After dodging Goro's attacks until he was bored, Dante countered by stabbing at Goro's chest. The Shokan prince caught the flat of the massive sword with all four of his hands, stopping it just as it pierced his skin. Dante simply smiled and held his sword in place with one hand, while grabbing one of his guns with the other. Dante began shooting the hilt of his sword, stacking the bullets impossibly perfect on each other. Each shot forced the sword deeper and deeper into Goro's chest. The pain eventually forced him to let go, and Dante thrust his sword through him, then sliced upward; cutting Goro's torso in half from the chest up. FATALITY!"You guys done yet?" Dante asked, as he turned to the others covered in Goro's blood. "Almost!" Galen said, shouting over the fire fight happening just 50 feet away from his own battle as his force powers clashed with Ermac's soul abilities. Starkiller knew if he could just get an opening, he could end this with a few strokes of his saber. That opening was created by Dante, who was tired of waiting, and shot Ermac through the hands. As the warrior collective recoiled in pain, Starkiller lunged at Ermac and stabbed him directly through the face with his lighsaber. As the plasma blade passed through his opponent's skull the heat melting his skin. FATALITY!"I didn't need your help," Galen said, as his red coated ally approached. Dante shrugged, "I wasn't doing anything better, thought I'd speed things up." Turning his attention, he called out to Lady, "How're you holding up?" "Don't even think about it," Lady warned, taking cover behind a car, "This is my fight." The human gunslinger peeked out, and saw what appeared to be an opening. She rolled out from her cover to open fire, but Erron Black was too quick on the draw. He shot a bullet at Lady, with her name carved in the side, that would have spelled the end for her had Dante not taken her advice. The half demon jumped between the two and sliced the bullet in half. "Now, how to finish you," Dante pondered. "Screw this," Lady said, taking her rocket launcher and firing. The explosive was headed right toward Dante, who cocked his head and jumped backward. Landing on the rocket he road it through the air like a surf board, a sight that distracted Erron Black up to the point where Dante jumped off and send the rocket sailed directly at him. In the wake of the explosion, what was once an outworld bounty hunter was now a mangeld mass of blood, flesh, and fried organs. FATALITY!"That was easy," Dante said. His friends simply stared daggers through him in response, until Lady said, "We had it handled." "Whatever you say." Galen shook his head, "Somehow I missed all of this, old friend." "Alright, what's the plan now?" Dante asked. "We were headed to the Anime District to save you," Galen said, "But we can skip that part. Now we have to figure out how to get the rest of our team together." "We had more partners in the Video Game district," Dante said, "Raziel, the Prince..." "What do you mean, had?" Galen asked. "I waited too long to make my move; I figured you'd come to me with the plan and tell me who to shoot. Whoever did all this had them relocated, like they tried with me. It was on the news; the Prince was taken to the Pop Culture section. I'm not sure where Raziel went, he didn't go down without a fight but hasn't been heard from since." "I see," Galen said. Before the three could finish planning, the doors burst open on the Dimensional Transit center behind them. The three of them turned to see a pale Spartan Warrior. "The creator of this world has promised me the heads of the Olympians in return for your lives. No face me, and die." Dante smiled, "Yeah, no thanks. I can't die, no one else can make a coat look this good." "Your brother looks exactly like you," Galen pointed out, before answering Kratos's challenge with a blast of force lightening. The God slayer blocked the attack with his Golden Fleece and sent it back, hitting Lady and shocking her to near unconciousness. "Damn it!" Dante shouted, catching his friend. "He's strong," Galen pointed out, "Got a plan?" Dante looked to Kratos, his eyes staring through him, "Get Lady out of here, make sure she's alright." Galen nodded, seeing his friend's commitment to fighting this one alone. Galen took Lady and started off with her. "No one escapes the death I bring," Kratos said, throwing one of his chain blades toward Galen. Dante blocked the attack with his sword. As the chain wrapped itself around the blade, Dante stabbed his sword into the ground in order to try an pin Kratos in place. " Now you've really crossed the line," Dante warned, "Let's rock!"

A fight that's been done quite a few times, but I figure this is much more even in order to make up for the one sidedness of the previous match.

I don't think anyone could really take Kratos if he had all of his powers and weapons. That's what? 6 games of shit he has had. We're talking Blade of Olympus, his stone that can alter time, his numerous elemental powers from both the Gods and the Titans. Even with all Dante has, he doesn't stand a chance of winning.

I'm not debating since it's my own match but I know the equipment well and can give my own detailed break down of how I see them stacking up if you like.

