however, his machines were unstable to begin with. The only way for him to test if his machines were working was to travel between universes until he found the designation for Earth Prime.
"Let's have a quick look." said Owlman to himself.
And so, he travelled to the world of Arkham City, the Arkham Knight and the Titan drug. An interesting diversion from other universes, to say the least. But in Owlman's eyes, it didn't matter. Nothing mattered.
Shortly before this, Mr. Freeze and Clayface were causing havoc in the Bank of Gotham in the Arkhamverse. While Mr. Freeze used his gun to freeze everyone solid, keeping them alive, Clayface and his spawned clay minions were savagely cutting and crushing everyone in their way. It was at that moment that Fries realised that he may have made a mistake in teaming up with Clayface, an unrepentant murderer with no remorse or empathy, only a step below the likes of Joker in terms of evilness.
As Clayface raided the cash stores, Fries aimed his freeze ray at his partner in crime. Clayface slowly turned around, with a look of only slight confusion on his face.
"Kinda knew it would come to this. You never really were one of us, were you Victor? Always worrying about that precious wife of yours and never wanting to have any fun." said Clayface.
"This gun can put you in a state below absolute zero. I will use it." said Mr. Freeze monotonously.
"You know, the Bat and the Bird'll be coming here soon. You can't handle both of them. We can crush them together, my friend."
"I'm no friend of yours. And I'll take my chances with the vigilantes." said Mr. Freeze, before firing his weapon and freezing Clayface in his smaller form instantly.
Mr. Freeze heard the police pull up outside of the bank doors. Using his gun, he put a blockade of ice in the doorframe several dozen inches thick. He thought that nobody would be getting in. That is, until a bright light appeared from behind him.
Emerging from this portal that appeared from nowhere was Owlman. The stranger to the Arkhamverse looked around.
"Batman!" yelled Freeze before firing his gun directly at Owlman. Owlman dodged to the side, and the freeze ray went into the portal, presumably freezing some gadgets in Owlman's lab solid instead of the man himself.
"Well, I can safely say that this is not Earth Prime." said Owlman while looking up at his attacker.
"How did you get here? What is that thing that you emerged from?" interrogated Mr. Freeze.
"It is none of your concern." replied Owlman, before firing an explosive round at Mr. Freeze, but this only ended up sending a piece of debris flying straight back at the genocidal maniac. The impact caused Owlman to tumble onto the floor, far away from his portal.
"This is the end of you, Batman." threatened Freeze.
"Assuming that you built that weapon, I'm guessing that you're a smart man, if you are a man at all. Tell me this, then. Do bats have feathers?" asked Owlman rhetorically while displaying his owl-themed costume. "Now I'm going to kill you and then head back to my own dimension, where my plans for the end of all reality will begin." Owlman continued.

The outcome...
Mr. Freeze, surprise surprise, shot another freeze ray at his opponent. Owlman used a grappling hook to get onto the rafters, evading it.
"Stealth tactics..." said Mr. Freeze.
Swinging from gargoyle to gargoyle, rafter to rafter, Owlman kept moving and made sure he was out of site. Mr. Freeze used his advanced technology built into the suit to scan his surroundings. Eventually, Owlman kept out of the shadows, and clang to Freeze's back, but was blasted off by the thrusters on the back of Freeze's suit. As Mr. Freeze aimed his gun, Owlman kicked it out of his hand, before initiating a no-holds-barred beat down.
Eventually knocking Freeze to the ground, Owlman began punching him while he was down, breaking through Freeze's glass helmet and hurting him badly.
After having had his "fun", Owlman stood up and took an explosive from his utility belt. However, before he could use it, Mr. Freeze's ice barricade was broken by nothing other than the Batmobile! Out from it sprang Batman and Robin. Several cops that had been waiting for them flanked the crime fighters.
Figuring that he was outnumbered, Owlman bolted back to his portal, never to be seen by anyone from the Arkhamverse again.
"Who the heck was that guy? His costume looked like yours." Tim asked his mentor.
"Probably just an imposter, looking to spread their own brand of justice. Nothing more." reassured Bruce.
"He sure took good care of frost face over here." said Robin. Batman didn't respond. The caped crusaders helped the utterly battered Mr. Freeze up, and back to Arkham.
