Previously: Sent by his Majai leaders, Ardeth Bay went to America to solicit super hero aid in a coming conflict against the forces of
evil. He was confronted by Dao Long Wong who unleashed the Dark Chi Warriors to kill him. Nearly being killed by the mystical
fighters, Ardeth was saved by Daredevil.
The Dark Chi Warriors didn’t exactly gang up on him and Dardevil was thankful and nervous at the same time.
They took turns attacking, but they’re advances were coordinated.
The largest one engaged first. His long-gripped hammer came down with all the unexpected power and Dardevil easily sidestepped it
and got ready to kick his foe in the shin. Before he could, the slimmer one with the staff leaped in and tried to crack the hero across
his horned head.
Daredevil ducked and was unsurprised to hear the whoosh of a hefty leg coming at him. He twisted, grabbed and continued to twist,
taking the large one down with him.
In a crouch, Daredevil evaded several more strikes from the bo fighter and began to wonder where the last one was.
He heard an air slicing hiss and felt the light gust as a giant shuriken zipped past him. In retaliation, Daredevil threw his billy club
and then leaped toward the nearest fire escape. His club ricocheted to his new location and he began to climb up.
That was enough of fighting these guys on their terms. He had to take them to an elevated environment where he had more
experience and they didn’t have the room to gang up on him.
The big one gave chase while the giant shuriken welder threw his weapon again.
It was a bad aim but Daredevil now knew that it was just a distraction. The big one (somehow, without his hammer) was reaching
out for him. Daredevil kicked him in the face. He fell. It was a hurtful fall, but not fatal. When he hit, there was a magical poof and
the warrior vanished.
The other two didn’t miss a beat. They both started up the ladder, just as Dardevil wanted them to. He knew that this fire escape
was in need of repair. The weight of three people was enough to break it from the building’s wall. Daredevil, prepared for the
incident, leaped free before it even began falling.
The remaining Dark Chi Warriors descended rapidly and the fire escape fell on top of them. Double poof.
The fight over, Daredevil saw to Ardeth Bay’s injuries and then got down to asking questions.
Ardeth explained that he was on a mission of importance, hoping to meet with The Avengers or some other super hero organization
to help the Majai fight the forces of evil.
“I know many of the Avengers.” Daredevil told him. “I can get you in touch with them.”
Even as he was talking, Dardevil radared one more hostile. He didn’t know who he was but he was hiding and watching, probably
listening to. That is why he so openly declared that he knew The Avengers and was able to contact them.
Such a statement would either scare the hidden man off, giving him pause knowing that The Avengers were about to get involved.
Or the information would set him to attack, to keep the premier super hero team from learning of his evil scheme.
Dao Long Wong was considering what spell would contain the Majai and the vigilante long enough for him to finish them.
But as he was deciding, a great burst of wind whipped through the area. Confused at first, Dalong Wong understood what was
happening when the wind god, Fujin appeared beside Ardeth and Daredevil.
“Heroes of the light.” The deity addressed them boldly. “Evil abounds. Will you stand with me in fighting it?”
Ardeth didn’t hesitate. “I will.”
But Daredevil gave a different answer. “I already am. Hell’s Kitchen needs me more than some mystical war.”
“Very well,” Fujin understood his point. “Majai,” he regarded Ardeth Bay. “Allies await my return. Let us be off.”
Another burst of wind, and Daredevil was left alone. The suspect who had remained hidden had also gone away. With his super
hearing, Daredevil heard a disturbance a block away and took off to investigate.
* *
Fujin and Ardeth Bay arrived among a group. No one seemed amazed at the gust of wind and the two new bodies suddenly in their
midst.
It was a complete military base but it was littered with a hodge podge of individuals. Soldiers of different military organizations
trained and marched. Costumed men and woman loitered and conversed. It looked like chaos, but there had to be some kind of
order that Ardeth didn’t see.
Fujin brought Ardeth up to small group.
“This is Ardeth Bay- a Majai from Egypt. He has just joined us.”
They offered bright welcomes and began introducing themselves.
Fujin made a special task of bringing a blonde woman over.
“This is Sonya Blade. One of the generals of these forces.”
“Glad to have you aboard.” Sonya never smiled at him. As Ardeth looked at her, he saw a troubled look in her eyes.
“You’re a Majai.” Sonya said more as a statement. “We were going to approach your order but something stopped us. I’m sorry to
have to tell you this, but all of the Majai have been killed.”
Ardeth was stunned.
His speechless mouth invited her to explain how this could be.
“It’s been investigated. The Lin Kwei ninja clan conducted the massacre.”
Seeing the weakness in the knees, Sir Justin- the Shining Knight grabbed him and held him up.
“I can only imagine your pain, friend Bay, but know this. Their deaths will be avenged. We will stand with you and hopefully, you will
find a new brotherhood with us.”
A man approached his pace urgent.
“Sir Justin. You have a mission.”
The Shinning Knight stiffened. “I am ready.” He looked at Ardeth just as he began to walk away.
“Majai, there is no greater remedy to sorrow than battle. Join me and we will have an abundant dosage.”
Ardeth pursed his lips in consideration. “I will join you.”
Sir Justin mounted his steed Winged Victory and invited the Majai to climb aboard as well.
The wings confused him but Ardeth was a fine rider. He mounted and then touched the wings curiously.
“He likes you.” Sir Justin smiled. Winged Victory doesn’t allow most to touch his feathers.
Along with several others, the Stargate transported them to a forested environment. The place looked peaceful, but if they had been
sent here, the evil abided.
It was agreed to split up so The Shining Knight and Ardeth Bay along with Winged Victory trotted west.
They walked upon the scene of a dark knighted man knelt down in a clearing. Only when they came just outside of arms reach did
the squatted man raise and face them.
“Warriors of light, I assume.” He said with a rumbling voice. “I was warned to expect you.”
“Then you should be prepared to die.” Sir Justin climbed off of his horse and held his sword in front of him.
Ardeth Bay stepped beside him, while Winged Victory held back, giving them room to fight.
A pair of henchmen came to Koragg’s side just as Ardeth had done for Sir Justin.
His own frightening sword in his hand, Koragg the Knight Wolf stood his ground and welcomed the heroes’ charge.
Fight Parameters:
Battle to the death. The Shining Kight will tackle Koragg while Ardeth Bay fights the two henchmen.
The voting is limited to Shining Knight and Koragg but I wanted to keep Ardeth in the story without doing a separate fight for him.