I'll admit I know less about Dante than I do Kratos. Only played 3 DMC games compared to playing all of the GOW games. Not sure if the stone part is true cause I remember using it on broken bridges and statutes. Pretty sure they weren't divine in any way. But knowing a bit more about what Dante has would be helpful. Been awhile since I've played any of the DMC series.

Admittedly, I didn't realize all the games Kratos had been in and was referring to his trilogy when I was making this match. I forgot about the 4th main game and didn't consider the PSP versions. I'll include Ascension in my analysis, but if anyone wants to bring something up from the PSP games feel free. I will also disregard weapons and powers that are redundant or made useless by stronger versions in each series I will also post this in two parts as it's very long. That said, here we go.
Dante
Stats: Strength: Super, undefined limits Healing: Rapid, potentially fast enough to heal mid slice Speed: Close range Bullet Dodger
Powers: "Dash" - An increase in Dante's already impressive speed in up to three short bursts. "Air Trick" - A burst of speed, resembling teleportation, allowing Dante to vanish then reappear in close combat. "Sky Star" - Using demon energy, Dante can summon a platform under his feet allowing him to jump off "double jump" "Royal Guard" - A power that allows Dante to block incoming attacks and converts the damage into energy which stores inside himself "Release" - After storing energy from his Royal Guard, Dante can unleash it in the form of an energy wave which can be built up over time. "Ultimate" - Dante can also convert the stored energy into life energy to supplement his already incredible healing powers. "Dreadnaught" - A form similar to his Devil Trigger, Dante can use the stored energy to become impervious to attack until the energy is depleted "Quicksilver" - After defeating Geryon the Timesteed, Dante gained the power to temporarily slow time around him in short bursts "Doppleganger" - A shadow demon, named Doppleganger the Death Void, bonded with Dante and he can summon this demon as an exact copy of himself to fight along side for a short peroid of time.
Weapons: -"Rebellion" - Dante's main sword, a massive Claymore, which is directly connected to his demonic energy. Dante can channel his powers through the sword and send them at his enemies in the form of an energy burst. He can also throw the sword, like a boomerage, and it will keep spinning as it slices his enemies demonstrating some degree of telepathic control over the blade. -"Agni and Rudra" - A unique looking pair of scimitars with serrated edges, the pommels of the swords are the heads of the demon brother's Dante defeated to obtain them - making them his only truly sentient swords weapons. Agni, the red sword, controls the element of fire, while Rundra controls the element of wind, allowing the elemental attacks to be shot forth from the blades. The two elements can be combined to create a powerful flaming tornado which will engulf the enemy. -"Alastor" - incorrectly dubbed "the Thunder Sword", this weapon functions much the same as Rebellion but with the added power to control Lightening. -"Cerberus" - The soul of the hellhoud himself, this weapon is tripartite nunchaku that can summon ice and freeze enemies with it's attacks -"Gilgamesh" (Beowulf, Ifrit) - Dante has three Gauntlet weapons. Ifrit is a simple pair of Gauntlets allowing Dante to control fire. Beowulf is a pair of Gauntlets and Grieves that allow Dante to fire blasts of light that explode upon impact. Gilgamesh is arguable the most powerful of this weapon type, taking the form of Gauntlets, Grieves, a Mask, and Back armor, which enhance Dante's physical stats as well as allowing him to fire blasts of concitrated demonic energy. Gilgamesh also comes with drills on the arms and saws on the legs which can extend and further damage his enemies. All attacks from there weapons can be