So Super Smash Bros for 3DS was released in Japan on the 13th, and we now know the full roster, including unlockables. The most controversial character inclusions are Dark Pit from Kid Icarus and Dr Mario, since they are both clones (and Dr Mario hasn't appeared since Melee). What are all your thoughts on the roster?

I'm just mad that the fucking Dog from Duck Hunt is included. Other then that, its fair game.

GLaDOS. You sit in the middle of the stage and fill the room with deadly neurotoxin.

Duck Hunt and Mario were many's first video game experiences, when they bought a NES, including mine. Hell, we may have played that more than Mario, since it's like the only video game I think my old man ever actually enjoyed. I still most likely won't be getting it, though. Don't own a 3DS or WiiU, and don't necessarily need either. Though, I would be interested in a 3DS, if the XL price was right. That one missing piece, of the Kingdom Heart's story, and new Phoenix Wright games, being my main draws. Pisses me the hell off, the new Phoenix Wright is digital only, though..

While Dr. Mario plays as a clone, it's just mario in a different hat. I can somewhat understand that. However, Dark Pit is LITERALLY a clone of Pit. That's just...dumb. He was included in Brawl as an alternate costume to Pit, long before we knew he was a character but the roster is always picked long in advance. I just saw Dark Pit in Palutenia's trailer as nothing more but a cute little cameo appearance. Now I see it was a "subtle" reveal. This is the point where I say Sakari is flaunting his creations.

Dark Pit didn't appear officially until Kid Icarus Uprising. Pit's fallen angel costume actually appeared first!
Dr Mario plays identically to his Melee incarnation (Mario Tornado and all), but his Final Smash is soooo generic. I was expecting Viruses from Dr Mario to attack opponents all over the screen or something. But nope, we get a clone of the Mario Finale but with two giant pills. At least Dark Pit has a unique Final Smash.

Still, he's the only character that is a real clone versus any other character. And I'm sure I could yell and rant about it as much as the next guy, (probably moreso as I've looked into the game as much). I'm gonna have to play it to really get the feel for it.

umm....so....if this is true...holy fucking shit! Quite moving and thought-provoking, but I doubt Sakurai really intended Smash to be so symbolic. I always assumed that Master Hand really was just an omnipotent force with the mind of a nerdy kid who drags characters from their home dimensions and makes them fight, and I also assumed that the arm that shows up in Melee's opening was just him, but maybe it has an identity of its own. Who knows. I only found out a few moments ago that the Marvel VS Capcom universe was officially classed as its own universe in Spider-Verse, and that's cool, but I don't like the idea of Smash Bros being a fake crossover with fake characters.

Yeah, that's the story from the original one. I think it was inside the manual/playbook thing that all games carried.
The giant white hand is the hand of some lonely ass kid who plays with his dolls.

Ryu looks undeniably cool in Smash Bros. His transformation from a traditional 2D fighting game character into a Smasher is almost seamless due to the unique mechanics he has when it comes to his attacks. He looks like the most technical and difficult character to use in the game. He just has so many moves! He even has two Final Smashes!
Roy also looks cool, but I don't care so much for him, to be honest. Many people don't believe that Fire Emblem deserves so many representatives in Smash, but i disagree since it is a pretty old franchise. I may be wrong, but I think they've changed up his moveset a bit to differentiate him from Marth and Lucina. He also has a cool and unique Final Smash. Nice.
