Okay, we are finally ready to discuss the next step. In the previous topic about the Database, some have brought up the possibility of changing the number of reference links used for Database profiles. While we have started making profiles with four links in the CBUB profile tradition, we don't necessarily have to stick with that model if the community wants to go a different route. In that vein, I bring up the obvious question:
How many reference links do you think a Database profile should have?
I have also put up a poll. I left out an option for only one link because I felt that a profile would then be more or less a carbon copy of a previously existing link. Please vote and discuss.

Quite honestly, I think the three is the best option. We get one wiki, one fanpage, then a official site. This way we get the most info on how much the characters can interact with their personalities and powers.

I agree with Shockwave on this one. Those three would cover the pretty much all the bases you'd need to know for any character in the database. Four always seemed like a lot.

I guess three is good. Wikiapedia (if it's any good), a wiki (many times the best info), an official page (for legal stuff).
With those as a standard, and flexibility for other good sites instead of a Wikapedia or wiki when something else is better.
Plus we can always add in a other sites in the later posts just like pictures or videos.

What if the wiki is the official site?? Show me a wiki that is an official site and we'll talk, otherwise it's just as easily edited by anyone.

Wiki is the most unreliable a lot of times and not always updated. Its best to have three because sometimes the fansite may actually be more reliable then the actual wiki page.

I'm fine with whatever. My problem is my own butterfingers sometimes though.

I voted other. If there's an official page for a character, than I think that should be included by default, along with any sort of wiki to add more info if possible. If no official website exists, then 3 wikis if possible. Special exceptions may exist where the characters are obscure enough that only 1 single wiki exists.

I've voted for Other, since it isn't always possible to find 3 or more links for a character that actually contains any usable information.
Personally I would suggest trying for at least 3 links, with one of them being the official site, and the others with increasing level of detail.
Since, as far as I know, the links are supposed to help the users figure out what the characters are capable of.
With that in mind, there's no reason to have multiple links that all give the same information.

That's a good argument for Other. Some good characters just don't have the web pages they deserve. And finding more than one that tells you something is out of the question sometimes. I know this from the experience of adding so many characters to the old site.

Good discussion so far. If there are any more ideas, we'll be glad to hear them.
Also, something to keep in mind: on MagneticFox, as long as a poll is open, one can always change his/her vote from their original choice.

I'll be closing the poll on this today, so if anyone else want to vote, do so today.
Of course, if there are any more comments, the topic will always be open.

On the note of the topic, I must admit, recently I've encountered situations where some links haven't always provided the best of links to certain characters, hence I can start to emphasize with the masses in desiring to change the means by which we have things.
Just a little insight, to consider perhaps.
