Naraku
Naraku (奈落, "Hell") is the main antagonist of the anime and manga InuYasha. He is a spider hanyō, or half-demon with spider-like characteristics, who is responsible for the misery of most of the main cast. Naraku is voiced by Hiroshi Yanaka and Toshiyuki Morikawa (Japanese) and Paul Dobson (English).
Naraku was directly responsible for the death of the character Kikyō and the seal placed on the series' protagonist, InuYasha. He was also the cause of most of the problems and struggles facing the other major characters, making his destruction the main focus of their quest due to the pain he has personally caused them.
As a half-demon and later a demon, Naraku desired the Shikon no Tama (also known as the Jewel of Four Souls in the English version), a jewel that would be able to grant him near-invincibility should he acquire all the pieces of it. Although early in the series he desired the jewel to purge his half-human self from his body, he also sought the jewel to enhance his strength even further. He is repeatedly opposed by Inuyasha and his friends, along with several other characters in the series.