charged to cause further damage, but Dante is left vulnerable while charging. -"Lucifer" - Perhaps my personal favorite weapon, this Devil Arm "takes the form of a skull shaped backplate from which two wing shaped sheathes extend outward" and can summon an infinite number of swords which Dante can wield or manipulate telepathically to stab or throw at enemies. These blades will explode after a short time or on command by Dante, usually by clapping or throwing the rose from his mouth (which also appears with the weapon). The swords will also begin exploding once Dante summons 15 blades. -"Nevan" - A weapon that takes the form of a guitar that can summon blasts of lightening and bats as it's played. It's second form is a scythe form allowing Dante to use it as a melee weapon as well. -"Pandora" - Presumed to the Devil May Cry version of Pandora's box, this weapon is a briefcase that's said to be able to take "666 different forms". The ones we know of are, a giant bow-gun capable of firing explosive projectiles, a bazooka that fires more powerful rockets, a laser canon that can devastate waves of minor enemies, a Gatling gun, a flying missile base that can fire homing missiles, and a giant shuriken that can be thrown and returns to Dante. Also, Dante can simple open the Pandora Breifcase and cause massive damage to anyone in the path of the light that it emits. -"Ebony and IVory" - Dante's standard guns, a pair of twin handguns. They never run out of ammo as they are fueled by Dante's demonic energy. With them Dante is skilled enough to shoot bullets out of the air, and they can be charged to temporarily deliver more powerful shots. -"Coyote-A" - Dante carries a shotgun in every game, but this is the only named one to appear in the series. It's capable of firing normal or charged shots. Dante possess the skill the spin it around his body, like nunchucks, while firing to hit enemies on all sides. He will also charge his enemy and "stab" them with the gun before firing. -"Artemis" - A gun that attaches to Dante's arm and fires arrows of demonic energy. It can also fire balls of energy that hover in the air and lock on to a target before shooting toward them as arrows. -"Spiral" - An anti-material rifle that fires powerful shots, capable of ricocheting off surfaces to accumulate power before hitting enemies (which, admittedly, doesn't like up with physics but whatever). -"Sword of Sparda" - "Throughout the series, the sword is recognized as a source of god-like power" and is embedded with the power of Sparda himself. This sword is massive, with a blade extending all the way down and acting as a guard to the handle. This weapon can be used in all the same ways as Rebellion, but also has the ability to shoot fire balls and summon a spectral dragon to attack his enemies in one massive strike.
Devil Trigger: Awakening his full demonic power, Dante can temporarily transform himself into his Devil Trigger state. This increses all his abilities, including his healing powers. The form changes in response to which Devil Arm he's using at the time as the soul of the weapon manifests in him while he is transformed, and in some states Dante is even given massive wings allowing him to fly. The most noteworthy of his various forms is his Majin transformation. His Majin form, or Desperation Devil Trigger, makes him invulnerable to harm, allows him to fly, fire blasts of light, dark, and fire, and gives him two red blades protruding from his arms.
Weaknesses: His powers are tied to the energy in his blood. The longer a battle goes, the slower he heals as more blood is lost. It could be inferred that this loss extends to all powers, including his immense strength as well, though that's not confirmed. Dante is also a show off, and can't resist using overly flashy moves in an attempt to humiliate his opponents, although he has been known to take fights more seriously when he recognizes an opponent who matches him in ability.

