PROLOGUE
The year was 20XX. Doctor Albert Wily, the overshadowed and overlooked former colleague of the virtuous Doctor Thomas Light, had turned evil, and planned on taking over the world. Unlike most super-villains, Doctor Wily genuinely had the means to do such a thing. He was incredibly intelligent, resourceful, and was extremely skilled in robotics. These traits allowed him to build a veritable army of subservient robotic warriors with colourful sets of deadly weapons at their disposal. Granted, most of Wily's robot slaves were already built by other experts in robotics, and nearly all of them had some kind of dangerous job before being reprogrammed and brainwashed into becoming Wily's weapons, the Robot Masters.
Doctor Light, however, built own robot warrior who would go on to become a truly legendary modern hero. That robot warrior was formerly known as Rock, before being upgraded into the Blue Bomber, Mega Man. Mega Man could shoot pellets, jump very high, slide very fast, and could teleport anywhere he wanted, but his most uncanny ability was the power to copy other robots' moves and weapons, and use them against their owners. This ability allowed Mega Man to power through waves and waves of robotic enemies, and allowed him to slaughter countless Robot Masters that only really wanted to protect their bases and their master.
Mega Man had saved the world from the threat of Doctor Wily so many times that Wily eventually got bored. Having gotten tired of sending in just robots to fight his arch nemesis, Wily instead started sending in living human beings to fight the Blue Bomber as well. He did this by using his incredibly technology to summon a handful of powerful fighters from an alternate universe called the 'World Warriors'. These warriors included the likes of Ryu, Crimson Viper, Dhalsim, and the Master of the Fist, Akuma. On Mega Man's anniversary, Doctor Wily got all of these superpowered fighters to battle Mega Man, and all of them inevitably fell before the Blue Bomber's might.
While this plan may have been a failure, Wily began experimenting more with cross-dimensional technology. His obsession with world domination had long since past. His whole existence was then solely based on killing Mega Man, no matter the cost. That cost turned out to be his entire universe.
When Doctor Wily attempted to open a portal to a dimension filled with ravenous demons and other abominations to horrible to describe with words in Light's laboratory, the device malfunctioned when Mega Man shot at it with his Black Hole Bomb, a weapon that previously belonged to Wily's own minion, Galaxy Man. The collision of a miniature black hole and an interdimensional portal fractured the whole of reality in Wily's universe. Mega Man, and all of the other inhabitants of that universe were destroyed completely, but Wily and Light survived. Both doctors were rescued by a multiversal and effectively omnipotent being called the Living Tribunal, who teleported them out of their universe just before the portal device exploded.
The Living Tribunal was supposed to maintain balance and order in the cosmos. It's appearance, or how it allows itself to be perceived by us lesser beings, is that of a golden humanoid with several heads, and all of those heads are covered in a rag except for one. The Living Tribunal did not like it when an entire universe is destroyed without his permission, as it is the only one who can pass judgement on an entire universe. The Living Tribunal put both men on trial, even though Wily was the one who really committed the crime. However, the Living Tribunal believed that Light also partly caused the destruction since he was the one who drove Wily to insanity. While both men would otherwise be killed and then erased from existence for such a heinous crime, The One Above All, who is basically God, interrupted the Living Tribunal while judgement was being passed, and convinced his subordinate to simply banish Light and Wily to another universe for their crime instead.
The Living Tribunal agreed, and both Wily and Light were transported to another world instead, where they would have to live with the guilt of causing so much death for eternity. It turns out that all those who accidentally cause the destruction of entire universes are sent to the same place. A place with no real name, but its inhabitants had taken a liking to calling it the Island of Destroyers.
In this story, you will see two relatively unimportant characters from a video game made in the 1980s become angels.
