Since realizing only one female has been Character of the Month so far, I figured January should have the theme of strong female characters. These are some of the heroines that have been in the limelight recently...
Jessica Jones
Supergirl
Agent Carter
Rey
Spider-Gwen

I've voted for Jessica Jones since she has a rich background story that not many people are aware of.
Most of the other choices have little to none background story worth mentioning and those that do are, afaik, so well known that exploring it is basically a waste of time.

Well as a Supes fan I know all about Supergirl already so Kainboa is right there and honestly we have done enough Superman level battles on here to last us for years however Jessica Jones is the best one here. Agent Carter is okay but there is not many she can go against. Spider-Gwen is really nothing new. Just a what if Gwen got bit and not Peter. Rey is too inexperienced and does not have really anybody she can beat. Jessica has a refreshing and compelling background. Honestly she has so many good street level foes she can fight. I voted Jones.

I have to admit, I'm curious to know how you've deciphered exactly who I was talking about, since to the best of my reading comprehension, I haven't actually specified which characters I was talking about, other than Jones whom I voted for.

I just said Supergirl and Spider-Gwen had some background. Not that you were talking about them exactly. You said most so I just used them as examples.

Moving on to the rest of the list, we've got Agent Carter who to an extent has some background story, but in the incarnation shown here, she has less than a year of background to pull from, again not impressive. Then we have Rey, who doesn't even have a full month of showing time, and who has only appeared in one movie thus far. So, to sum it all up, most of the characters on the list have been active for about a year, being generous in rounding up the time, giving them little to no background story worth mentioning, as I posted earlier. While the last two, being Jessica Jones and Supergirl, has been around for more than 10 and 50 years respectively.

I guess I'm convinced to vote for Jessica Jones. Should be interesting. And I haven't seen Star Wars yet so I wouldn't be able to contribute to Rey at all (I just here found out her name).

I voted Supergirl, because she's one of the few major DC superheroes that I've never really bothered to get to know that well. I mean, yeah, I know her backstory and can recall some of her adventures, but when it comes to reading up on all of the overhauls the character has had over the years, I just roll my eyes and yawn. A nice, condensed dozen paragraphs explaining the character and all the variations of her that have existed over the years would be swell. Wasn't there a period where the character was replaced by a shapeshifting creature or some shit like that? The whole 'dozen paragraphs' thing might not even be possible actually, come to think of it.
But if the CotM only focuses on the TV incarnation who I think has only debuted a few weeks ago, then I might change by vote to Jessica since there probably isn't enough information regarding TV-universe Supergirl.

I think to keep things a bit more interesting, they won't just be their TV incarnations.