I will try my best to be as detailed with this one as with Dante's, but I know more about Dante than Kratos. And while I used the wiki to help fill in the gaps for most, some information about Kratos may be lacking in anything outside of the information I found. Some things listed as "magic" on the wiki I listed under "weapons" since they fall more in line with that in this setting. Kratos Stats: Strength - Godlike. While Dante's limits aren't clearly defined, Kratos displays more impressive feats of strength on a more consistent basis, rarely seen struggling to lift anything or over power even the largest of enemies. Healing - Kratos demonstrates no substantial healing abilities, I assume there's an increase above normal human healing powers however. Speed - Athletic. Kratos, without power ups, seems to be in top shape but displays no notably inhumane speed feats. Durablity - I didn't include this stat for Dante, because outside of his powered up forms there's little to note aside from it being obviously above human levels, but Kratos seems to compensate for lack of healing with increased resistance to damage. While Kratos couldn't shrug of Dante's weapons, Dante will find Kratos harder than most to subdue with his physical attacks. Powers: Gods -Aries: In ascension Kratos can embed his blades with fire, and create powerful explosions. -Posiden: First appearing as the ability for Kratos to summon a storm and shock nearby enemies, Kratos is given also given power over ice and can create shockwaves in Ascension, with this power he can use his blades to create an electrical vortex attack. -Zeus: Zeus grants Kratos the power of lightning bolts, which can be hurled rapidly at enemies. He is also granted the ability to channel lightning through his blades. -Hades: Kratos can summons souls from the underworld to attack his enemies. He can also summon a wall of souls to suffocate his enemies. Titans -Cronos: Kratos gained the ability to create blue orbs of lightening that can shock nearby enemies for a short time before their core exploded, causing further damage. -Atlas: Atlas granted Kratos the power of the Atlas Quake, creating shockwaves whenever Kratos his the ground, further strikes cause more tremors as well as kicking up boulders to strike his enemy. Other -Army of Sparda: Kratos can summon a phalanx of his fallen Spartan brothers to form a shield around him. The Spartans then stab their spears outward. This ability can also cause arrows to rain down the the battlefield, creating a near impossible to dodge offensive attack out of a defensive ability. Weapons-Blades of __: For the purposes of this fight, Kratos will be using the blades of exile as they seem to be the most powerful incarnation of the his chain blades. They grant him the ability to summon his Army of Sparda attack, while the chains allow him to throw the blades out and use them for ranged attacks as well as holding the blades for close range combat. -Blade of Atrimis: A large sword Kratos summons by smashing his "Blades of ___" together. This sword has no ranged abilities, but it more powerful than his other blades. -Medusa Head: Severed head of Medusa which can turn enemies caught in it's gaze to stone allowing Kratos to easily shatter them. Although, if Kratos takes too long in attacking, they seem to be able to break out of the effect. -Barbarian Hammer: The hammer is slow but powerful, with spikes protruding from the sides. Beyond it's melee uses, it can act as another way for Kratos to summon souls. The downside of this weapon is that it's heft slows Kratos, making dodging more difficult. -Spear of Destiny: A quick spear, made of a purple crystal, which can fire sharp projectiles. -Typhon's Bane: A bow that Kratos tore from the eye of the Titan, Typhon's Bane can fire Air-rows (arrows made of air) to push enemies back and cause some damage. Kratos can draw the bow string back longer to charge the attack and fire more powerful gusts, capable of launching the enemy into the air. -Oath Stone of Orkos: This allows Kratos to summon a clone of himself, but unlike Dante's dopple ganger, this clone seems to be less autonomous - if anyone wants me to clarify that claim I will later. - Golden Fleece: Kratos's shield, that allows him to block incoming attacks and send projectiles to the sender. - Icarus Wings: Ripped from Icarus himself, these wings allow Kratos to glide but he's too heavy to achieve actual flight. - Claws of Hades: Chain scythes, which function much like his Blades, but also allow Kratos yet another method of summoning souls. Unlike other soul sommons, which appear as either balls of light or traditionally ghostly warriors, Kratos can summon monsters such as Minotaur or Gorgons to attack his enemies. Full list here- Nemean Cestus: Kratos's Gaunlets which take the form of a lion's head. These weapons give Kratos vastly increased strength. The lion's heads can extend with chains for ranged attacks. They can also create a powerful shockwave attack called the Nemean Roar. - Nemesis whip: Potentially irrevelivent with the power Zeus granted Kratos to channel lightening through his blades, these weapons act like his Blades of Exile but with an electric strike. But, maybe that can be added to make these double electric? I think these are also the fastest of Kratos's weapons. - Bow of Apollo: A bow that functions similarly to Typhoon's Bane, but with fire arrows rather than wind. - Head of Helios: What does Kratos carry around so many severed heads? That's weird. Anyway, it fires light and can temporarily blind enemies. - Boots of Hermes: These boots greatly increase Kratos's speed, allowing him to run up walls. - Blade of Olympus: The blade with the power to kill a god, this weapon is by far the most powerful in Kratos's aresnal. It can fire blasts of diving energy as well as act as a fast and powerful sword. I couldn't find anything if it's god killing power directly applies, as the method is unknown. Potentially, it could cancel healing abilities allowing it to kill gods, which would make the battle harder for Dante or it's affect it only on divine beings, making it seem like just another weapon to Dante. Rage Modes: Kratos, throughout the series unlocks multiple "Rage" modes. During Rage of the Gods, Kratos is much more powerful and resistant to damage as well as giving him a powerful field attack and infinte repeated use of his magical attacks for the duration. Rage of the Titans is a more powerful form, making Kratos immune to damage while active and granting him even more bonus magics, Promeathus Flare, Torment, and Rage, which are all radial attacks of various degrees of power. Rage of Sparda makes Kratos stronger, and seems to be the only one which also increases his speed. After reviewing all of them, Rage of the Titans seems to be the one Kratos would stick to. Much like Devil Trigger, these Rage modes are temporary and require a recharge period. Time Manipulation: I wanted to make special mention of this, as it was brought up specifically. Kratos has two amulets that give him some degree of control of time. The amulet of Fate does slow down time, but requires a Statue of fate to use. His other amulet is the Amulet of Uroborus, which seems to be able to rewind or fast forward time on a specific target. This could be used to cause enemies to decay by speeding up time for them. No word on how this would affect Dante given his healing powers. Weaknesses: Kratos's weaknesses are hard to pin down. Against Dante, Kratos likely has the disadvantage when it comes to speed and reaction time - his boots would only serve to make their running speed on par with one and other I believe. His main weakness is his pride and anger, which combined can cause him to rush forward without thinking and create openings for opponents or fall prey to their plans.

