Angel Grove, California, Earth, 2015:
In a dusty warehouse in an abandoned city Earth's last defenders were assembled. The last survivors of a noble lineage that had been choked out by the hands of evil. The last of the Power Rangers. The Rangers had fallen and the Earth, as well as the universe as a whole has been divided up by competing evil factions.
"I still don't like this plan, it's too risky. There's no way you'll be able to break the defenses of Astronema's fortress." Xander Bly, Green Mystic Force Ranger said in his thick Australian accent, "We need to find an easier target or better yet just go with plan B."
"I understand your concern Xander but we're not even sure plan B will work. You and Lauren have been working on it for months and even now it's still only theoretical. Breaking into Astronema's fortress is the best shot we have. She's the second strongest of the warlords, we know she has a time machine and that she's planning to use it against Ransik to usurp his position as top dog." Adam Park, Green Zeo Ranger replied.
"I wouldn't so much call it breaking in as assaulting," Lauren cut in. She was the Red Samurai Ranger and head of the Shiba clan of Samurai, "after all you're taking the Zeo Megazord."
"I know, but we can't sneak in so a frontal assault is our only chance." Adam said.
"It's suicide mate, there's no way you'll ever be able to breach her defenses!" Xander protested.
"Park knows the risks, but he has to be the one to go back. His power is the only one that won't be in use in the early parts of the war and he knows the area in the time period better than any one of us. We all need to be prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice if we are going to have any hope of winning this war." Jen Scotts, Pink Time Force Ranger stepped out of the shadows of the corner, and joined the conversation for the first time. Jen was in her early fifties and greying at the temples.
Adam glanced at the time traveler. Like all of them she looked so tired. More than any of them however, she just looked defeated. She tried to put on a tough persona but it didn't fool Adam even for a moment. She blamed herself for not stopping Ransik's rise when she and the Time Force Rangers had followed him from the year 3000. Now, even if they won the war she would have no home to return to, the future she'd come from would be gone, even if they stopped this hellish timeline from coming to pass.
"We could always try plan B. I really thi k Xander and I have the bugs worked out, or at least minimized the risks. Granted we can't test it but..." Lauren started before Jen cut her off.
"I'm from the future, I know technology works. I don't have much faith in your esoteric magic mixing. I only agreed to it's use as a last resort. An absolute last resort." Adam opened his mouth to protest her rudeness, but they all new getting into an argument with Jen was an exercise in futility
"So when do we go?" Adam asked.
"We attack at dawn, Xander and Lauren will stay here and wait for you to return in case this fails."
"And if Adam doesn't make it back?" Lauren asked.
"If the attack fails and I don't make it back them we've lost. Adam said with grim finality.
Jen sighed as she and Adam took off toward Astronema's fortress in the Zeo Megazord. This was her final gambit. She knew they were running out of time. Time. That's how all this started, time. It all started when Ransik killed Alex and went back in time. The mutant bastard had known what he was doing when he chose his destination.
1993 Angel Grove. The time of the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. He'd destroyed them and thus caused a chain reaction that had destroyed the legacy of the Power Rangers and doomed the universe. She hated Ransik, no hate was far to weak a word. He'd destroyed everything that she'd known and loved.
"Looks like Astronema knows we're here." Adam's voice drew Jen out of her musings. She could focus on the past later. Now it was time to focus on the present. They had to get that time machine.
"Of course she knows, it's not like you can sneak up on someone in a robot the size of a building." She was in no mood for wisecracks today.
"They've launched Quadrofighters" Adam reported. The two Rangers looked on to behold a sea of enemy fighters emerging from the castle that the self-proclaimed Queen of Evil resided in. The things we as thick as the locusts of the biblical plague. Still they drove the Megazord forward as millions of laser blasts like pinpricks. Using all the weapons available to them they cut a bloody swath through the enemy, even as their shields were dropping.
"Jen the Megazord can't take much more of this!" Adam warned.
"We keep going she barked. Then the fortress's main weapon fired, a giant proton cannon. The beam struck the Zeo Megazord dead center in the chest sending it reeling backward. All around the Rangers consoles began to explode. This alone wouldn't have been enough to end the machine, but the remaining fighters kept up their attack and thus the Megazord fell.
Astronema watched the the Zeo Megazord exploded. The Queen of Evil smirked. The Rangers were fools if they thought they could challenge her at her own base. Well they were paying the price for their stupidity now weren't they? This victory would give her a prestige boost, Ransik had been hunting the remaining Rangers for years and hadn't been able to defeat them. Very soon she would take her rightful place as to warlord.
"My Queen, the Rangers may have survived the destruction of their Megazord, "Her second in command and surrogate father Ecliptor said, "Should I order the fighters to make another pass?"
"No Ecliptor, I'll take care of the Rangers myself."
As Adam laid in the smoking remains of the Zeo Megazord only one thought was going through his mind. "How did it all go so wrong?" His body was wracked with pain, but he had to move, he had to get out of here. He wanted to check on Jen but he knew he didn't have the time, the mop up crew would be here soon and she wouldn't want him to risk the back up plan for her sake.
The heat of many fires warped the air as he struggled to get up. Suddenly in a beam f purple energy she appeared, the owner of this fortress: Astronema. The leather bound Queen strode toward him slowly.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here. It seems I've caught myself a Power Ranger. What should I do with you?" Her tone was almost seductive as she leveled her staff at him.
"Well shit, I guess this is it." Adam closed his eyes and waited for his inevitable death.
"Time for Time Force!" Jen called. Adam opened his eyes to find a now morphed Pink Ranger tackling Astronoma, knocking the Queen's aim and subsequent blast off target. How she had found the energy to move like that was beyond him. "Adam go!" I'll take care of this!"
"No Jen, I can help you!" He had a sinking feeling the if he left she wouldn't make it out of this fight alive.
"No, you go back and join the others, enact the back up plan, that's an order Park!" Jen backed. Just then Astronoma knocked the Pink Ranger off of her and stood back up.
Adam nodded, as much as he hated leaving a friend behind, he knew she was right. Jen would sacrifice anything and everything to make sure that this horror didn't come to pass. He had to honor that. "It's Morphin' Time! Zeo Ranger IV: Green!" The morphing having restored Adam to full health he took off running back toward the hideout. He just hoped Jen could buy him enough time. It would take him a good ten minutes to get back on foot.
So Astronoma vs. a Morphed Jen. No outside interference. Both are willing to use lethal force. Astronoma must kill Jen. Jen must last ten minutes against Astronema so Adam can escape.
