The worst kind of evil doesn’t come from inasanity, or cruelty, or greed. It comes from belief, and the members of Asura are nothing if not true believers.
Superhumans have gone from myths to a solid chunk of the population in a few decades, and it has caused chaos and chaos cannot be tolerated. The heroes fight some of the symptoms, but they're part of the problem. They're trying to hold onto pre-meta human ideals of morality and society, and that only delays the inevitable and necessary destruction. So, someone has to bring order from the chaos, to wipe the slate clean, and to take the reins afterwards. This is Asura’s plan.
Asura’s founding is layered in murk and shadows. What is known is that it was a reaction to the founding of Aegis. People of power around the world saw that the organization had a chance to finally dominate the world and enforce order, but choose to remain bound by its outdated code. A group of powerful individuals known as The Founders met and created what was then just a nameless network of agents and stringpullers who wanted to see the world order crumble so it could be rebuilt. The names of the original Founders have been forgotten, and their fate is unknown. But they created something bigger then themselves, and Asura still carries on their goals, hoping as they hoped, believing as they believed.
