Bruce Banner sat back in his chair with his legs crossed on the table in the new Avengers Tower. He was reading Frankenstein as Tony and Rhodes talked about a upcoming mission for Shield that Rhodes was trying to get him to join.
Tony Stark: I'm done Rhodes. Shield can handle this one. Or maybe Cap since he seems to be cleaning house everywhere left and right across the country. Talk about a huge chip on the shoulder the guy has. From now on me and my poor excuse for a wine are sitting back saving the world from behind the scene. I give Cap and Shield some help right here. Plus me and Bruce have a project we are working on.
Rhodes: Look Tony I get it. After everything you been through I get why your hanging it up. But trust me your gone want in on this. We need that big brain of yours to help us out. I told Fury I would take your spot on the team as War Machine only if you helped with this alternate world they discovered. During Thor's last battle it left a rip in our world between realities with another one of those cosmic gems. Oh and by the way.....Wine? I know your recovering but that's kind of weak.....
Tony sat back for a minute and sipped his wine as he grinned waving his finger.
Tony Stark: Now...Now... don't judge buddy. Yeah I saw that whole Thor battle. Bruce was checking out that rip in reality. Banner?
Bruce Banner sat at the Avengers computer as he tapped away and brought a screen up of a huge portal that was opened over New York.
Bruce Banner: Tony I may have to side with Rhodes. Retirement may have to hold on. I'm getting reports of ships coming through. And.....
All three men stood in shock as Faora and 4 other kryptonians flew through the portal with ships behind them. They stopped as their ships hovered over New York and immediately sent a message that was sent worldwide through anything electronic such as TVS, Computers, radios, and more. General Zod appeared on the screen as he spoke.
GENERAL ZOD: I AM GENERAL ZOD. THE LEADER OF KRYPTON. I HAVE COME TO YOUR PLANET IN SEARCH OF THE COSMIC GEM. IF YOUR LEADERS KNOW WHERE IT IS ITS IN THEIR BEST INTEREST TO GIVE IT TO ME. IF ANYONE GETS IN OUR WAY WE WILL DESTROY EVERYTHING ON THE PLANET. OUR MISSION BEGINS NOW.
The message ended as Banner shook his head in disbelief at another invasion while Rhodes was already calling Shield and being informed on their next move. Stark walked to a chair near Banner and sat next to him.
Bruce Banner: Tony we aren't ready for this by any means. Cap and Widow are busy with that Winter Soldier, Thor is still recovering from his last battle, and Hawkeye is helping Coulson. Fury said he had some new recruits who were a brother and sister.....
Banner kept talking nervous and angry as Stark stopped him.
Tony Stark: I know Banner. It's okay. It's just you, me, and Rhodes. We have to contain this and get in front of this quick.
James Rhodes got off the phone with Shield as he walked up to the two.
Rhodes: Okay as you expected Shield wants us to get in front of this thing. Thor happens to be on his way here to Earth anyways. However Jane said it won't be for another 24 days since he was off in space helping some Guardians. We got 24 hours for us and Shield to hold these guys off. Shield is under the impression once those 24 hours days are up these aliens will attack thinking they couldn't search the planet because we are hiding something we no longer have.
Bruce Banner: I guess we skip the talking it out phase.
Tony: That wasn't us. Did you see the tech on those ships?
Bruce Banner: Oh yea. I hope you and Rhodes upgraded those suits. Don't need to be a scientist to tell their packing some serious firepower.
Tony went to the Avengers computer and typed away as Banner walked around pacing. Rhodes contacted Fury telling him to get a hold of Steve Rogers if possible as all three men were silent thinking about their next move. Bruce was was watching the news of the aliens searching the planet and causing havoc as a image came up of Ghost Rider fighting one of the aliens.
Bruce Banner: What about that Ghost Rider? He looks to have already beat us to the punch in taking these guys on. I have seen some of the stuff he can do. We could use his help. The other guy kind of wants to take him on for sport of course and show all that superiority. But still...
Tony: I'm already on it. Rhodes suit up. Banner....
Bruce Banner: Already Angry. Damn vacation is ruined. I was looking forward to Hawaii.
Tony: Good and Hawaii is still on just postponed. Rhodes Tell Shield we will be at the Helicarrier in 20 to form a plan and have that Johnny Blaze there. This time we hit first.
Rhodes: Got it.
Bruce Banner: So Avengers and less then half sort of Assemble?
Tony Stark: Oh my you made a joke.
Bruce Banner: I have my moments.

A hour later Bruce Banner, Ironman with his armors on autopilot,War Machine, and Shield led by Nick Fury confront General Zod in New York.
General Zod: What the hell is the meaning of this? Have you all offered your lives as your first apology for hiding the cosmic gems from us? Did I not make it clear the terms?
Nick Fury: We know the terms we don't give a damn. I know don't who you and your people are. But you don't come to our planet and start demanding things that don't belong to you. Get off our planet....
General Zod: Or what? The powers we have here make us the most powerful beings here. You have seen what we have done in search for the gems. Who is going to oppose us on this horrible planet?
Nick Fury: I'm happy you asked. Banner?
Bruce Banner transformed into Hulk as he yelled in anger.
Hulk: HULK SMASH ALIENS!
Hulk jumped at Zod as he punched him with a right hook and sent him flying through the air. Ironman, War Machine, and the rest of Shield started firing away attacking the Aliens as the battle began. Kryptionans super sped on the ground killing Shield agents left and right. Ghost Rider blasted fire from his hands at two Kryptonians as they exchanged blows.
The battle begins.
Ironman with his upgraded suit from Ironman 3, Jarvis controlled armors, Shield Agents with high tech shield guns led by Nick Fury, Iron Patriot, Incredible Hulk, and Ghost Rider. Shield also has their own ground and air assault vehicles with some Tony Stark added touches in battle.
vs
General Zod, Faora, and 3 other Kryptonians along with their Kryptonian ships just like the Man of Steel film.
They have super-leap (Not Flight), super speed, superhuman durability, and super-strength at the moment. Basically the very first powers they showed in battle. Just like Man of Steel their powers are still developing over time and their in those kryptonian suits.
Thor, Loki, and the Warrior's Three will come in another 24 hours to help out.
Can the heroes hold off the Kryptonians for 24 hours long enough for Thor and his group to show up? Can they survive before the Kryptionans grow too powerful and get what they want?