Looking at these two side by side, I see they have a lot of similar powers and abilities and a lot of counters for one and other. This battle will go for quite a while, with Kratos's strength advantage and Dante's speed advantage being marginal at best. Neither one are particularly good at long term planning, but both will be quick to capitalize on an opening. But I hope I provided enough information for people to figure this out on their own.

Kratos has more abilities at his disposal then Dante even at full power would find hard to counter like Hades power to summon souls from the underground, claws of Hades which can even summon monsters like Minotaur or Gorgons, Zeus's lightening which is very powerful, Blade of Olympus which could literally end the battle very quickly if it works on Dante, Posiden's ability to cause storms which would make it hard for Dante to get there Kratos, and so much more. Kratos may have pride and anger but he has proven he can keep it in check for big battles like this. Krato's ruthlessness, experience with fighting powerful beings, and his various abilities that would make this fight so much harder for Dante puts my vote in his favor.
This is one fight where one of them is definitely not walking away.

Thanks for the stats list Tom. Helps to look at it this way.
Neither of this guys will be pulling punches for sure. They're likely to destroy a good bit of the section before one of them wins, but I think baller had a point about Kratos having abilities Dante couldn't easily counter. Not sure how Dante could counter being turned to stone.
Another plus for Kratos is that Dante will get weaker as the battle continues due to losing so much blood. Which will likely happen when you fight Kratos.
My vote is still for Kratos, but it definitely could go either way.

I'm gonna come in after voting is closed with my match analysis. I'm admittedly bias, but there are some factors that I think are being over looked. What I will say for the Blade of Olympus that I think I was a little unclear about my thoughts on.
The Blade of Olympus gives Kratos a way to reliably kill Dante, yes. My only question is it's method of bringing down gods. If it negates healing power, then Dante's pretty much screwed if he gets hit with it. If, however, it's just divine magic capable of killing a god, then Dante's healing is still in play. A sword of that power will do more damage than a regular sword and kill Dante much faster than, say his blades of Exile, but won't guarantee victory on it's own.
I also think it's likely that the Sparda sword is it's equal in terms of power. They seem to have a lot of similar abilities and functions; both are massive swords that can fire energy blasts (demonic and divine respectively). The Blade of Olympus was able to kill gods, while the Sword of Sparda was the weapon capable of bringing down Mundus - who is essentially the devil.

Another plus for Kratos is that Dante will get weaker as the battle continues due to losing so much blood. Which will likely happen when you fight Kratos. Can't the same be said about Kratos? The more the battle rages, more damages he takes the weaker he'll get, the closer to death he'll get, I can be mistaken but doesn't Kratos at full power can lose his blood? Like his god blood, the more damage he takes more god blood he loses, and the more he weakens? Also how would Kratos fair being hit with Demonic Bullets? Rockets? And the like? I assume he could tank some normal ones but a lot of Dante's attack like that are filled with Demonic energy which Increases their strength. Kratos I think just raw strength wise has the edge on Dante but Dante's faster specially in Devil Trigger. Does Dante have Yamato Tom?

Rage of the Titans does not make Kratos invincible, it just removes knockback damage as a factor, giving the appearance of invincibility. Rather, it's more like the berserker mode for Guts. Rage of Sparta, however, does make Kratos completely invincible to damage. I like the extensive research done here, I just wanted to point that out. I'll have to really think about this one, considering Dante is taking this fight seriously. A serious Dante is essentially Vergil!
Hm. I have to acknowledge that Dante likely has an edge in terms of speed, but that makes me remember that Kratos has a number of area effect attacks and light-based attacks that can offset many speed disadvantages. Kratos' reaction time is sufficient to deal with the likes of Hermes, so I think the demigod could probably counter many of the Dark Knight's advances. The question becomes how will Kratos hold up against the number(?) of attacks that will land? It depends on how durable Kratos is (at the moment, with Rage modes kept in mind) and what type of attacks Dante can manage to land.
And while Kratos is many times more durable, Dante has a killer healing factor. It's true that Dante can heal from cut's mid slice, but with the size of Kratos' weapons, Dante could literally lose limbs. However, if Dante can (and probably will) land blows, Kratos won't be healing from them. At best, he can minimize the damage (assuming he isn't in rage mode and has failed to block said attacks using the fleece).
This fight is sounding less and less like a battle and more and more like a complex set of algorithms that would take a team of NASA scientists to find a solution to. Seriously, there are so many mathematical equations to balance here it's ridiculous. I wonder if turning this into a math problem would help though... I'm very tempted.
