Previously: David Palmer went to LeRoy Green’s dojo to recruit him. They were attacked by ninja and although LeRoy fought them off, Palmer
was severely injured.
He looked upon David Palmer with a sad frown. The former President was still closer to dying than living but the doctors were making progress.
Another person quietly came up behind him. He felt the presence in the form of the excited electricity of all of the people recognized the
newcomer.
“Nick. How’s it going?”
Hearing his voice was a joy.
“Mr. Marshal!” Nick Fury said excitedly.
President James Marshal preceded David Palmer in the White House. Like his successor, he was a one term President, but his claim to fame was
the incident with the Russian terrorist that had successfully hijacked Air Force One with the Marshal and the first family on board.
Because of that incident, Marshal became very focused on security and law enforcement. When he got out of office, he got really serious.
“No change?” Marshal asked of Palmer.
“The same.” Fury huffed.
“You told him not to go on his own didn’t you?” Marshal already knew the answer.
“Sure did. You know the man.” Fury huffed again.
“Yeah,” Marshal breathed heavily too. “I do. So where are we at?”
“Getting ready to send some people out.”
The change in subject brought both men out of their depressive slump.
Marshal went with Fury to see who was on it.
He was pleased to see Judge Dredd and Judge Anderson. The judges were his creation as a special response regiment for extreme domestic
justice.
Detective Del Spooner had been recruited by Marshal too. He had done such an impressive job handling the robot crisis. Additionally, Matt
Parkman was present. He was a psi who had served in the police force but the development of his powers hindered his progress. He still hadn’t
done much in this organization yet either.
Fury pointed. “Spooner, you and Parkman get first dibs. We suspect it was The Hand but I think they may have been freelancers or renegades
at best. That means somebody else wanted Palmer put down.
“I know what you’re thinking Dredd. But I want you and Anderson on something else.”
Spooner and Parkman walked toward the exit, their bickering getting underway immediately.
“You better not read my mind.” Spooner growled.
“I’ll read your mind if I want to read your mind.” Parkman beefed.
“You better not read my mind.” Spooner repeated.
“Quit thinking so loud and maybe I can hear something other than your wisecracks.”
Fury rolled his one good eye at President Marshal as they listened to the argument all the way down the hall.
Spooner and Parkman followed up on what information they had on The Hand. That meant going to Asia where the ninja organization was most
present.
A lead taking them to a crumbly part of town put Parkman more on edge.
“I’m sensing hostile thoughts.” He warned his partner.
“Big surprise.” Spooner yawned.
“No. Really. It’s against us. I think we’re in trouble.”
He expected ninja to start coming out of the woodwork, but only one man showed himself. He was masked, but not ninja style. Goggles and a
hood hid much of his identity. In his hands were a pair of specialized fighting sticks.
“This is the end of the line for you two.” He said gruffly.
Spooner and Parkman looked at each other and then back at him. They both had their guns trained on the man and kept them there. It was a
standoff. Both detectives were itching for a reason to fire. After a long wait, he gave them one.
Fight Parameters:
The Lieutenant will take both men on solo. He’s out to kill them. Spooner and Parkman will try to wound him and escape since they are
surrounded by a bunch of other ninja spectators.
