Previously: Sent by his Majai leaders, Ardeth Bay went to America to solicit super hero aid in coming conflict against the forces of evil. He as confronted by Dao Long Wong who unleashed the Dark Chi Warriors to kill him.
Daredevil heard the fighting from blocks away. From the odd clanging and whooshes, it wasn’t a normal skirmish. He arrived by landing hard on the ground. With his lack of vision, the horned hero had to survey the scene with his other senses.
Absorbing the thud of his landing, were four bodies. Right away, he knew their positions.
One man was a fighter, with a strong heartbeat. His tempo was a little stressed, which indicated that he was up against a tough opponent.
The other three seemed to be working together. They never attacked all at once, instead coordinating their participation to catch their prey in too slow a defense. So far, the victim was holding up, but according to his breathing and heart rate, he wasn’t going to last too much longer.
Lastly, Daredevil surmised that the three assailants weren’t human. Something about their repertory and cardio functions indicated unnatural calmness, even for a team that was winning.
At last, the inevitable happened; Ardeth Bay was overwhelmed. As the largest one, carrying the oversized hammer brought his weapons down to force the Majai to move, Ardeth evaded right into the attack of the one carrying the staff.
He had brought his sword up to block but the strike was too strong and it knocked his sword nearly out of his grip and Ardeth suffered a smack to the temple.
He staggered and then the third one, carrying a giant shuriken, stabbed him in the back. Bay was a seasoned enough warrior to have positioned himself so that nothing vital inside was penetrated, but unless there was hesitancy on the Dark Chi Warriors’ part, he knew that he was about to die.
That was when Daredevil intervened. His billy club was out of his hand in an instant and its amazing ricochet bopped all three Dark Chi Warriors in the nogget.
They turned as one, ignoring the injured Majai.
“That will be enough of that.” The super hero declared.
Callously, the Dark Chi Warriors reset their murderous intentions on the horned vigilante. As one, they charged.
