Purple crystals jutted out of the ground, at what otherwise looked like an average country road. Imagine a generic wooden fence lining each side of what used to be a picturesque little path. It was winding, covered in dust, and looked like it belonged next to a big red barn.
But it wasn't next to a dairy farm, instead the road sat contrast to a dark vortex where the sky was supposed to be.
A woman with blue hair rubbed her arms to fight the chill of the deserted place, only moving a hand away to touch the only cattail left sticking out of the ground.
The woman's name was Aqua. And she had been wandering in the Realm of Darkness for quite sometime.
The reason why the path she was walking looked so out of place, was because it didn't belong their. The road used to dwell on a planet absorbed by the Heartless. It didn't belong here. And neither did Aqua.
She was banished here after the worst day of her life. A day that left her two best friends in peril and trapped her here with no way to save them.

Not too far from her, sat a metal box, with dimensions slightly larger than a New York City phone booth. The hideous rectangle was comprised of mismatched scrap metal, and housed a tangle of discarded wires and a beast. The monster inside muttered to himself, disgusted by his disgrace of an invention. Provided he had better materials and not this junk, he could have made a machine to get him out of his wretched dimension. His agitation grew everytime one of his broad shoulders rubbed the side of the structure.
The creature was known in a past life as Hank McCoy, though his friends and enemies referred to him as the Dark Beast. He hailed from a timeline that he affectionately called "The Age of Apocalypse", where he was one of the worlds most revered and feared researchers. He was quite near the top of the caste system before the entire reality folded on itself. Apparently his world was an abnormality, and never should have existed.
He deduced that he was never supposed to exist either, but here he was. He was one of only a handful of residents to get out. He was attempting to make a grand escape from another doomed plane of existence, after being stranded here by a goody-two-shoes alternate version of himself.
"Mark my words," he said to no one because he was alone fidgeting with wires in an ugly box on an uninhabited hell realm, "I will get out of this wretched place."

It had been a long time since either of them had met another living creature...that wasn't trying to devour their hearts.
So when Aqua came across the shabby little rectangle on the side of the road, she stopped and contemplated its origins. There where many strange objects left in the Realm of Darkness, shreds of what forsaken worlds have left behind. Sometimes she'd come across a street lamp or a strange tree and ponder what kind of vibrant world it came from. She imagined people interacting with these objects, it made her feel a little less alone to know that someone with a heart had touched the things around her.
But this box, it did not look like it belonged in a living world. And the more she looked at it the more she realized it was moving, slightly tipping back and forth. For a second she thought she heard muttering coming from the thing, but wrote it off as her brain playing tricks on her again. Isolation and darkness tended to mess with the mind.
After a moment of confusion, the door on the box burst open. Aqua summoned her keyblade and was prepared to attack the Heartless bound to jump out of it.
But this furry creature. It wasn't like any Heartless she'd seen before.

The Dark Beast stood with one foot out the door of his machine, staring into the eyes of a stunning sight. A beautiful woman. She was holding some kind of sword.
The two stood their respective grounds, awkwardly. Both had been isolated so long they were unsure of how interact with other people.
Aqua was weary of this thing's gruesome appearance, but since it wasn't attacking her, she slowly lowered her weapon.
"Hello," she said with an unsure tone.
"Greetings," he replied awkwardly.
A slight breeze blew in the moment of silence, allowing a human skull to roll past them like a tumbleweed.
"Are you...real?" Aqua asked.
"Indeed," he fully stepped out of the box, "I am."
"My name is Aqua," she dismissed her keyblade, "are you trapped here too?"
Dark Beast did his best to hide a sinister sneer.

Max Goof stood awkwardly in the hallway right before passing period. He readjusted his backpack for the twelfth time, trying to find the perfect way to casually stand for when Roxanne walked by. He decided that one strap over his left shoulder while cooly leaning on the lockers was the way to go.
The bell rang and the hall filled with loud, smelly teenagers making their way to the next class. He scanned the hallway for her as nonchalantly as he could waiting to see her beautiful face in a sea of mediocrity.
Then he saw her. The luscious red hair. The adorable nose. The perfect combination of features that made up the love of his life, Roxanne.
She was approaching with her best friend Stacy when some doofus walked right up to Max, blocking him from his love's eyesight.
"You're leaning on my locker, bruh," the stranger pushed his stupid platinum blond bangs out of his eyes.
"One second, I'm doing something," Max tried to move his head so Roxanne could could make eye contact with him.
"Seriously, bruh, I need my history book," he insisted.
"Listen, can you wait jus wait one second? I'll move on in a minuet." By that time the moment had passed. Roxanne and Stacy already passed him. This guy ruined his moment.
"You ruined my moment!" Max became irrationally angry in this moment, shoving the other kid.
"What's your damage, bruh?" the stupid teen pushed him back.
Max wasn't used to fighting, so when he lashed out, it was a pathetic smacking of his foe.
The other teen was more used to physical altercations, pressing his forearm against Max's esophagus thus pushing him into the wall.
Max began choking as the the other kid pressed up on his throat, lifting his feet off the ground. The crowd around them was thinning. No one seemed to notice the assault. Once the hall was completely clear, the kid's eyes changed color, from black light blue and his arm became hot against Max's neck.
Now when the teen spoke, a different voice was coming out, "Tell your dad...I said...'sup'." And with with his free hand he snapped his fingers, setting Goofy's only son up in flames. Spontaneous combustion.
With nothing but cinders left where Max had been standing, the color drained from the teens eyes and his skin stopped smoking. He didn't recall a thing that happened.

Aqua and Dark Beast ended up talking for a long time, each sitting on the top rail of the fence I described to you earlier. They spoke of how they came to be here, trapped in a world filled with darkness. Dark Beast's story was completely fabricated of course, painting himself as the hero of the story.
"I suppose the thing I miss most about my home is the prestige," Dark Beast pondered, "where I'm from, I'm a renowned scientist. I was a household name. I had respect, status, notoriety. There's no one here to even know my name. Except you now, that is."
"That's so sad, Hank," Aqua was gazing into the swirling black and purple void that comprised the sky. "The things I miss most are my friends."
Dark Beast laid his clawed hand gently on Aqua's knee and whispered , "I can be your friend."
Aqua awkwardly scooted away from her new acquaintance, "That's very nice of you Hank...but please don't touch my leg."
DB slid down the railing to the point where he was sitting closer to her than he was before. He put his fanged mouth right next to her head and whispered again, "Come now, Aqua. We are both mammals. We both have physical needs, desires. How long has it been since you've been with a man-"
He barely finished the last word of his sentence before she smacked him.
She hoped off her seat and had the Keyblade materialize in her hand, "You're disgusting."
"How are you doing that," Dark Beast rubbed his jaw and his eyes focused on on her Keyblade, How is that possible? Making the thing appear out of nowhere? Where do you hide it?" His scientific curiosity slowly faded back into perversion, "What else could you be hiding in that armor of yours?"
He began salivating at the thought of physical conquest. She nearly puked at the lustful look in his eye.

So for those unfamiliar with Aqua or Kingdom Hearts in general, shes an expert at using her mythical Keyblade, a powerful weapon that can release the hearts of those vanquished by it. She has access to elemental magic, such as fire, ice, and lightening. And loo at this video of her flipping around and s*it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3G9Qid0_-g
Dark Beast is a bit stronger and infinitely more nefarious than his blue counterpart. He's quick, his claws and teeth are sharp. Beast, from the Disney films, is able to hang with these Keyblade wielders and is pretty powerful in this universe, so I'd use that as a baseline.
