Well, I beg to differ, surfer, since I went to a house party the other day and we all spent quite a while talking about Star Wars. It was great! We have very different definitions of parties. When I say "you guys suck at parties", I'm talking college parties and such. No fucking duh all I talk about at family parties is Star Wars.

It wasn't a family party.

Guys can we stop taking the obvious bait? It's just Surfer being Surfer. Just let it go. He's a guy on the internet obviously trying to get a rise out of other people. Just move on and get back on topic.

I was planning on cosplaying Kylo Ren and buying the lightsaber prop provided by LucasArts that lights up and everything, but I haven't done it yet. It's like $200. e.e

I've noticed that Snoke has a striking resemblance to a certain dark sider called Ommin, the King of Onderon from the Legends continuity. Could Snoke possibly be a secret descendant?

I've heard talk of him being reminiscent of Darth Plagueis, as well.

Darth Plagueis is the only canon character out of the two, so if anything, it'd be Plagueis.

Eh, probably. But Plagueis was a Muun, and Snoke doesn't look much like one. Then again, they could have changed Plagueis's species in the new canon, so who knows? Edit: I can't believe that this is an actual theory: youtu.be/jE1_jFEk6b0(Btw, the guy in the video doesn't actually support the theory, obviously, because it's a crap and nonsensical one and in the extremely unlikely circumstance that it turns out to be true, I'll be damned.)

Filming of Episode VIII has started, boys! Rey will actually take a step forward, but we may have to wait for Episode IX for her to actually give him his lightsaber.

Okay, so one thing that has bothered some people is that Rey is overpowered and would be bordering on Mary Sue territory if it weren't for her few negative traits. During the last half of Episode VII, Rey quickly learns the Jedi mind trick, the force pull technique, and some pretty damn good lightsaber skills. Of course, it could be handwaved that since she's the daughter of Luke, whose biological grandfather is the force itself, it only makes sense that she's a natural. But others see it as a plot hole; if a force sensitive person can learn advanced techniques so quickly and fluently, what was the point in the Jedi order in the first place?
Well, here's the thing... The Jedi order has never really been that necessary, as both the films and the old EU showed us. A lot of key points to the Jedi doctrine can easily be seen as morally questionable at best. They did indoctrinate young children and take them away from their parents to be raised as celibate guardsmen whether they liked it or not. As the prequels went on, they showed how decadent and out of touch with reality the Jedi order truly was, with several Jedi turning to evil out of frustration. And history repeated itself in the new canon, what with Luke's attempt at making a new order, implied to be basically the same as the old one, failing miserably because one Jedi, Ben, turned to the dark side.
So, my point is, one could argue that Rey represents how powerful a heroic force user can be without the "dogmatic and narrowminded views of the Jedi" always shackling them down. In the old EU (bits of which are still being incorporated into the new canon), the Jedi didn't start out with any unifying principles. They were just wandering hermits, helping out and inspiring goodness wherever they could. Of course, then some stuff happened, and the Jedi order as we all know it was born. Perhaps the Jedi as a whole could go back to being like that by the end of the sequel trilogy thanks to Rey?

What if Rey isn't related to the Skywalkers lol I think she's either related to the Skywalkers or is simply another chosen one like Anakin was. She was probably birthed by a Jedi mother that died during the Knights Of Ren attack and has no biological father.

I almost thought Rey was overpowered but then I realized that thought never crossed my mind because it's a god damn movie and it was an awesome movie and I was way more concerned about how the character was developed rather where her powers stacked up. Because I'm not a gosh danged nerd.
