- After becoming surrounded by HYDRA forces, Captain America and Leon Kennedy abandoned their mission to secure the Devil Fruit shipment and instead attempted an escape. They successfully destroyed HYDRA's boats then began to swim away, knowing HYDRA couldn't follow due to broken ships and the crew being Devil Fruit users. The story picks up with our heroes on a small island a few miles away. -
"Shit...", Leon coughed, laying flat on the shore of the tiny island, exhausted and drenched "The shit...I do for my country..."
Captain America chuckled shallowly as he leaned against a nearby palm tree, "Boy...you have no idea."
The next couple of minutes were silent with the exception of heavy breathing on both of their parts. This was suddenly broken by a fuzzy voice coming in through Cap's radio.
"Roge....Rogers, come in....I repeat, this is Master Chief. Do you copy?"
Both Leon and Cap jumped from surprise, quickly replying to Chief before the radio died. "Chief? This is Steve Rogers! I copy you. Where are you? Over."
"Steve? The....happened? We've been waiting....Central City. Have you...from Fury? Over."
"Not a word. We were ambushed by HYDRA vessels so I'm sure they have something to do with it. The shipment was compromised. What about you? Over."
"HYDRA?......As far as I know the cargo is still here...Waited to hear from you. Ov..."
"Chief?", Cap sighed in frustration "We can't count on SHIELD at the moment so we're going to need a ride. Hold your position and send Guile. We will meet up before we go further. Copy that? Over."
There was short pause over the radio until, "Copy Rogers, We....from earlier. Just send flare when...Over."
Captain America put together what Master Chief said and responded with a simple "Affirmative." Leon and Cap spent the next hour drying themselves off when they spotted Guile's helicopter coming overhead. They shot up their only good flare to signal their location and were picked up in seconds, now headed to Central City.
- Some Hours Later in Central City -
"So what's our options Cap?", Leon asked as he rejoined the group of Captain America, Master Chief, and Guile after raiding the team's small armory.
"Well SHIELD has it's hands full fighting off HYDRA's forces, so we have limited support. We know HYDRA's the ones collecting all these Devil Fruits and using middle men to gather them. Which is something HYDRA would very likely do. Now normally I'd go straight to Nick or Maria for help but they are missing and we don't have the time for a man hunt. HYDRA will continue to use their forces to fight SHIELD but that's only a distraction so they can collect the Fruits without incident. They'll have operatives collecting these shipments, most likely small teams so they can keep quiet. That's where we strike. The overall plan hasn't changed, we find these shipments before HYDRA can collect them. Our primary is the shipments destruction."
"Sounds as simple as ever. I'm guessing there's a shipment here in Central, huh?" Guile replied.
"As far as we know, yes. Our intel led us to believe that it hasn't been picked up yet. The only problem is finding it." said Master Chief.
Before the conversation could continue, a large explosion coming from the city rocked the heroes' hideout.
"The hell was that?" Leon yelled, but none of them answered as they all bolted for the door to find out what happened. All they could see was smoke from several blocks away.
"Guess we found it," said Master Chief as he hoisted his rifle and headed toward the smoke. The others followed suit and as soon as they arrived at the scene they had found their answers. A warehouse with a large gaping hole in it's side, revealing crates filled to the brim with Devil Fruits.
"Yes. YESSS!" yelled Heatwave as his body became living fire and expanded, scorching the nearby buildings.
"Cool it, Wave!" said Captain Cold, touching the burnt building and cooling it down with ice. "We came for the shipment. We have it now and new powers. Nobody can-" Cold stopped, finally noticing the heroes standing before him.
"You boys are going have to come with us now, you realized that?" Captain America said, brandishing his Shield.
"The Rogues go with no one!" screamed Heatwave, ready to fight anyone who stood in his way.
Captain America, Leon Kennedy, Master Chief and Guile are all at their peak, fully geared, and have some knowledge of the Rogues and former abilities.
