Seeing how we often talk about Godzilla in the various medium threads, I figured that a discussion thread solely dedicated to the giant radioactive dinosaur would be nice, so here it is.
I fairly recently became a huge fan of Godzilla and his exploits after watching King Kong vs. Godzilla for the first time, and ever since, I've been hooked (though unbelievably enough, I still have yet to see the 2014 American film*). James Rolfe's 2008 Monster Madness is a decent starting point for those who are new to the franchise, even though there are a few inaccuracies and wrong implications (e.g. Godzilla is not indestructible, nor does he breathe fire, etc.).
I always tend to like things that feature loads of characters, so it's only natural that I would like the Godzilla franchise because there are so many cool and inspired Kaiju designs featured in the Godzilla franchise, and not just in the films. Various monsters created solely for the comic book and video game adaptations are great as well. Hell, even the unmade monsters that never ended up appearing in the films like the Gryphon are amazing. While I think that Godzilla is the best, Ghidorah, whether in King, Kaiser, Orochi or Death incarnation, is a very close second, and Toho's King Kong is probably third. Above is a poll in which you can vote for your favourite giant beast in the series that is not Godzilla!
After the 2014 film, the recent PS4 game adaptation, and the latest comic book series by IDW called Godzilla in Hell, Godzilla is still fresh in some peoples' minds, and more people are being introduced to the beloved character as time goes by. He is truly an icon of cinema, standing alongside the likes of Darth Vader and King Kong as one of the all-time greats, and he will hopefully never, ever be forgotten.
*scratch that. I have now, and it's good in my opinion.
