EVOLUTION OF VENOM
Venom has gone through dozen of changes since its conception. It has been a psychopath bent on reclaiming or killing Spiderman. It has been a psychotic, person eating monster. Most recently it has become as hero not only for Earth but the Galaxy. The transition didn’t take place over night though.
The symbiote was first discovered on battleworld. Spiderman had damaged his suit and needed a replacement. He was directed to go to a facility to get a new one. It just so happened Parker accidently went to a prison hold and let the symbiote out. At first it was great for Parker. The black suit he had found provided him with Enhanced abilities above what he already had. His webbing also proved to be stronger. When Parker returned to Earth he learned that the suit was actually a sentient alien symbiote. He found out the symbiote wanted to permanently bond with him and that it had been taking control of his body while he slept, Parker knew he had to get rid of it.
Parker being rid of the the symbiote it searched for a suitable host. It bonded with Eddie Brock, due to his hatred they shared for Spider Man. Brock having terminal cancer, the symbiote was able to keep him alive while being bonded. While bonded with Brock the symbiote began to “speak” in a since. As Brock would talk, he no longer referred to himself as “I” but as “We”. Everything being done was something that both agreed upon and wanted. After a while Brock eventually became uneasy with the Symbiote’s growing bloodlust. He eventually sold the suit when he found out his cancer had returned.
Eventually the symbiote came into contact with Mac Gargan. With this host is when the symbiote truly became something of a monster. For awhile Gargan seemed to have control over the symbiote. As time went on his control began to visibly decline. It actually began to look larger, with a bigger mouth, more teeth, and bigger claws. The symbiotes blood lust became such that it enjoyed eating humans, skrulls, atlanteans, kree, and squirrels. Eventually during the events of Siege the government was able to capture Gargan and extract the symbiote from him.
In the last couple of years the symbiote has made a drastic change. Being used by the government, they used the symbiote coupled with Flash Thompson to work for them and perform dangerous covert missions. While wearing the symbiote it formed legs for Flash which he had previously lost during the Iraq War. Also instead of its previous monter like forms, while on Flash it took the form of body armor. Flash was capable of wearing the suit up to 48 hrs before having to remove it (to keep it from being bonded to it). Eventually while on a mission in the Savage Land, trying to destroy a vibranium mine; Flash became bonded to the symbiote. Thanks to interference by Kraven the hunter, Flash was forced to remain in the suit long past the 48hr mark. At times Flash would exhibit great anger and the symbiote would revert to look like its former forms. Due to this Flash had to keep his emotions in check. Flash served a short stint with the Secret Avengers before more recently joining the Guardians of the Galaxy. While with the Guardians the symbiote lost its body armor look and developed a jagged mouth. In its travels the Guardians encountered the ancestors of the symbiote. They are called Klyntar. They are peaceful symbiotes and they purged the Venom symbiote of its blood lust. Now Venom looks more like the destroyer armor, but black with the spider symbol on it.
