In Spider-Verse, the 'video game' Spider-Man who is native to the Marvel VS Capcom universe was killed by Morlun in one punch (What a mook!). Quite funnily, some kid in a parallel universe is playing Marvel Vs Capcom and coincidently the same thing happens in the game. However, since Spider-Man has appeared in every Capcom-Marvel fighting game with the word 'Marvel' in the title, is it safe to say that now he's dead there will be no more Marvel VS Capcom games?
I mean, the possibility of a sequel was already slim since Capcom recently lost the rights to Marvel characters. They could create a whole new Marvel VS Capcom universe or something, but that'd be quite rubbish.

Ya know, everyone might think that Morlun is an asshole due to his extermination of the Spider-people, but I think this is good. For a long time Marvel has fucked up with the whole 'hundreds' of Spider-men/women/kids/dogs. I think it all started in the Clone Saga. Anyways, when Morlun's done, Earth-606 Spiderman will kill him once and for all, therefore eliminating all possibilities of retconning the normal continuity for plots sake.
First with the Clone Saga, then with the sending him back in time, then with the alternate universe Spiderman, it was just getting out of control.

Interesting point. I didn't borrow to read the latest chapter of Spiderverse because it looked like a waste of money. It seems I was wrong. There are still a lot of alternate Spiderman left. Marvel vs Capcom could easily have one of them replace there Spiderman if they do Marvel vs Capcom 4.
If Marvel were smart they would use this Spiderverse to shake things up for 616 Spiderman. Have him get killed for good finally and another Spiderman replaces him.

The idea is just so cool. I mean, when Dan Slott said EVERY Spider, he meant it! Even Spider-Men from the Sony films (which Marvel couldn't properly show in the books) are at least mentioned to be a part of the 'Spider-Army'. I wonder if he's used the alternate Spiders from other games yet...
I'm quite glad that the 'proper' Earth-616 Spider-Man took centre stage instead of Superior Spider-Man.

I kind of want to see him kill the lego Spiderman from the video games.

It's a bit like the Deadpool Kills series, except, it has actual real consequences.
Also, what's the deal with Dan Slott renaming loads of universes as he pleases? I mean, it doesn't really matter as the characters don't care about official universe designations or anything, but still... It annoys me.

Still rockin' last last gen, Skillz?
Shame if they don't make another one. I played through UMVC3 just last year. Fun game. Jill and Shuma Gorath are lost to any newcomers with the expiration of those licenses, though.. Glad they put 'em on sale before that happened, making me purchase both before it was too late.

I never got either DLC characters. Oh well. Jill looked just like Elena with gunz and I've already played other vs games with Shuma in them, so meh.
Thing is though, this is the reason why I like the Marvel multiverse more than the DC universe at the moment. I don't understand why DC want to limit the number of universes to just 52. What ever happened to the idea of there being INFINITE Earths? While the idea of bringing back the older ones is awesome, I'm starting to get a bad feeling that DC won't actually bring them back and it'll just be a one shot reappearance. While Convergence may not be particularly innovative, I do like the idea of Brainiac trying to bottle up miniature cities like how he originally did in his first appearance. But, as they always do, DC are going to introduce a 'new' and 'original' big bad villain who will cock everything up for no good reason! Also, the plot reminds me of TV Tropes' Massive Multi Fandom RPG, which had a similar premise, but with crossover characters and random events.
Okay, so I know I'm getting off topic here, but I haven't been this exited about comic books in a long time. I always grew up on British comics which are very different from American comics. Outside of 2000AD, we don't have this thing Americans call 'ongoing storylines'.

Elena who? I would have preferred her old look personally. But I like Resident Evil so I had to have her. :/ Shuma I probably could have lived without, but I'm weak when it comes to sales. Figured I'd just get both since I was already buying one. Gave me a reason to run through Arcade mode two more times for their respective endings.

Elena from Street Fighter 3. However, Jill at least seems to be capable of using her arms. XD

I have quite a few theories surrounding the Marvel VS Capcom universe. I think that Spider-Man might have been trapped inside an arcade game, and that's why the foul mouthed kid shows up at the end. Either that, or the kid is from a parallel universe full of people who can see into other universes? Who knows.
Also, I think that the Marvel characters all live on one planet in the MvC universe, while all the Capcom folks live on another, and they both happen to be called Earth. I also think that some Capcom characters are native to the Marvel world. I think that Cyber-Akuma is actually the Akuma from X-Men COTA.
