I think the second season got a dub released hella fast, if you wanna check it out. Holy carp, you're right! Saw it just aired in Japan this year, so I figured a dub wasn't even close to being done yet. Guess it must have sold well.

Hype for new DBZ possibly dying a bit.. I forgot about all the voice changes, until I started playing Battle of Z. Gohan and Bulma I knew about, and Gohan's shouldn't even matter with when it will take place, but 18? Voiced by Clinkenbeard? For the love of God, why? Teenage crush... crushed?

I don't know if this belongs here, but I just rewatched Avatar the Last Airbender and Legend of Korra. Some of the best TV I've ever seen in my life.

I think that's one of those either/or scenarios. Whether it's here or in the Cartoon thread, both are probably correct. I should watch them, one of these days.

They're probably some of the most mature, well thought of, beautifully animated cartoons I've ever seen. The writing quality and characterization is better than the vast majority of "adult" shows.

Yeesh, Funi's going all out with this new DBZ movie, eh? First, I kept getting emails about getting it to and then making it to the top 10 in theatrical anime films. And now preorder emails for a collector's edition with a free Shenron t-shirt. That good of a movie?

I'd have to agree with A: tLA and TLoK being two of the best animated series ever made (though Korra almost inexplicably has its share of critics; many of those seem to do so for it not being A: tLA). However, both A: tLA and TLoK are really both American animated series. They may both be heavily anime influenced, but they were both conceived in America.

I thought there was a whole big discussion on this subject, back on EF? And in said discussion, arguments were made that "anime" is not just cartoons made in Japan. Hell, even various stores have it in their anime sections on their respective websites. Amazon has it right at the top.

That is and always will be a subject of debate (which is weird, considering how pointless it really is). There is no concrete answer. It just depends how you use the word "anime", really.

I've always thought of it as "cartoons from Japan." I was just playing the devil's advocate. But I wouldn't say it's pointless, in this discussion. It's whether or not Force posted about Avatar in the right place or not. Since Skillz is a Mod and I'm just a little peon that posts here, he's the one that you should listen to on the matter. But as I already said, I don't think it's out of place in either thread.

To be fair, RWBY is an Anime too from my understanding, though it was made by RoosterTeeth.

Yeah, it's true that in its purest form, the term "anime" refers to all animation. There are certain times, though, where a distinction has to be made between Japanese animation and all others. Our Fan Discussion, for example, has pinned threads for both Anime/Manga and animation from American and elsewhere. A difference has to be determined between the two cultures/genres/etc. so, at the very least, so discussion can be on-topic for both threads, as well as for making profiles in the Database (though the Database's structure may soon change). Otherwise, we'd have to split up anime/manga so that Japanese animation can be discussed in Cartoons, manga in Comics, light novels in Books and Literature, etc. Since there's already been a lot of commenting in each of these topics separately, that might be tough to do at this point.

I think it's an extremely trivial matter, but whatever. Do you want me to talk about how awesome Avatar is here, or in the cartoons thread? It doesn't matter to me.
