... Those in the market would be free to continue their conversations. Case in point as Reynard said to his companions. "Why do you suppose all this is happening? The Romans are harsh, but they have always dealt fairly till now." The archer strode forth, presumably with the Shaolin in tow. She emanated her usual stoic exterior, noticeably alert as she paused every so then to gauge her surroundings. She made it quite blatantly obvious in her motion, her dominant hand gripping her yew longbow firm. Sanctuarium was not familiar grounds, and her people's relations with the Romans were... delicate. Surprising that'd a Scot'd frame it like that in mind, yea'? Still... she was welcome just like anyone else. Which was not reason enough to be lax in caution. Her easy gait shifted gracefully, culminating in Dara turning on the ball of her ankle as to regard Reynard closely. Her eyes lingered briefly over her new friend, concern hardly visible in her features before flickering to the ground. It was evident that Dara was thinking. She returned her eyes whence they'd come, scouring the marketplace that had emptied in haste, her right hand resting on her hip now. She'd speak. "Ae know not the Romans' politics or why the lot of them ar' like that. So much fer their espoused civility," Dara shrugged derisively, though a smile clarified she was only making light of it. "Perhaps there be pressure on the Roman people? Somethin' afoot behind closed doors? Ae don't like speculation, more than ae like shootin' blindfolded in tha dark." She murmured softly before continuing. "My experience goes only so far. Ae've handled the rowdy sorts twixt clans and the vikings in tha diplomatic sense. Much simpler, ae'd say." She took notice Basho was somewhat silent. Maybe, she thought, Shaolin monks took their meditation too seriously. "What be yer thoughts, Reynard?" Meanwhile: ever loyal Airgead filled in the momentary gaps in Dara's alertness, ears a twitching as a predatory gaze scrutinized everything in view. Any manner of beast or man make a wrong impression or gesture, they'd be embroiled into a lesson in wolven etiquette. The same extended to the monks, though Dara's presence and current easy, if careful, mood stayed Airgead's fangs (hand).

@manor
"Shoot them both. We will not tolerate the lies of those who enter the Masters house. Perhaps afterwards, we can determine your innocence in a Roman Court of Law."
And considering what exactly, constituted that nowadays, that usually meant the Arena.
And then crossbow bolts came flying, directed at both of their thighs in an attempt to cripple before the guards rushed in en masse.
@arena
The Moasasaur roared as the harpoons flew and at one point, emerged from the depths to snap in its jaws one of the longboats and its occupants, crunching and bringing them down into the depths with it.
Such was the party at the arena, though for those who concentrated on other matters, there was a very interesting conversation occurring up where Senator Gaius was as one of his advisors approached him and whispered in his ear.
His face didn't change, save for an odd smile as he remarked.
"So tell me, I am curious...Between our Legionaries and your own Samurai, who do you think would come out victorious on the field of battle? Hypothetically of course."
@market
Reynard seemed slightly distracted, before finally speaking.
"...I think now would be a good time-"
"YOU THERE!"
A Roman patrol was approaching the trio as their captain declared.
"By order of the Legion, you boy are to come with us."

"...Wow. They just...THIS MOSASAUR IS GREAT! ALMOST AS GOOD AS MINE!" She puncher her knuckles together in excitement, enjoying the show. "I may get to face it yet! One can only hope, isn't that right?" She raised a hand, swiping a glass of wine directly from the server's tray with a loud "thanks!" before she returned her attention to the arena. "Go go go go gooooooo!"

"By the Legion..." Numerius whispered, looking at the display of ferociousness in the Arena. Ever since joining the Legion, he has traveled far, his memories of the Arena all but forgotten. Those memories brought back as he witnessed the ongoing fight in the Arena.
Being high up had it's perks, he had a good view of the Arena, and there was almost no one else this high up. The only other person he could notice was Senator Gaius...How odd that the Senator would be here.
He tried to catch a glimpse of what he was speaking about, his curiosity getting the best of him.

Minnora's stomach churned as the boat and the men in it disappeared under the water. So, staying in the boat wasn't even likely...
"I think... I've seen enough," she began, passing Tord her cup of wine. Maybe drinking two days in a row had been a bad idea.

