Name: Aiko Efuru
Tier 1: Street level
Alignment: Villain
Location: Reach
Origins:
Vestige Island, off the coast of Reach Island
“How long will you be gone?” Aiko asked breathing in deeply the fresh ocean breeze. She sat perched upon the cliff which looked out at the sea that separated them from Reach Island. You could see some of the tallest buildings from here, but from Reach you could maybe see this spec of green amongst the vast blue if you knew where to look.
“Aiko, there is something I must do in Reach.” He reached for her shoulder but she pulled away.
“So you will leave for the big city and leave us all in the past? On to bigger and better things, huh?”
“No, you know that isn’t true.”
Aiko bit her bottom lip; it was all she could do to hold back her weary tears.
“Aiko, I love you, but Vestige... It has nothing more left for me.”
“What more do you want? You have it all family, admiration… You’re greed is sickening Senzen.”
She turned her back to him, and there was another stronger gust of wind. Her bleach white hair blew into her face, hiding the tears that trailed her cheeks.
“Just leave Senzen, and never come back.”
Personality:
Days Later
Aiko slumbered in the branches of the great acacia tree. Its roots reached every corner of the island, and lure will tell that they travel even to the depths of the earth’s core. As Aiko slept, she didn’t notice the small women shuffle towards the tree’s base. She let out a loud yawn before dropping herself down into the tree’s shade. Aiko is startled from her nap, and immediately grabs the sword at her hip.
“Oh, it’s just you Mara.”
“Yes, just old Mara.” She lifted her foot up with surprisingly flexibility and picked at her toes, biting off a loose toenail with her teeth and spitting it to the floor.
“You’re disgusting.”
Mara smiled a toothy smile, and pushed aside some wiry gray hairs from her face. “So I heard what has become of Senzen, running away to the mainland, did you want to talk about it?”
“No, go away.” She turned on the broad branch that she laid on.
“You know I remember when you two were ye’ high,” She sets a bar at her waist, “-how you used to run after him. He would call out from the fields, ‘Mara! Mara! Aiko is trying to kiss me again.’ And you two would run and run until the sunset.”
“That was many years ago.”
“Yes, now you’re mature; he a young man and you a beautiful young lady. You’ve had to make grown decisions have you not?”
Communication: One with Earth (2)
Aiko finally snaps at the old woman, turning towards her from the branch.
“You expect me to forgive him? Forgive him for abandoning us; for abandoning me?”
The sky began to turn as Aiko’s voice rose. What used to be a clear blue sky was suddenly cluttered with dark overcasting clouds. A strong wind picked up, moving the limbs of the acacia tree.
Mara tried to reason over the howl of the winds, “You are blinded by your pain my child. You cannot feel the Earth beneath you anymore. Can you feel Senzen?”
The winds calmed and Aiko jumped to the ground. She put her hand to the Earth and closed her eyes as she felt outward.
“Oh no… Senzen.”
Slashing Weapon: Righteous Steel (4):
Club Gomorra, Back Alley
His back cracked against the brick alley wall, but before he could yelp in pain the blade quickly was pressed against his throat.
“I do not have time for this.” Aiko said pressing the blade harder.
“I told you, I told you I never heard of him.”
“Do you take me for a fool?” She grabs him, and throws him to the ground. He slides hard against a dumpster.
“Okay okay…” He says as she steps forward blade ready. “But if you’re looking for Senzen, you’re looking for some pretty fucked up people.”
“Who is to say, I’m all together myself?” She pushes the blade harder, and draws blood.
“The guy you’re looking for is Jared. He owns the club.”
“What has he done with Senzen?”
“I don’t know. He showed up a couple of days ago looking for work. That’s all I know.”
She pulled back her blade, and began walking towards the club. He wipes the small amount of blood from his neck.
“You know you’re going to get yourself killed little lady!”
Martial Arts: Unarmed Weapon (6)
The lights streamed through the enchanting fog and the beat pulsated rhythmically through her body. She smiled as the adrenaline coursed through her. She walked through the crowd of glistening and grinding men until she made it to the other side of the club. There was a set of stairs that was behind a row of velvet ropes. She nonchalantly stepped under and through them.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
A large hand grabbed her shoulder, attempting to pull her back. She spun out of his grip and turned to burly man.
“No one walks through that rope unless I say so.”
She somersaults through the air and her foot lands squarely on his chin. He topples to the floor with a solid thud that is lost in the emphatic beat of the music.
She runs up the stairs.
Combat Supremacy: Swift Vengeance (10)
At the top of the stairs the décor suddenly changes. The crude and loud design is replaced with a rustic and defined wall panel. The lights are dim and you can barely hear the music, but you can feel the base in your feet.
She silently walks until she hears footsteps. Quickly, she pulls at a door and hides in the dark room. From inside she can hear the guards as they pass by.
“We have a potential code downstairs. Josh isn’t answering his walkie. We’re going to check on it now, Enigma.”
As their footsteps draw closer, she readies herself and once they’re right by the door she bursts out. The door smacks into one, and he falls to the ground but the other immediately reaches for his weapon. But hers is already drawn and she smacks the gun from his hand with the broad side of the blade. The gun slides down the hall, and he lunges toward her but she ducks under him and slides through his legs. He gathers himself and turns, but she jumps at the wall kicking off towards him knee first. He falls to the ground, but his partner is already on her.
From behind her, he’s grabbed both her arms as he reaches for his restraint. She throws her head back, cracking against his nose and he immediately begins to gush from his face. His grip loosens and she pulls free grabbing her sword and plunging into his body.
Weapons Master: (12)
The door flies open to reveal a small office room. It is unnecessarily brightly lit against the oak panel walls and fur carpet. A man sat behind a desk at the far side of the room. His glasses sitting on the very tip of his nose, he looks up in agitation at Aiko.
“My heavens, I have never seen such inept security in all my days. You’re late by the way.” He said pointing a finger. “You were supposed to be here yesterday.”
“Don’t act like you know me. Where is Senzen?” She points her blade at the man and blood drips from the tip.
He watches the drop of blood fall to the carpet. “Lucky for you, I’m not too keen for that rug, or the rest of this room.”
“Take me to Jared, or I will kill you.”
“I’m afraid you’re even later for that. Jared is dead sweetheart.” He says getting up from the table and removing his glasses. “I suppose I should introduce myself; my name is Enigma. I am the new management here at Club Gomorra.”
Aiko steadies her weapon, “I don’t care about you or this club, I swear I’ll take your head clean off! Where is Senzen?”
“Oh, of course, Senzen.” He moves back behind the desk. “I suppose you could say he’s… unavailable.”
“What have you done-“ She steps forward.
“Tsk tsk tsk,” he says quickly, “I wouldn’t do that, if you ever want to see Senzen again.”
Weather Control: Long line of Warriors (14)
Aiko eyes the man up and down, quickly determining that he looked nothing above average. He wore a black suit and a skinny black tie against a white shirt, but there was something different. In this room, she couldn’t feel anything. She couldn’t feel the sky, or the earth beneath her. It was as if she was in some sort of limbo.
“Now dear, I work for some very powerful people. Powerful people that are interested in you! Now, I know we got off to the wrong foot, but I assure you that we will share a flourishing friendship, Aiko.”
“Let me see Senzen, I need to know that he’s okay.”
“I’m afraid the Lady wouldn’t like that. No, that’s quite impossible. The deal is quite simply Aiko, you join us or you’ll never see Senzen again…”
