I've decided to create some short stories set in the Doctor Who universe, because why not? Happy reading.
"Monsters Inside Shells" - Two Dalek factions enter a brutal civil war on their home planet, Skaro! For Davros, it is like déjà vu. Which side will be victorious?
The small Dalek fleet moved silently through space, and was headed towards their old home planet: Skaro. Around a hundred or so flying saucers spun in unison. The New Dalek Paradigm initiative had allowed the Daleks to survive their apparent destruction by the Doctor's clone's hand in the heart of the Medusa Cascade centuries ago. Their overarching plan to conquer and destroy continued. There was rumour that their creator had survived the destruction of the Crucible as well, and the fleet's objective was to seek him out.
"Alert! There are many life signs on the surface of Skaro!" screeched a lowly bronze-shelled Dalek soldier working at a monitor on the main flagship.
The white-shelled Supreme Dalek emerged from the corridors with two red-shelled Drone Daleks at its sides. The commanding officer observed the scanner. There was a whole city perched in the middle of the otherwise lifeless and irradiated desert landscapes of Skaro's largest continent.
"Send an attack squadron in forty rels!" demanded the Supreme Dalek before gliding down another corridor on the ship.
Davros had indeed escaped the Crucible through the use of an emergency temporal shift device not unlike the ones that the members of the Cult of Skaro used. He was painfully transported through the space-time vortex, and conveniently found himself on Skaro, or at least a planet very similar to it. The Daleks' creator had no idea that the New Dalek Paradigm saw the light of day, and had instead been slowly rebuilding a new Dalek city on his home planet. He had conditioned his own newly created Daleks to be respectful and loyal to him; nonetheless, he couldn't fully control them. The city had been weakened after Davros had an encounter with the Doctor and his Time Lady "friend", but the Daleks soon managed to rebuild their home. Also, Davros had his lifespan increased by the Doctor's regeneration energy.
In his private chamber, the crippled mad scientist slid over to a window in his high-tech wheelchair, and stared into the distance. He looked up, and there they were; his beloved Daleks descending from space. "What? How can this be?" he said to himself. He concluded that the only explanation was that some Daleks from the Crucible had indeed survived, and were on their way home.
A legion of New Paradigm Daleks left their spaceships and flew to the city while chanting "EXTERMINATE!" over and over. Davros realised that these New Paradigm Daleks would not be loyal to him, so sent a legion of his own Daleks to stop the invading ones. The Daleks operating in the city, lead by a unique red-and-gold-shelled Supreme Dalek, elevated into the sky to meet the New Paradigm ones in midair.
The two opposing groups of Daleks scanned and analysed each other from within their tanks. Both groups concluded that the others were "impure Daleks".
"You are merely crude imitations of the true Daleks of Skaro! You will all be exterminated!" yelled the red-gold-shelled Supreme Dalek to its white-shelled counterpart.
"We were created from pure Dalek DNA out of the Progenitor device. We are the supreme beings in the universe, not you!" boomed the white-shelled Supreme Dalek in reply. "We are here to retake control of the home-world! Prepare to be exterminated!"
A full scale battle between the two groups ensued. Blue laser beams were being fired everywhere, from all angles. Daleks living in the city looked up to the skies and saw explosions and broken Dalek shells falling to the ground. Both sides were evenly matched. That is, they were until Davros unleashed the Special Weapons Daleks upon his enemies. Special Weapons Daleks wielded incredibly powerful ray guns, but were driven insane and mute by the immense amounts of radiation that leaked into their shells. When they were sent into the battlefield, the New Paradigm faction was forced to retreat due to heavy losses.
"Retreat! Retreat! Retreat!" chanted the white-shelled Supreme Dalek, as he and the other New Paradigm Daleks flew back to their flying saucers and went to outer space in a flash.
Davros sat alone and contemplated silently. The whole scenario was very similar to an earlier war between two Dalek groups, but he was most unimpressed with the newer designs of the Paradigm Daleks. "The design of their shells made them weak," he thought, "The Daleks could not have created any good upgrades for themselves on their own. Perhaps it is time for me to revisit some of the old favourites for inspiration..."
He sat back and began to remember his old Dalek designs, such as the dark grey-shelled ones he first showed to the other Kaled scientists during the Thousand Year War, and the white-and-gold-shelled 'Imperial' Dalek designs that he created during the Dalek civil war. Davros began to chuckle as he was overcome with nostalgia. He was so very proud of his "children" and their achievements over the decades. He found some of the older blueprints for the Mark III travel machines, aka the Daleks' tanks, and immediately set up plans to bring back some of his favourite Dalek designs from the past.
A few weeks later, Davros watched eagerly as multiple different older Dalek designs flooded out of the misty chambers in which they had been created. He retreated back to his own chamber, and picked up the severed dome and eyestalk of a red-shelled Drone Dalek from the New Dalek Paradigm that had been destroyed in the battle with his metal hand. He quickly threw it aside. "How utterly absurd..." he muttered.
