One of the neat things about electricferret.com was in the CBUB section, a feature called F.P.A. (fight point average?) Basically, people both rated and voted on matches, and those ratings contributed to a personal score listed on the site for the world to see. Oh, sweet glory. Dear, beautiful vanity!
I feel like we should bring that back! We could even have a top five/ten writers. Do we have ten members left? Anyway, it doesn't have to be coded into the site. The numbers could be recorded in pinned sections. *shrugs* what say y'all?

I didn't mind the point system. I was pretty proud of my rank too, so I wouldn't mind it coming back.
More than anything I'd like to see the top writers and characters list again. That was the best.

I would not mind taking care of the math and recording the numbers!

It might be interesting to see what people think about this. Unless a good and willing programmer shows up here, though, we can't really integrate a point system into the coding.
I'm personally kinda torn on if bringing the system here would be a good thing myself. On one hand, potentially getting good grades could be good incentive for making well-written matches. On the other hand, there would also be people trying to cheat the system like on EF (which I'm sure is part of what started turning users off from matchmaking before).

I would not mind taking care of the math and recording the numbers! Keep in mind that if you wanted to do this, you'd very likely have to be around at least weekly to keep track of things.

To do this and receive unbiased results, matches would have to intrinsically last a set amount of time, if G4 were to record the data and crunch the numbers, a week-long rating/voting period sounds like a good number?

Theoretically speaking, 1 week sounds good. It used to be three days, right? Or was it a week back on CBUB too... Hmm... At any rate, I pop in about every other day on here, at least. At absolute least, two days in between. Even if I don't post anything.

I wasn't really talking about poll length, necessarily. I just meant you'd probably have to check in on the numbers at least weekly to be sure things don't fall behind. Could get a good deal tougher to do if matchmaking picks up.

Alright, so I am all set to begin a rudimentary system of grading matches. It isn't mandatory to grade a set up if you don't want to, I just think it'd be cool to acknowledge those who have good ideas/execution. There will be a week from the date the match was posted to get in your rating, and I'll be crunching all the numbers! Here's an ideal way to grade matches: On a scale of one to five, 5 being the highest. -Grammar/Spelling (self explanatory) -Creativity (good idea expressed) -Coherency/Flow (structure and comprehensible) -Characterization (true to character portrayals) -Captivating/Hook Factor (how hard or easy it was to stay interested throughout and read to the end)
Where each criteria above equals one point, and a perfect score will allot a 5.0 score. If you would like to have a match you've written in the past open to grading for a week, just let me know and I'll happily oblige. Hopefully we can have fun with this. I think it'll be easier without anonymity making way for animosity. Sadly, that was one of the things that occurred back on the good ole ferret. One last thing, @mods, any chance we can get this pinned once the numbers come in?

Sorry about getting back to this late, g4. We could possibly implement a new F.P.A. system for MagneticFox, if not through the forum's code. We still need to hear from more people about what they think, including more of the staff.