Tord laughed at Minnora's correction, drinking his wine as he continued the conversation. "Aye..." said Tord, looking up and down at Minnora's body "..a woman indeed. No mistaking that." Minnora blushed, aware of his straying eyes. Correction: Her father would have him executed... End of story. "I'm not so sure," Tord answered "Ya can't avoid the sea forever. Damn near impossible these days. And you'll never know the joys of swimming along fish and water wrestling! That simply won't do. Tis my duty as a Viking to teach ya. We're excellent swimmers, ya know?" Her brows furrowed inward in thought. Water wrestling...? Avoiding the sea might be impossible for a shipwright, but she wasn't so sure that applied to her. Hell, there were hundreds of men that had never laid eyes on the sea ---much less water wrestled... She opened her mouth to voice her skepticism, but was quickly interrupted by the return of a drenched Nora. "The best swimmers!" She added, approaching their seats from behind. She was still ridiculously wet, of course, and each step made a squishy plop sound as she descended. "Hey again! Whoo! You would not believe the view I had, simply breathtaking. I was so close! Right up until their security pulled me back from the railing. Apparently you're not supposed to lean over..." She shrugged before shaking her head vigorously, aiming to dry her hair like a dog did its fur. "So you can't swim, huh? And you didn't drop out immediately after seeing all that water?" She grinned, pointing at Minnora with both hands playfully. "Ho ho ho! Take note, let it be known as true, she is indeed fearless! More wine for her indeed!" She dropped down into the nearest available seat. "Yes, teaching to swim is one idea, and a good one. But...perhaps a partnership or a mount as well could work, aye? Ye are an archer after all, right? I swim and ye could sit on my back. I swim and you shoot! Or well hehehe...we could tame the beast and let you use it as a horse. Except in water. A seahorse!" Minnora broke into a surprised laugh. "Well, it seems I should have asked you first," she said, pausing briefly to shoot Tord a jesting look, "You're the one with all the ideas!" She looked back at the arena. If she had considered dropping out of tomorrow's match before, she definitely couldn't do it now... Not with the Vikings praising her like they were. What was the world coming to that she was more acknowledged by foreigners than her own people...? It was ridiculous! "Seahorse..." she repeated thoughtfully, "It's not a bad idea... Just risky... And that's only if the boats don't pan out..." She followed the train of thought, processing the possibilities. "To Minnora The Fearless, then!" Tord boasted, ready to toast to her again. "Aye, no better lessons than from a child of the sea. Plenty of tricks to learn. You could sit on me shoulders, me being so much bigger than tha two of ya! Never have ta worry bout drowning." @arena The Moasasaur roared as the harpoons flew and at one point, emerged from the depths to snap in its jaws one of the longboats and its occupants, crunching and bringing them down into the depths with it. "Got one ya'self, eh Nora? Can't say I'm not surprised! You're as fearless as she is, HA!" Tord said pointing at Minnora. Though she didn't seem to hear, as Minnora was looking more and more green. "Aye, ready to leave are ye? Feeling under the weather?"

Minnora could hear the cheering and excited shouts of the onlookers. She could even hear the battle cries of the men in the arena. But, even more boisterous, was the sound of lapping water and the angry groans of the Mosasaur... She hoped the gladiators could fend off the beast. She hoped it would be floating in a shimmering pool of its own blood by days end... However, from this angle, it looked less and less likely... And the possibility of ending up in the water with that creature was making her feel sick. "Aye," she answered to Tord, "It seems I've had too much to drink... Thinking about sleeping it off and clearing my head 'fore tomorrow..."

Yoritomo was absolutely awe struck. He had never witnessed something like this ever in his life. He was no stranger to battle, quite the opposite, he was a very capable swordsman. But this.....
"This is unreal... Damn it, what have I gotten myself into?"

" This is unreal... Damn it, what have I gotten myself into?" "Afraid, my new friend? It would be inhuman not to be..." Numerius said, looking at his new companion. "Worry not, I believe that tomorrow, there will be another stipulation. Wouldn't want to bore our guests in the Arena." He said, taking a sip of wine. After he had finished, he returned to eavesdropping on the Senator.

Yoritomo chuckled "That's a first, I've never been that good with gambling" He moved past the other men and sat down in a chair. He leaned back and stretched as he made himself comfortable. "Where to begin?" he yawned, "I'm samurai and I'm from the Pearl. I'm on a journey around to world to try and do some good, or as much as I can. My father is a bodyguard for the leader of our clan, and my mother is a Shinto priestess." He takes a sip of his wine, "Not much else to say, sadly. What about you three gentlemen?" Reiko's lips pressed together and he nodded at the mention of his name by Numerius. " Hai. My name is Reiko." He naturally had a deep-seated dislike of samurai and their ilk, as their corruption, arrogance, and brutality were the very reason his order existed. He hadn't much experience with them, but his elders and Sensei had had plenty to say about them during his instruction. However, this disdain didn't show in his face, so hopefully Yoritomo wouldn't notice. At the mosasaur's mashing of the gladiators, he'd grin openly for a moment in fascination and perhaps glee before returning to a neutral expression. Upon noticing Yoritomo's fear, he'd smirk. Clearly he was unequipped for the majesty of the arena. A thrill Reiko knew perhaps too well in the weeks he'd spent preparing.

Numerius laughed, "You know, when I was a lad, I was just the son of an fruit merchant. Never thought I'd get to where I am now, actually" he said, laughing.

Fen moved the moment the majordomo finished speaking. She knew the Hassassin could handle herself and so she left her behind to attack. Crossbows were clumsy weapons; easy to fire but difficult to load. Even a skilled user would take at least two minutes to load and a few seconds to aim. Enough to kill many of them by herself with the Hassassin it was surly possible. With that she went to work.

"It depends on which one you go through, that is what counts."
