"Ah girl don't worry about facing these beasts tomorrow. I doubt you'll even see them. With all the prisoners that they are throwing in battle, I doubt they will have enough boats to carry them all." Tord grumbled, "What's your usual way of preparing for these gladiator bouts?" "I practice," she answered, giving him a playful sideways glance. She shrugged her shoulder to make the bow across her back more prominent. "Typically, I don't need to know much about my opponents. If I'm lucky, I win from a distance. If not," she hesitated, "I... figure it out. Versatility is key." Minnora stared out over the small boats and the gladiators in them. "That..." she continued, nodding towards them, "I'm not sure I could do."

Tord used his hand to wiggle her bow, laughing then giving her a good pat on the back before drinking down his wine and continuing to watch the game. The beasts seemed to be winning...and the crowd loved it. "They fight the same ya know? From a distance! You could do it if ya weren't so scared of em. Mind, I don't blame ya. Even the fearless gotta know what not to trifle with."

Numerius carefully observed the Arena, looking at the monsters. Ferocious creatures, they kill each other, and the Gladiators. Well, it didn't seem like the Gladiators were experienced to begin with.
"Yoritomo, it seems you were correct on betting on the sea creatures. They have the advantage here, no doubt about that."
He turned and faced the new guy.
"Tell me some more about you, why don't you?"

Tord bellowed a big laugh as he slapped his knee, "HA! AYE! Spoken like the true Minnora the fearless! You certain Viking blood doesn't run in your veins? It certainly runs in your tongue!" Minnora couldn't help but to laugh along with him. Had she been back home, her parents would have scolded her for such spirit. Here, she was free to drink, get splashed with seawater, and joke around with as many Vikings as she pleased. "Oi! More wine!" she called to a nearby vendor that had been making his way up and down the stands. She gave Tord a questioning glance, as if asking if he also wanted more, before paying. The Roman woman fell silent and watched the arena fight a little longer, eyes lingering on the gladiators and their equipment. Plenty of men had fallen into the water at this point. Most of them had failed to resurface. Suddenly anxious, she drank her wine. Without removing her eyes from the dark waters, she leaned closer to Tord and spoke so that only he could hear her. "So, fun fact," she began, voice bubbly despite her confession, "I can't swim..."

What will ya have, Lass?" Tord asked as he paid the vender for the drink then turned his attention back to her as she got in close and told him she could swim. Tord froze for a moment, confused. "What was that? What ya say? Can't swim?"

"You heard me right," she grumbled unenthusiastically, "Wasn't raised around it. Never needed to learn...." She watched the Mosasaur skim the surface of the water, just a glimpse of how massive it actually was. "And that, there, is a hell of a lot of water..."

Tord kept his eyes locked on Minnora, still stunned by this revelation. She couldn't swim...now it made sense why she was hesitant about the water. After a moment Tord spoke, "Aye... Nothing to be ashamed of love. You traded in your normal womanly skills to become a hard ass warrior! Swimming was just a casualty. HA! Can say I believe you about not being Viking though. Guess I'll have ta teach ya then!" Tord said, ready to make a toast to Minnora.

Hard ass warrior I may be, but I'm still very much a woman." After her correction, she chuckled lightly. In spite of everything, at least she had good company. If Tord had ever walked into her mothers' inn, talking to Minnora as casually as he was now, her father would have carved the tongue right out of the Vikings mouth. The Roman would be furious to find out his only daughter had befriended the barbarians --much less that they consistently joked about her being one of them. After taking another sip of her wine, she came back to the conversation. "Anyway, no point in teaching me now, is there? I either drown tomorrow... Or I don't. No matter the outcome, I don't plan on ever going near this much water ever again..."

