The static of radios and chirps of flashing cameras infested the large musty storeroom that was now swarming with the blue and rad uniforms of Reach City's Investigation Unit. Amidst the glossy, black shoes that occupied the dusty stain painted floor were numerous oases of blood that leaked from the limp cadavers that garnered the attention of Reach Cities finest.
"What do we have here Quill?" grunted the gruff baritone that was Det.Silva's voice as he strode up to the lanky body of his partner "Looks like a hit from the Argus Cartel."
"Maybe." sighed Det.Quill beneath the vast visage of his partner "Problem is, there are six bodies here and only three of them are Argus affiliated." he passed a small notepad to Silva who winced as the flash of a camera attacked his eyes "There is a civilian and an officer here as well."
"That's five."
"What?"
"You just accounted for five victims. You said there were six bodies." answered Silva.
"Oh yeah. Well one of them isn't dead."
Silva lit a cigar, pierced his fat lips with it and lit it with a zippo lighter "So we have a witness then." he ran his meaty fingers through his greasy brown hair he while passed the notepad back into the gloved palms of Quill.
With a gesture of his head Quill signaled his partner to follow him as he meandered between the patches of cops and corpses. At the back of the storeroom was a bathroom guarded by the weary faces of two officers and a vile stench that assaulted the two detective's senses. Between the flashes of cameras, babbling of police and ambiance of the city outside was the whimpering of some poor creature inside the bathroom.
"The same?" murmured Detective Quill to the sentries at the door. They nodded and he exhaled, conjured a cigarette from his top pocket and turned to Silva who lit it for him. With labored steps he entered the room, the bright lights reflecting on the tawny skin of his naked scalp "Hey Clyve."
"Sitting in the shower of the bathroom was a Reach City officer looking into his hat mumbling and rocking back and forth in a puddle of brown liquid "Where'd it go? wh-wh-where'd it go? Ahh! there it is........oops! it's gone, I wonder where it went."
"The f^ck's wrong with him!?" retorted Silva between puffs of his cigar "Did they inject him with something?"
"No. The shrink, says he 'Experienced extreme and volatile trauma.' so basically, he gone of the deep-end." he sucked on his cigarette and shook his head.
"Who the hell could have done this to a seasoned guy like Clyve"
The sound of heavy footsteps entered behind them prompting the two men to turn around "Well bless my eyes!" exclaimed Quill when his icy blues met the the man who had entered the room "Reach Cities most infamous P.I Donny Crawford. What do you want?"
"The Hounds probably sent him." snapped Quills.
"No. Your boss called me. Said I might be familiar with the guy who he thinks did this." Donny walked passed the detectives and knelt down next to Clyve "Hey officer Clyve."
"I w-w-wonder where went Clyve my boy. Wait a minute! whats that in your pocket!" Clyve spat out the last word as he descended into a violent fit off sobs and laughter. Donny stood up and turned to the detectives "Seems your boss was right." he marched passed the cops as they beckoned at him in tints of annoyance.
"Where are you going! Aren't you supposed to help us! barked Silva.
Donny took out his phone dialed a number and pressed the black rectangle to his ears "Tony; its Crawford. The chief was right." he paused as the voice in the rectangle spoke; "I don't know what the hells happening." replied Donny after the Tony finished speaking "We're going to need him on this one whether we like it or not."