"Aye..." said Tord, looking up and down at Minnora's body "..a woman indeed. No mistaking that." Tord quickly laughed off his comment as he turned back to the game. Another big splash hit them. One of the boats was courageous enough to pin one of the creatures to the wall. The force of the blow most likely killing it. "I'm not so sure," Tord answered "Ya can't avoid the sea forever. Damn near impossible these days. And you'll never know the joys of swimming along fish and water wrestling! That simply won't do. Tis my duty as a Viking to teach ya. We're excellent swimmers, ya know?"

"The best swimmers!" She added, approaching their seats from behind. She was still ridiculously wet, of course, and each step made a squishy plop sound as she descended. "Hey again! Whoo! You would not believe the view I had, simply breathtaking. I was so close! Right up until their security pulled me back from the railing. Apparently you're not supposed to lean over..." She shrugged before shaking her head vigorously, aiming to dry her hair like a dog did its fur.
"So you can't swim, huh? And you didn't drop out immediately after seeing all that water?" She grinned, pointing at Minnora with both hands playfully. "Ho ho ho! Take note, let it be known as true, she is indeed fearless! More wine for her indeed!"
She dropped down into the nearest available seat. "Yes, teaching to swim is one idea, and a good one. But...perhaps a partnership or a mount as well could work, aye? Ye are an archer after all, right? I swim and ye could sit on my back. I swim and you shoot! Or well hehehe...we could tame the beast and let you use it as a horse. Except in water. A seahorse!"

Tord laughed at Minnora's correction, drinking his wine as he continued the conversation. "Aye..." said Tord, looking up and down at Minnora's body "..a woman indeed. No mistaking that." Minnora blushed, aware of his straying eyes. Correction: Her father would have him executed... End of story. "I'm not so sure," Tord answered "Ya can't avoid the sea forever. Damn near impossible these days. And you'll never know the joys of swimming along fish and water wrestling! That simply won't do. Tis my duty as a Viking to teach ya. We're excellent swimmers, ya know?" Her brows furrowed inward in thought. Water wrestling...? Avoiding the sea might be impossible for a shipwright, but she wasn't so sure that applied to her. Hell, there were hundreds of men that had never laid eyes on the sea ---much less water wrestled... She opened her mouth to voice her skepticism, but was quickly interrupted by the return of a drenched Nora. "The best swimmers!" She added, approaching their seats from behind. She was still ridiculously wet, of course, and each step made a squishy plop sound as she descended. "Hey again! Whoo! You would not believe the view I had, simply breathtaking. I was so close! Minnora broke into a surprised laugh. "Well, it seems I should have asked you first," she said, pausing briefly to shoot Tord a jesting look, "You're the one with all the ideas!" She looked back at the arena. If she had considered dropping out of tomorrow's match before, she definitely couldn't do it now... Not with the Vikings praising her like they were. What was the world coming to that she was more acknowledged by foreigners than her own people...? It was ridiculous! "Seahorse..." she repeated thoughtfully, "It's not a bad idea... Just risky... And that's only if the boats don't pan out..." She followed the train of thought, processing the possibilities.

He leaned back and stretched as he made himself comfortable. "Where to begin?" he yawned, "I'm samurai and I'm from the Pearl. I'm on a journey around to world to try and do some good, or as much as I can. My father is a bodyguard for the leader of our clan, and my mother is a Shinto priestess." He takes a sip of his wine, "Not much else to say, sadly. What about you three gentlemen?"

Numerius nodded, as he sipped his wine. "Interesting, interesting. Yes, it seems I've encountered many Samurai these past couple of years. Your people are prideful, and strong willed." He said, complementing him. He pointed to himself. "I'm a Decanus, a commander, in the Roman Legion. Explains how we got these seats, at least." He explained, chuckling himself. "These are Reiko, and Hansel, as he's introduced himself. We came with a bigger group." He said, siganling towards the Viking duo and Minnora. "Those three down there," He said, pointing towards them. "They were part of our little group, but decided that the action would be better up close. The blonde woman is scheduled to fight tomorrow. I hope she can hold her own. Alone against these beasts, no person could win."
